ובתר כן עלו משה ואהרן ואמרו לפרעה כדנן אמר יי אלהא דישראל שלח ית עמי ויחגון קדמי במדברא:
wbthr kn elw mshh wahrn wamrw lpreh kdnn amr yy alha dyshral shlkh yth emy wykhgwn qdmy bmdbra
Afterward Moses and Aaron came, and said to Pharaoh, “This is what Yahweh, the God of Israel, says, ‘Let my people go, that they may hold a feast to me in the wilderness.’”

ואמר פרעה שמא דיי לא אתגלי לי די אקבל לממרה לשלחא ית ישראל לא אתגלי לי שמא דיי ואף ית ישראל לא אשלח:
wamr preh shma dyy la athgly ly dy aqbl lmmrh lshlkha yth yshral la athgly ly shma dyy wap yth yshral la ashlkh
Pharaoh said, “Who is Yahweh, that I should listen to his voice to let Israel go? I don’t know Yahweh, and moreover I will not let Israel go.”

ואמרו אלהא דיהודאי אתגלי עלנא ניזיל כען מהלך תלתא יומין במדברא ונדבח קדם יי אלהנא דלמא יערעננא במותא או בקטול:
wamrw alha dyhwday athgly elna nyzyl ken mhlk thltha ywmyn bmdbra wndbkh qdm yy alhna dlma yerenna bmwtha aw bqTwl
They said, “The God of the Hebrews has met with us. Please let us go three days’ journey into the wilderness, and sacrifice to Yahweh, our God, lest he fall on us with pestilence, or with the sword.”

ואמר להון מלכא דמצרים למא משה ואהרן תבטלון ית עמא מעובדהון אזילו לפלחנכון:
wamr lhwn mlka dmtsrym lma mshh wahrn thbTlwn yth ema mewbdhwn azylw lplkhnkwn
The king of Egypt said to them, “Why do you, Moses and Aaron, take the people from their work? Get back to your burdens!”

ואמר פרעה הא סגיאין כען עמא דארעא ותבטלון יתהון מפלחנהון:
wamr preh ha sgyayn ken ema darea wthbTlwn ythhwn mplkhnhwn
Pharaoh said, “Behold, the people of the land are now many, and you make them rest from their burdens.”

ופקיד פרעה ביומא ההוא ית שלטונין דעמא וית סרכוהי למימר:
wpqyd preh bywma hhwa yth shlTwnyn dema wyth srkwhy lmymr
The same day Pharaoh commanded the taskmasters of the people and their officers, saying,

לא תוספון למיתן תבנא לעמא למרמי לבנין כמתמלי ומדקמוהי אנון יהכון ויגבבון להון תבנא:
la thwspwn lmythn thbna lema lmrmy lbnyn kmthmly wmdqmwhy anwn yhkwn wygbbwn lhwn thbna
“You shall no longer give the people straw to make brick, as before. Let them go and gather straw for themselves.

וית סכום לבניא די אנון עבדין מתמלי ומדקמוהי תמנון עליהון לא תמנעון מנה ארי בטלנין אנון על כן אנון צוחין למימר ניזיל נדבח קדם אלהנא:
wyth skwm lbnya dy anwn ebdyn mthmly wmdqmwhy thmnwn elyhwn la thmnewn mnh ary bTlnyn anwn el kn anwn tswkhyn lmymr nyzyl ndbkh qdm alhna
You shall require from them the number of the bricks which they made before. You shall not diminish anything of it, for they are idle. Therefore they cry, saying, ‘Let’s go and sacrifice to our God.’

תתקף פלחנא על גבריא ויתעסקון בה ולא יתעסקון בפתגמין בטלין:
ththqp plkhna el gbrya wythesqwn bh wla ythesqwn bpthgmyn bTlyn
Let heavier work be laid on the men, that they may labor in it. Don’t let them pay any attention to lying words.”

ונפקו שלטוני עמא וסרכוהי ואמרו לעמא למימר כדנן אמר פרעה לית אנא יהב לכון תבנא:
wnpqw shlTwny ema wsrkwhy wamrw lema lmymr kdnn amr preh lyth ana yhb lkwn thbna
The taskmasters of the people went out with their officers, and they spoke to the people, saying, “This is what Pharaoh says: ‘I will not give you straw.

אתון אזילו סיבו לכון תבנא מאתר דתשכחון ארי לא יתמנע מפלחנכון מדעם:
athwn azylw sybw lkwn thbna mathr dthshkkhwn ary la ythmne mplkhnkwn mdem
Go yourselves, get straw where you can find it, for nothing of your work shall be diminished.’”

ואתבדר עמא בכל ארעא דמצרים לגבבא גילי לתבנא:
wathbdr ema bkl area dmtsrym lgbba gyly lthbna
So the people were scattered abroad throughout all the land of Egypt to gather stubble for straw.

ושלטוניא דחקין למימר אשלימו עובדיכון פתגם יום ביומה כמא דהויתון עבדין כד אתיהב לכון תבנא:
wshlTwnya dkhqyn lmymr ashlymw ewbdykwn pthgm ywm bywmh kma dhwythwn ebdyn kd athyhb lkwn thbna
The taskmasters were urgent saying, “Fulfill your work quota daily, as when there was straw!”

ולקו סרכי בני ישראל די מניאו עליהון שלטוני פרעה למימר מא דין לא אשלמתון גזרתכון למרמי כמאתמלי ומדקמוהי אף תמלי אף יומא דין:
wlqw srky bny yshral dy mnyaw elyhwn shlTwny preh lmymr ma dyn la ashlmthwn gzrthkwn lmrmy kmathmly wmdqmwhy ap thmly ap ywma dyn
The officers of the children of Israel, whom Pharaoh’s taskmasters had set over them, were beaten, and were asked, “Why haven’t you fulfilled your quota both yesterday and today, in making brick as before?”

ואתו סרכי בני ישראל וצוחו לפרעה למימר למא תעבד כדין לעבדיך:
wathw srky bny yshral wtswkhw lpreh lmymr lma thebd kdyn lebdyk
Then the officers of the children of Israel came and cried to Pharaoh, saying, “Why do you deal this way with your servants?

תבנא לא מתיהב לעבדיך ולבניא אמרין לנא עבידו והא עבדיך לקן וחטן עליהון עמך:
thbna la mthyhb lebdyk wlbnya amryn lna ebydw wha ebdyk lqn wkhTn elyhwn emk
No straw is given to your servants, and they tell us, ‘Make brick!’ and behold, your servants are beaten; but the fault is in your own people.”

ואמר בטלנין אתון בטלנין על כן אתון אמרין נזיל נדבח קדם יי:
wamr bTlnyn athwn bTlnyn el kn athwn amryn nzyl ndbkh qdm yy
But Pharaoh said, “You are idle! You are idle! Therefore you say, ‘Let’s go and sacrifice to Yahweh.’

וכען אזילו פלחו ותבנא לא יתיהב לכון וסכום לביניא תתנון:
wken azylw plkhw wthbna la ythyhb lkwn wskwm lbynya ththnwn
Go therefore now, and work; for no straw shall be given to you; yet you shall deliver the same number of bricks!”
19
וחזו סרכי בני ישראל יתהון בביש למימר לא תמנעון מלבניכון פתגם יום ביומה:
wkhzw srky bny yshral ythhwn bbysh lmymr la thmnewn mlbnykwn pthgm ywm bywmh
The officers of the children of Israel saw that they were in trouble when it was said, “You shall not diminish anything from your daily quota of bricks!”

וערעו ית משה וית אהרן קימין לקדמותהון במפקהון מקדם פרעה:
werew yth mshh wyth ahrn qymyn lqdmwthhwn bmpqhwn mqdm preh
They met Moses and Aaron, who stood along the way, as they came out from Pharaoh.
21
ואמרו להון יתגלי יי עליכון ויתפרע די אבאשתון ית ריחנא בעיני פרעה ובעיני עבדוהי למתן חרבא בידיהון לקטלותנא:
wamrw lhwn ythgly yy elykwn wythpre dy abashthwn yth rykhna beyny preh wbeyny ebdwhy lmthn khrba bydyhwn lqTlwthna
They said to them, “May Yahweh look at you and judge, because you have made us a stench to be abhorred in the eyes of Pharaoh, and in the eyes of his servants, to put a sword in their hand to kill us!”

ותב משה קדם יי ואמר יי למא אבאשתא לעמא הדין ולמא דנן שלחתני:
wthb mshh qdm yy wamr yy lma abashtha lema hdyn wlma dnn shlkhthny
Moses returned to Yahweh, and said, “Lord, why have you brought trouble on this people? Why is it that you have sent me?

ומעדן עלית לות פרעה למללא בשמך אבאש לעמא הדין ושזבא לא שזבתא ית עמך:
wmedn elyth lwth preh lmlla bshmk abash lema hdyn wshzba la shzbtha yth emk
For since I came to Pharaoh to speak in your name, he has brought trouble on this people. You have not rescued your people at all!”
