והוה פתגם נבואה מן קדם יי עמי למימר:
lmymr emy yy qdm mn nbwah pthgm whwh
Yahweh’s word came to me, saying,

בר אדם מה שנא אילן גופנא מכל אילנא שבשתא דהות באעי חורשא:
khwrsha baey dhwth shbshtha aylna mkl gwpna ayln shna mh adm br
“Son of man, what is the vine tree more than any tree, the vine branch which is among the trees of the forest?

היסבון מניה אעא למעבד עבידא אם יסבון מניה סיכתא למתלי בה כל מאן:
man kl bh lmthly syktha mnyh ysbwn am ebyda lmebd aea mnyh hysbwn
Will wood be taken of it to make anything? Will men take a pin of it to hang any vessel on it?

הא לאשתא אתמסר לאשתיצאה ית תרין סטרוהי אכלא אשתא וגויה חר היכשר לעבידא:
lebyda hykshr khr wgwyh ashtha akla sTrwhy thryn yth lashthytsah athmsr lashtha ha
Behold, it is cast into the fire for fuel; the fire has devoured both its ends, and the middle of it is burned. Is it profitable for any work?

הא כד הוה שלים לא כשר לעבידא אף אלהין דאשתא אכלתיה וחד היכשר עוד לעבידא:
lebyda ewd hykshr wkhd aklthyh dashtha alhyn ap lebyda kshr la shlym hwh kd ha
Behold, when it was whole, it was suitable for no work. How much less, when the fire has devoured it, and it has been burned, will it yet be suitable for any work?”

בכן כדנן אמר יי אלהים כמא דאילן גופנא באעי חורשא דמסרתיה לאשתא לאשתיצאה כן מסרית ית יתבי ירושלם:
yrwshlm ythby yth msryth kn lashthytsah lashtha dmsrthyh khwrsha baey gwpna dayln kma alhym yy amr kdnn bkn
Therefore the Lord Yahweh says: “As the vine wood among the trees of the forest, which I have given to the fire for fuel, so I will give the inhabitants of Jerusalem.

ואתן ית פורענותי בהון על פתגמי אוריתא דיהיבין מגו אשתא עברו ועממיא דתקיפין כאשתא ישיצינון ותידעון ארי אנא יי כד יחול רוגזי בהון:
bhwn rwgzy ykhwl kd yy ana ary wthydewn yshytsynwn kashtha dthqypyn wemmya ebrw ashtha mgw dyhybyn awrytha pthgmy el bhwn pwrenwthy yth wathn
I will set my face against them. They will go out from the fire, but the fire will still devour them. Then you will know that I am Yahweh, when I set my face against them.
