ܒܪܢܫܐ ܐܚܘܕ ܐܘܚܕܬܐ ܘܐܡܬܠ ܡܬܠܐ ܥܠ ܕܒܝܬ ܐܝܣܪܝܠ

“Son of man, tell a riddle, and speak a parable to the house of Israel;

ܘܐܡܪ ܗܟܢܐ ܐܡ̇ܪ ܡܪܐ ܡܪ̈ܘܬܐ ܢܫܪܐ ܪܒܐ ܕܪ̈ܘܪܒܝܢ ܓܦܘ̈ܗܝ ܘܐܪ̈ܝܟܝܢ ܓܠܦܢ̈ܘܗܝ ܘܡ̈ܠܝܢ ܛܦܪ̈ܘܗܝ ܘܥܒܝܛ ܡܠܓܗ ܐܬܐ ܠܠܒܢܢ ܘܢܣܒ ܓܒܝܐ ܕܥܪ̈ܩܐ

and say, ‘The Lord Yahweh says: “A great eagle with great wings and long feathers, full of feathers which had various colors, came to Lebanon and took the top of the cedar.

ܘܩܛܡ ܪܝܫ ܡܪܒܝܬܗ ܘܐܝܬܝܗ ܠܐܪܥܐ ܕܟܢܥܢ ܘܣܡܗ ܒܡܕܝܢܬܐ ܕܬܓܪ̈ܐ
dthgr' bmdynth' wsmh dknen l're' w'ythyh mrbythh rysh wqTm
He cropped off the topmost of its young twigs, and carried it to a land of traffic. He planted it in a city of merchants.

ܘܢܣܒ ܡܢ ܙܪܥܐ ܕܐܪܥܐ ܘܐܪܡܝ ܒܡܕܒܪܐ ܢܨܒܬܐ ܥܠ ܡ̈ܝܐ ܣ̈ܓܝܐܐ ܘܣܡܗ ܠܕܘܩܐ

“‘“He also took some of the seed of the land and planted it in fruitful soil. He placed it beside many waters. He set it as a willow tree.

ܘܝܥܬ ܘܗܘܬ ܓܦܬܐ ܡܪܥܬܐ ܡܟܝܟܬ ܩܘܡܬܐ ܕܢܬܚܙܘܢ ܫܒܘ̈ܩܝܗ̇ ܥܠܘܗܝ ܘܥܩܪ̈ܝܗ̇ ܢܗܘܘܢ ܬܚܘܬܘܗܝ. ܘܗܘܬ ܓܦܬܐ ܘܥܒܕܬ ܫܒ̈ܘܩܐ. ܘܦܫܛܬ ܥܢ̈ܩܝܗ̇.

It grew and became a spreading vine of low stature, whose branches turned toward him, and its roots were under him. So it became a vine, produced branches, and shot out sprigs.

ܘܗܐ ܢܫܪܐ ܐܚܪܢܐ ܪܒܐ ܕܪ̈ܘܪܒܝܢ ܓܦܘ̈ܗܝ ܘܣ̈ܓܝܐܢ ܛܦܪ̈ܘܗܝ ܘܓܦܬܐ ܗܕܐ ܐܟܪܟܬ ܥܩܪ̈ܝܗ̇ ܥܠܘܗܝ ܘܕܠܝ̈ܬܗ̇ ܐܪܡܝܬ ܥܠܘܗܝ ܕܢܫܩܝܗ̇ ܡܢ ܡܕܪܐ ܕܢܨܒܬܗ

“‘“There was also another great eagle with great wings and many feathers. Behold, this vine bent its roots toward him, and shot out its branches toward him, from the ground where it was planted, that he might water it.

ܒܚܩܠܐ ܫܦܝܪܬܐ ܘܒ̈ܡܝܐ ܣ̈ܓܝܐܐ ܢܨܝܒܐ ܕܬܥܒܕ ܛܪ̈ܦܐ ܘܬܛܥܢ ܦܐܪ̈ܐ ܘܬܗܘܐ ܓܦܬܐ ܫܒܝܚܬܐ
shbykhth' gpth' wthhw' p'r' wthTen Trp' dthebd ntsyb' sgy'' wbmy' shpyrth' bkhql'
It was planted in a good soil by many waters, that it might produce branches and that it might bear fruit, that it might be a good vine.”’

ܐܡܪ ܗܟܢܐ ܐܡ̇ܪ ܡܪܐ ܡܪ̈ܘܬܐ ܠܐ ܬܟܫܪ ܐܠܐ ܥܩܪ̈ܝܗ̇ ܢܬܦܣܩܘܢ ܘܦܐܪ̈ܝܗ̇ ܢܬܡܣܘܢ ܘܢܐܒܫܘܢ ܘܟܠܗܘܢ ܛܪ̈ܦܐ ܕܡܘܥܝܬܗ̇ ܢܐܒܫܘܢ ܘܠܐ ܒܕܪܥܐ ܪܡܐ ܘܠܐ ܒܥܡ̈ܡܐ ܣ̈ܓܝܐܐ ܢܥܩܪܝܗ̇ ܡܢ ܥܩܪܗ̇
eqrh mn neqryh sgy'' bemm' wl' rm' bdre' wl' n'bshwn dmweythh Trp' wklhwn wn'bshwn nthmswn wp'ryh nthpsqwn eqryh 'l' thkshr l' mrwth' mr' 'mr hkn' 'mr
“Say, ‘The Lord Yahweh says: “Will it prosper? Won’t he pull up its roots and cut off its fruit, that it may wither, that all its fresh springing leaves may wither? It can’t be raised from its roots by a strong arm or many people.

ܗܐ ܢܨܝܒܐ ܐܠܐ ܠܐ ܬܟܫܪ ܘܡܐ ܕܢܫܒܬ ܒܗ̇ ܪܘܚܐ ܕܫܘܒܐ ܝ̇ܒܫܐ ܒܡܕܪܐ ܕܡܘܥܝܬܗ̇
dmweythh bmdr' ybsh' dshwb' rwkh' bh dnshbth wm' thkshr l' 'l' ntsyb' h'
Yes, behold, being planted, will it prosper? Won’t it utterly wither when the east wind touches it? It will wither in the ground where it grew.”’”

ܘܗܘܐ ܥܠܝ ܦܬܓܡܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܠܡܐܡܪ

Moreover Yahweh’s word came to me, saying,

ܐܡܪ ܠܒܝܬܐ ܡܡܪܡܪܢܐ ܠܐ ܝܕܥ̇ܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܡܢܐ ܐ̈ܢܝܢ ܗܠܝܢ ܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܗܐ ܐܬ̇ܐ ܡܠܟܐ ܕܒܒܠ ܠܐܘܪܫܠܡ ܘܕܒܪ ܠܡܠܟܗ̇ ܘܠܪ̈ܘܪܒܢܝܗ̇ ܘܡܘܒܠ ܠܗܘܢ ܠܒܒܠ

“Say now to the rebellious house, ‘Don’t you know what these things mean?’ Tell them, ‘Behold, the king of Babylon came to Jerusalem, and took its king, and its princes, and brought them to him to Babylon.

ܘܢܣ̇ܒ ܡܢ ܙܪܥܐ ܕܡܠܟܘܬܐ ܘܡܩܝܡ ܥܡܗ ܩܝܡܐ ܘܥܐ̇ܠ ܥܡܗ ܒܡܘܡ̈ܬܐ ܘܕܒܪ ܠܫ̈ܠܝܛܐ ܕܐܪܥܐ ܕܠܐ ܢܬܬܪܝܡܘܢ

He took one of the royal offspring, and made a covenant with him. He also brought him under an oath, and took away the mighty of the land,

ܐܠܐ ܬܗܘܐ ܡܠܟܘܬܗܘܢ ܡܟܝܟܐ ܘܢܛܪܘܢ ܩܝܡܗ ܘܢܩܝܡܘܢ ܥܡܗ
emh wnqymwn qymh wnTrwn mkyk' mlkwthhwn thhw' 'l'
that the kingdom might be brought low, that it might not lift itself up, but that by keeping his covenant it might stand.

ܘܢܡܪܕ ܥܠܘܗܝ ܘܢܫܕܪ ܐܝ̈ܙܓܕܘܗܝ ܠܡܨܪܝܢ ܕܢܬܠܘܢ ܠܗ ܪ̈ܟܫܐ ܘܥܡܐ ܣܓܝܐܐ ܠܐ ܢܟܫܪ ܘܠܐ ܢܬܦܨܐ ܡ̇ܢ ܕܗܟܢܐ ܥܒܕ
ebd dhkn' mn nthpts' wl' nkshr l' sgy'' wem' rksh' lh dnthlwn lmtsryn 'yzgdwhy wnshdr elwhy wnmrd
But he rebelled against him in sending his ambassadors into Egypt, that they might give him horses and many people. Will he prosper? Will he who does such things escape? Will he break the covenant, and still escape?

ܚܝ ܐܢܐ ܐܡ̇ܪ ܡܪܐ ܡܪ̈ܘܬܐ ܕܒܐܬܪܐ ܕܐܩܝܡܝܘܗܝ ܡܠܟܐ ܘܫܛ ܡܘ̈ܡܬܝ ܘܒܛܠ ܩܝܡܝ ܒܓܘ ܒܒܠ ܢܡܘܬ
nmwth bbl bgw qymy wbTl mwmthy wshT mlk' d'qymywhy db'thr' mrwth' mr' 'mr 'n' khy
“‘As I live,’ says the Lord Yahweh, ‘surely in the place where the king dwells who made him king, whose oath he despised, and whose covenant he broke, even with him in the middle of Babylon he will die.

ܘܠܐ ܒܚܝܠܐ ܪܒܐ ܐܦܠܐ ܒܪ̈ܟܫܐ ܣ̈ܓܝܐܐ ܢܥܒܕ ܥܡܗ ܦܪܥܘܢ ܩܪܒܐ ܐܠܐ ܒܟܡ̈ܐܢܐ ܘܒܕܘ̈ܩܐ ܢܘܒܕ ܢܦܫ̈ܬܐ ܣܓܝܐ̈ܬܐ
sgy'th' npshth' nwbd wbdwq' bkm'n' 'l' qrb' prewn emh nebd sgy'' brksh' 'pl' rb' bkhyl' wl'
Pharaoh with his mighty army and great company won’t help him in the war, when they cast up mounds and build forts to cut off many persons.

ܥܠ ܕܫܛ ܡܘ̈ܡܬܐ ܘܒܛܠ ܩܝܡܐ ܢܫܠܡ ܐܝܕܗ ܘܠܐ ܢܬܦܨܐ ܥܠ ܕܥܒܕ ܗܠܝܢ ܟܠܗܝܢ

For he has despised the oath by breaking the covenant; and behold, he had given his hand, and yet has done all these things. He won’t escape.

ܡܛܠ ܗܠܝܢ ܗܟܢܐ ܐܡ̇ܪ ܡܪܐ ܡܪ̈ܘܬܐ ܚܝ ܐܢܐ ܥܠ ܕܫܛ ܡܘ̈ܡܬܝ ܘܒܛܠ ܩܝܡܝ ܐܣܩܝܗ̇ ܒܪܝܫܗ
bryshh 'sqyh qymy wbTl mwmthy dshT el 'n' khy mrwth' mr' 'mr hkn' hlyn mTl
“Therefore the Lord Yahweh says: ‘As I live, I will surely bring on his own head my oath that he has despised and my covenant that he has broken.

ܘܐܦܪܘܣ ܡܨܝܕܬܝ ܥܠܘܗܝ ܘܢܬܬܚܕ ܒܗ̇ ܘܐܘܒܠܝܘܗܝ ܠܒܒܠ ܠܐܪܥܐ ܕܟ̈ܠܕܝܐ ܘܐܕܘܢܝܘܗܝ ܬܡܢ ܥܠ ܥܘ̣ܠܐ ܕܐܥܠܝ ܒܝ
by d'ely ewl' el thmn w'dwnywhy dkldy' l're' lbbl w'wblywhy bh wnththkhd elwhy mtsydthy w'prws
I will spread my net on him, and he will be taken in my snare. I will bring him to Babylon, and will enter into judgment with him there for his trespass that he has trespassed against me.

ܘܟܠܗܘܢ ܚܐܪ̈ܘܗܝ ܘܟܠܗܘܢ ܩܪ̈ܝܒܘܗܝ ܢܦܠܘܢ ܒܚܪܒܐ ܘܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܡܫܬܚܪܝܢ ܢܬܕܪܘܢ ܠܟܠ ܪܘܚ ܘܬܕܥܘܢ ܕܐܢܐ ܐܢܐ ܡܪܝܐ ܡܠܠ̇ܬ
mllth mry' 'n' d'n' wthdewn rwkh lkl nthdrwn dmshthkhryn w'ylyn bkhrb' nplwn qrybwhy wklhwn kh'rwhy wklhwn
All his fugitives in all his bands will fall by the sword, and those who remain will be scattered toward every wind. Then you will know that I, Yahweh, have spoken it.’

ܗܟܢܐ ܐܡ̇ܪ ܡܪܐ ܡܪ̈ܘܬܐ ܐܣܒ ܡܢ ܓܒ̈ܝܐ ܕܥܪ̈ܩܐ ܪܡܐ ܘܡܢ ܪܝܫܗ ܐܩܛܘܡ ܠܒܗ ܘܐܨܘܒ ܥܠ ܛܘܪ̈ܐ ܪ̈ܡܐ ܘܡܥ̈ܠܝܐ
wmely' rm' Twr' el w'tswb lbh 'qTwm ryshh wmn rm' derq' gby' mn 'sb mrwth' mr' 'mr hkn'
“The Lord Yahweh says: ‘I will also take some of the lofty top of the cedar, and will plant it. I will crop off from the topmost of its young twigs a tender one, and I will plant it on a high and lofty mountain.

ܒܛܘܪ̈ܐ ܕܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܐܨܒܝܘܗܝ ܘܢܛܥܢ ܛܪ̈ܦܐ ܘܢܥܒܕ ܦܐܪ̈ܐ ܘܢܗܘܐ ܐܪܙܐ ܫܒܝܚܐ ܘܬܫܟܢ ܒܗ ܟܠܗ̇ ܦܪܚܬܐ ܕܓܦܐ ܘܒܛܠܠܐ ܕܣܘ̈ܟܘܗܝ ܢܫܟܢܘܢ
nshknwn dswkwhy wbTll' dgp' prkhth' klh bh wthshkn shbykh' 'rz' wnhw' p'r' wnebd Trp' wnTen 'tsbywhy d'ysryl bTwr'
I will plant it in the mountain of the height of Israel; and it will produce boughs, and bear fruit, and be a good cedar. Birds of every kind will dwell in the shade of its branches.

ܘܢܕܥܘܢ ܟܠܗܘܢ ܐ̈ܝܠܢܐ ܕܕܒܪܐ ܕܐܢܐ ܡܪܝܐ ܐܡ̇ܟܬ ܩܝܣܐ ܪܡܐ ܘܐܪܝܡ̇ܬ ܩܝܣܐ ܡܟܝܟܐ ܘܐ̇ܘܒܫܬ ܩܝܣܐ ܪܛܝܒܐ ܘܐܘܥ̇ܝܬ ܩܝܣܐ ܝܒܝܫܐ ܐܢܐ ܡܪܝܐ ܡܠܠ̇ܬ ܘܥܒ̇ܕܬ
webdth mllth mry' 'n' ybysh' qys' w'weyth rTyb' qys' w'wbshth mkyk' qys' w'rymth rm' qys' 'mkth mry' d'n' ddbr' 'yln' klhwn wndewn
All the trees of the field will know that I, Yahweh, have brought down the high tree, have exalted the low tree, have dried up the green tree, and have made the dry tree flourish. “‘I, Yahweh, have spoken and have done it.’”
