1
ואת טול אליא על רברבי ישראל:
yshral rbrby el alya Twl wath
“Moreover, take up a lamentation for the princes of Israel,

ותימר מה כנשתא דישראל דהות דמיא לליתא ביני מלכיא רבא ביני שלטוניא רביאת בנהא:
bnha rbyath shlTwnya byny rba mlkya byny llytha dmya dhwth dyshral knshtha mh wthymr
and say, ‘What was your mother? A lioness. She couched among lions, in the middle of the young lions she nourished her cubs.

ורביאת חד מבנהא מלכא הוה ואליף למקטל קטול אנשא קטל:
qTl ansha qTwl lmqTl walyp hwh mlka mbnha khd wrbyath
She brought up one of her cubs. He became a young lion. He learned to catch the prey. He devoured men.

ושמעו עלוהי עממיא בסריגתהון אתאחד ואיתיאוהו בשלשלן לארעא דמצרים:
dmtsrym larea bshlshln waythyawhw athakhd bsrygthhwn emmya elwhy wshmew
The nations also heard of him. He was taken in their pit; and they brought him with hooks to the land of Egypt.

וחזת ארי פסק אבד סבורה ורביאת חד מבנהא מלכא שויתיה:
shwythyh mlka mbnha khd wrbyath sbwrh abd psq ary wkhzth
“‘Now when she saw that she had waited, and her hope was lost, then she took another of her cubs, and made him a young lion.

והליך בגו מלכיא מלכא הוה ואליף למקטל קטול אנשא קטל:
qTl ansha qTwl lmqTl walyp hwh mlka mlkya bgw whlyk
He went up and down among the lions. He became a young lion. He learned to catch the prey. He devoured men.

ואצדי ברניתיה וקרויהון אחריב וצדיאת ארעא ומלואה מקל אתרגשתה:
athrgshthh mql wmlwah area wtsdyath akhryb wqrwyhwn brnythyh watsdy
He knew their palaces, and laid waste their cities. The land was desolate with its fullness, because of the noise of his roaring.

ואתכנישו עלוהי עממיא סחור סחור ממדינתא ופרסו עלוהי מצדתהון בסריגתהון אתאחד:
athakhd bsrygthhwn mtsdthhwn elwhy wprsw mmdyntha skhwr skhwr emmya elwhy wathknyshw
Then the nations attacked him on every side from the provinces. They spread their net over him. He was taken in their pit.

ויהבוהי בקולרין בשלשלן ואיתיאוהו לות מלכא דבבל איתיאוהו במצדיא בדיל דלא ישתמע קליה עד על טורי ישראל:
yshral Twry el ed qlyh yshthme dla bdyl bmtsdya aythyawhw dbbl mlka lwth waythyawhw bshlshln bqwlryn wyhbwhy
They put him in a cage with hooks, and brought him to the king of Babylon. They brought him into strongholds, so that his voice should no more be heard on the mountains of Israel.

כנשתא דישראל במעבדה אוריתא דמיא כגופן דשתילא על מבוע דמין דנופה שפיר וסוכה מטלן היא שתילה על מיין סגיאין:
sgyayn myyn el shthylh hya mTln wswkh shpyr dnwph dmyn mbwe el dshthyla kgwpn dmya awrytha bmebdh dyshral knshtha
“‘Your mother was like a vine in your blood, planted by the waters. It was fruitful and full of branches by reason of many waters.

והוו בה שכלטונין תקיפין ומלכין דגברין לשעבדא מלכו וראים בתוקפיה על מלכותיה ואתנצח בסומכותיה בסגי גברוהי:
gbrwhy bsgy bswmkwthyh wathntskh mlkwthyh el bthwqpyh wraym mlkw lshebda dgbryn wmlkyn thqypyn shklTwnyn bh whww
It had strong branches for the scepters of those who ruled. Their stature was exalted among the thick boughs. They were seen in their height with the multitude of their branches.

ואתעקרת בתקוף מארעא בית שכנתא לארעא אוחרי אתגליאת ומלך דתקיף כרוח קידומא קטיל עמה אטלטלו וגלו שלטוני תוקפא ועממיא דתקיפין כאשתא שיציאינון:
shytsyaynwn kashtha dthqypyn wemmya thwqpa shlTwny wglw aTlTlw emh qTyl qydwma krwkh dthqyp wmlk athglyath awkhry larea shkntha byth marea bthqwp watheqrth
But it was plucked up in fury. It was cast down to the ground, and the east wind dried up its fruit. Its strong branches were broken off and withered. The fire consumed them.

וכען דמיא לגופן דשתילא במדברא בארעא צדיא וחריבא:
wkhryba tsdya barea bmdbra dshthyla lgwpn dmya wken
Now it is planted in the wilderness, in a dry and thirsty land.

ואתו עממיא דתקיפין כאשתא מחובי זדונה עמה קטילו ולא הוו בה שלטונין תקיפין מלכין דגברין לשעבדא מלכו אמר נביא אליא היא נבואתא ותהי לאליא:
lalya wthhy nbwatha hya alya nbya amr mlkw lshebda dgbryn mlkyn thqypyn shlTwnyn bh hww wla qTylw emh zdwnh mkhwby kashtha dthqypyn emmya wathw
Fire has gone out of its branches. It has devoured its fruit, so that there is in it no strong branch to be a scepter to rule.’ This is a lamentation, and shall be for a lamentation.”
