והוה פתגם נבואה מן קדם יי עמי למימר:
lmymr emy yy qdm mn nbwah pthgm whwh
Yahweh’s word came to me, saying,
2
בר אדם קביל נבואה לאורח דרומא ואליף על דרומא ואתנבי על חורשא דחקל דרומא:
drwma dkhql khwrsha el wathnby drwma el walyp drwma lawrkh nbwah qbyl adm br
“Son of man, set your face toward Jerusalem, and preach toward the sanctuaries, and prophesy against the land of Israel.

ותימר לחורשא דדרומא קביל פתגמא דיי כדנן אמר יי אלהים הא אנא מדליק בך אשתא ותקטיל בך כל אילן יביש לא תטפי לשלהוביתא דמשיציא ויתרשמון בה כל אפיא מדרום לצפונא:
ltspwna mdrwm apya kl bh wythrshmwn dmshytsya lshlhwbytha thTpy la ybysh ayln kl bk wthqTyl ashtha bk mdlyq ana ha alhym yy amr kdnn dyy pthgma qbyl ddrwma lkhwrsha wthymr
Tell the land of Israel, ‘Yahweh says: “Behold, I am against you, and will draw my sword out of its sheath, and will cut off from you the righteous and the wicked.

ויחזון כל בני בסרא ארי אנא יי אדליקתה לא תטפי:
thTpy la adlyqthh yy ana ary bsra bny kl wykhzwn
Seeing then that I will cut off from you the righteous and the wicked, therefore my sword will go out of its sheath against all flesh from the south to the north.

ואמרית קביל בעותי יי אלהים הא אינון אמרין לי הלא ממתיל מתלין הוא:
hwa mthlyn mmthyl hla ly amryn aynwn ha alhym yy bewthy qbyl wamryth
All flesh will know that I, Yahweh, have drawn my sword out of its sheath. It will not return any more.”’

והוה פתגם נבואה מן קדם יי עמי למימר:
lmymr emy yy qdm mn nbwah pthgm whwh
“Therefore sigh, you son of man. You shall sigh before their eyes with a broken heart and with bitterness.
7
בר אדם קביל נבואה על ירושלם ואליף על מקדשין ואתנבי על ארעא דישראל:
dyshral area el wathnby mqdshyn el walyp yrwshlm el nbwah qbyl adm br
It shall be, when they ask you, ‘Why do you sigh?’ that you shall say, ‘Because of the news, for it comes! Every heart will melt, all hands will be feeble, every spirit will faint, and all knees will be weak as water. Behold, it comes, and it shall be done, says the Lord Yahweh.’”

ותימר לארעא דישראל כדנן אמר יי הא אנא שלח רוגזי עלך ואפיק חרבי מלדנה ואגלי מניך זכאך בדיל לשיצאה חיבך:
khybk lshytsah bdyl zkak mnyk wagly mldnh khrby wapyq elk rwgzy shlkh ana ha yy amr kdnn dyshral larea wthymr
Yahweh’s word came to me, saying,

חלף דאגלי מניך זכאך בדיל לשיצאה חיבך בכן תפוק חרבי מלדנה על כל בסרא מדרום לצפונא:
ltspwna mdrwm bsra kl el mldnh khrby thpwq bkn khybk lshytsah bdyl zkak mnyk dagly khlp
“Son of man, prophesy, and say, ‘Yahweh says: “A sword! A sword! It is sharpened, and also polished.

וידעון כל בני בסרא ארי אנא יי אפקית חרבי מלדנה לא תתוב עוד:
ewd ththwb la mldnh khrby apqyth yy ana ary bsra bny kl wydewn
It is sharpened that it may make a slaughter. It is polished that it may be as lightning. Should we then make mirth? The rod of my son condemns every tree.

ואת בר אדם אתאנח בזיע חרצין ובמרר תתאנח לעיניהון:
leynyhwn ththankh wbmrr khrtsyn bzye athankh adm br wath
It is given to be polished, that it may be handled. The sword is sharpened. Yes, it is polished to give it into the hand of the killer.”’

ויהי ארי ימרון לך על מה את מתאנח ותימר על בסורתא ארי אתיא ויתמסי כל לב ויתרשלן כל ידין ותעמי כל רוח וכל רכוביא יתאשדן מיא הא אתיא ותתקים אמר יי אלהים:
alhym yy amr wththqym athya ha mya ythashdn rkwbya wkl rwkh kl wthemy ydyn kl wythrshln lb kl wythmsy athya ary bswrtha el wthymr mthankh ath mh el lk ymrwn ary wyhy
Cry and wail, son of man; for it is on my people. It is on all the princes of Israel. They are delivered over to the sword with my people. Therefore beat your thigh.

והוה פתגם נבואה מן קדם יי עמי למימר:
lmymr emy yy qdm mn nbwah pthgm whwh
“For there is a trial. What if even the rod that condemns will be no more?” says the Lord Yahweh.

בר אדם אתנבי ותימר כדנן אמר יי אלהים אמר חרבא דמלכא דבבל תקטול וחרבא דבני עמון תתני ותשיצי:
wthshytsy ththny emwn dbny wkhrba thqTwl dbbl dmlka khrba amr alhym yy amr kdnn wthymr athnby adm br
“You therefore, son of man, prophesy, and strike your hands together. Let the sword be doubled the third time, the sword of the fatally wounded. It is the sword of the great one who is fatally wounded, which enters into their rooms.

בדיל למקטל קטול אשתליפת בדיל למעבד פורענות אשתנינת על דחדיאו שבטא דבית יהודה ובנימין לשבטי ישראל כד גלו על דפלחו לטעותא ותבו אינון למטעי בתר צלמי אעיא:
aeya tslmy bthr lmTey aynwn wthbw lTewtha dplkhw el glw kd yshral lshbTy wbnymyn yhwdh dbyth shbTa dkhdyaw el ashthnynth pwrenwth lmebd bdyl ashthlypth qTwl lmqTl bdyl
I have set the threatening sword against all their gates, that their heart may melt, and their stumblings be multiplied. Ah! It is made as lightning. It is pointed for slaughter.

ויהב פורענותהון לאתמסרא ביד מלכא דבבל היא מחת חרבא תהי פורענותהון לממסר יתהון ביד קטולין:
qTwlyn byd ythhwn lmmsr pwrenwthhwn thhy khrba mkhth hya dbbl mlka byd lathmsra pwrenwthhwn wyhb
Gather yourselves together. Go to the right. Set yourselves in array. Go to the left, wherever your face is set.

צוח ואיליל בר אדם ארי היא הות בעמי היא וכל רברבי ישראל קטולי חרבא אתכנשו ואתו על עמי מסחור סחור בכן טפח על ירכא:
yrka el Tpkh bkn skhwr mskhwr emy el wathw athknshw khrba qTwly yshral rbrby wkl hya bemy hwth hya ary adm br waylyl tswkh
I will also strike my hands together, and I will cause my wrath to rest. I, Yahweh, have spoken it.”

ארי אתנביאו עליהון נביא ולא תבו ומה יהי בסופיהון אמר ואף שבטא דבית יהודה ובנימין מגלא יגלון ובעובדיהון בישיא לא יתקימון אמר יי אלהים:
alhym yy amr ythqymwn la byshya wbewbdyhwn yglwn mgla wbnymyn yhwdh dbyth shbTa wap amr bswpyhwn yhy wmh thbw wla nbya elyhwn athnbyaw ary
Yahweh’s word came to me again, saying,

ואת בר אדם אתנבי וטפח יד על יד ותתכפיל חרבא תליתאה חרב קטולין היא חרב פורענות קטולא רבא דמזיעא להון:
lhwn dmzyea rba qTwla pwrenwth khrb hya qTwlyn khrb thlythah khrba wththkpyl yd el yd wTpkh athnby adm br wath
“Also, you son of man, appoint two ways, that the sword of the king of Babylon may come. They both will come out of one land, and mark out a place. Mark it out at the head of the way to the city.

בדיל למתבר לבהון ולאסגאה מתקלהון על כל קרויהון מניתי קטלי חרבא וי חרבא אשתליפת למקטל אשתנינת לשיצאה:
lshytsah ashthnynth lmqTl ashthlypth khrba wy khrba qTly mnythy qrwyhwn kl el mthqlhwn wlasgah lbhwn lmthbr bdyl
You shall appoint a way for the sword to come to Rabbah of the children of Ammon, and to Judah in Jerusalem the fortified.

אשתליפי וקטילי מדרומא ושיצי מן צפונא לאן אפך מזמנין:
mzmnyn apk lan tspwna mn wshytsy mdrwma wqTyly ashthlypy
For the king of Babylon stood at the parting of the way, at the head of the two ways, to use divination. He shook the arrows back and forth. He consulted the teraphim. He looked in the liver.
22
ואף אנא איתי פורענות על פורענות ואניח חימתי אנא יי גזרית במימרי:
bmymry gzryth yy ana khymthy wanykh pwrenwth el pwrenwth aythy ana wap
In his right hand was the lot for Jerusalem, to set battering rams, to open the mouth in the slaughter, to lift up the voice with shouting, to set battering rams against the gates, to cast up mounds, and to build forts.

והוה פתגם נבואה מן קדם יי עמי למימר:
lmymr emy yy qdm mn nbwah pthgm whwh
It will be to them as a false divination in their sight, who have sworn oaths to them; but he brings iniquity to memory, that they may be taken.
24
ואת בר אדם אתקין לך תרתין אורחן דייתון בהון קטולי חרבא דמלכא דבבל ממדינתא הדא יפקון תרויהון ואתרא אתקין בריש פרשות אורח קרתא אתרא אתקין:
athqyn athra qrtha awrkh prshwth brysh athqyn wathra thrwyhwn ypqwn hda mmdyntha dbbl dmlka khrba qTwly bhwn dyythwn awrkhn thrthyn lk athqyn adm br wath
“Therefore the Lord Yahweh says: ‘Because you have caused your iniquity to be remembered, in that your transgressions are uncovered, so that in all your doings your sins appear; because you have come to memory, you will be taken with the hand.
25
אורחא אתקין דייתון בה קטולי חרבא מרבת בני עמון ועל דבית יהודה די נפקו מירושלם למיתב בקרוין כריכן:
krykn bqrwyn lmythb myrwshlm npqw dy yhwdh dbyth wel emwn bny mrbth khrba qTwly bh dyythwn athqyn awrkha
“‘You, deadly wounded wicked one, the prince of Israel, whose day has come, in the time of the iniquity of the end,

ארי קם מלכא דבבל על אם פרשות אורח בריש תרתין אורח למקסם קסם קשת בגרריא שאל בצלמניא חזא בכבדא:
bkbda khza btslmnya shal bgrrya qshth qsm lmqsm awrkh thrthyn brysh awrkh prshwth am el dbbl mlka qm ary
the Lord Yahweh says: “Remove the turban, and take off the crown. This will not be as it was. Exalt that which is low, and humble that which is high.
27
בימיניה הוה קסמא נפיל למהך לירושלם למנאה אפרורון לפתרא תרעין דיעלון בהון קטולין לארמא קל באצוחת קרנא למנאה אפרורון על תרען למצבר מליתא ולמבני כרקום:
krqwm wlmbny mlytha lmtsbr thren el aprwrwn lmnah qrna batswkhth ql larma qTwlyn bhwn dyelwn threyn lpthra aprwrwn lmnah lyrwshlm lmhk npyl qsma hwh bymynyh
I will overturn, overturn, overturn it. This also will be no more, until he comes whose right it is; and I will give it.”’

והוה להון קסומיהון כדיבין בעיניהון נחשין דהוה מנחש להון ואינון לא ידעין דארבעין ותשע זמנין הוה כמן ומתתיב על פתגמא עד דתיתי ליה שעתא דיתמסרון בידיה:
bydyh dythmsrwn shetha lyh dthythy ed pthgma el wmththyb kmn hwh zmnyn wthshe darbeyn ydeyn la waynwn lhwn mnkhsh dhwh nkhshyn beynyhwn kdybyn qswmyhwn lhwn whwh
“You, son of man, prophesy and say, ‘The Lord Yahweh says this concerning the children of Ammon, and concerning their reproach: “A sword! A sword is drawn! It is polished for the slaughter, to cause it to devour, that it may be as lightning;

בכן כדנן אמר יי אלהים חלף דאדכרתון חוביכון באתגלאה מרדיכון לאתחזאה חטאיכון בכל עובדיכון חלף דאדכרתון ביד מלכא דבבל תתמסרון:
ththmsrwn dbbl mlka byd dadkrthwn khlp ewbdykwn bkl khTaykwn lathkhzah mrdykwn bathglah khwbykwn dadkrthwn khlp alhym yy amr kdnn bkn
while they see for you false visions, while they divine lies to you, to lay you on the necks of the wicked who are deadly wounded, whose day has come in the time of the iniquity of the end.
30
ואת חיב קטלא רשיעא רבא דישראל דמטא יום תבריה עדן תושלמת חובוהי:
khwbwhy thwshlmth edn thbryh ywm dmTa dyshral rba rshyea qTla khyb wath
Cause it to return into its sheath. In the place where you were created, in the land of your birth, I will judge you.

כדנן אמר יי אלהים אעדי מצנפתא משריה כהנא רבא ואבטיל כתרא מצדקיה מלכא אמר דין ודין באתריה לא יתקים מגלא יגלון גדליה בר אחיקם דלא הוה דיליה יסבינה וצדקיה דדיליה היא תעדי מניה:
mnyh thedy hya ddylyh wtsdqyh ysbynh dylyh hwh dla akhyqm br gdlyh yglwn mgla ythqym la bathryh wdyn dyn amr mlka mtsdqyh kthra wabTyl rba khna mshryh mtsnptha aedy alhym yy amr kdnn
I will pour out my indignation on you. I will blow on you with the fire of my wrath. I will deliver you into the hand of brutish men, skillful to destroy.
32
חוביהון דחבו כחוביהון אתפרע מנהון אף לדין לא יתקים ליה עד דאיתי עלוהי פורענות ישמעאל בר נתניה ואמסריניה בידיה:
bydyh wamsrynyh nthnyh br yshmeal pwrenwth elwhy daythy ed lyh ythqym la ldyn ap mnhwn athpre kkhwbyhwn dkhbw khwbyhwn
You will be for fuel to the fire. Your blood will be in the middle of the land. You will be remembered no more; for I, Yahweh, have spoken it.”’”
33
ואת בר אדם אתנבי ותימר כדנן אמר יי אלהים על בני עמון ועל חסודיהון ותימר חרבא חרבא אשתלפת למקטל אשתנינת לשיצאה בדיל למהוי לה צחצוחין:
tskhtswkhyn lh lmhwy bdyl lshytsah ashthnynth lmqTl ashthlpth khrba khrba wthymr khswdyhwn wel emwn bny el alhym yy amr kdnn wthymr athnby adm br wath

באתנבאה לך שקר באלפא לך כדבן לממסר ית צורך כצורי קטילי רשיעיא דמטא יום תבירהון עדן סעורן בישתהון:
byshthhwn sewrn edn thbyrhwn ywm dmTa rshyeya qTyly ktswry tswrk yth lmmsr kdbn lk balpa shqr lk bathnbah

אתיב חרבא לנדנה באתרא דאתבריתון בארע תותבותכון אתפרע מנכון:
mnkwn athpre thwthbwthkwn bare dathbrythwn bathra lndnh khrba athyb
36
ואשפוך עלך חימתי באשת פורענותי אתקיף עלך ואמסרינך ביד גברין רשיעין דאומנין לחבלא:
lkhbla dawmnyn rshyeyn gbryn byd wamsrynk elk athqyp pwrenwthy bashth khymthy elk washpwk
