1
ואלין דיניא די תסדר קדמיהון:
qdmyhwn thsdr dy dynya walyn
“Now these are the ordinances which you shall set before them:
2
ארי תזבן עבדא בר ישראל שת שנין יפלח ובשביעתא יפוק לבר חורין מגן:
mgn khwryn lbr ypwq wbshbyetha yplkh shnyn shth yshral br ebda thzbn ary
“If you buy a Hebrew servant, he shall serve six years, and in the seventh he shall go out free without paying anything.

אם בלחודוהי ייעול בלחודוהי יפוק אם בעל אתתא הוא ותפוק אתתה עמה:
emh aththh wthpwq hwa aththa bel am ypwq blkhwdwhy yyewl blkhwdwhy am
If he comes in by himself, he shall go out by himself. If he is married, then his wife shall go out with him.

אם רבונה יתן לה אתתא ותליד לה בנין או בנן אתתא ובנהא תהי לרבונהא והוא יפוק בלחודוהי:
blkhwdwhy ypwq whwa lrbwnha thhy wbnha aththa bnn aw bnyn lh wthlyd aththa lh ythn rbwnh am
If his master gives him a wife and she bears him sons or daughters, the wife and her children shall be her master’s, and he shall go out by himself.

ואם מימר יימר עבדא רחימנא ית רבוני ית אתתי וית בני לא אפוק לבר חורין:
khwryn lbr apwq la bny wyth aththy yth rbwny yth rkhymna ebda yymr mymr wam
But if the servant shall plainly say, ‘I love my master, my wife, and my children. I will not go out free;’

ויקרבנה רבונה לקדם דיניא ויקרבנה לות דשא או לות מזזתא וירצע רבונה ית אודנה במרצעא ויהי לה עבד פלח לעלם:
lelm plkh ebd lh wyhy bmrtsea awdnh yth rbwnh wyrtse mzztha lwth aw dsha lwth wyqrbnh dynya lqdm rbwnh wyqrbnh
then his master shall bring him to God, and shall bring him to the door or to the doorpost, and his master shall bore his ear through with an awl, and he shall serve him forever.

וארי יזבן גבר ית ברתה לאמהו לא תפוק כמפקנות עבדיא:
ebdya kmpqnwth thpwq la lamhw brthh yth gbr yzbn wary
“If a man sells his daughter to be a female servant, she shall not go out as the male servants do.

אם בישא בעיני רבונה דיקימה לה ויפרקנה לגבר אחרן לית לה רשו לזבונה במשלטה בה:
bh bmshlTh lzbwnh rshw lh lyth akhrn lgbr wyprqnh lh dyqymh rbwnh beyny bysha am
If she doesn’t please her master, who has married her to himself, then he shall let her be redeemed. He shall have no right to sell her to a foreign people, since he has dealt deceitfully with her.

ואם לברה יקימנה כהלכת בנת ישראל יעבד לה:
lh yebd yshral bnth khlkth yqymnh lbrh wam
If he marries her to his son, he shall deal with her as a daughter.
10
אם אחרנתא יסב לה זיונה כסותה ועונתה לא ימנע:
ymne la wewnthh kswthh zywnh lh ysb akhrntha am
If he takes another wife to himself, he shall not diminish her food, her clothing, and her marital rights.
11
ואם תלת אלין לא יעבד לה ותפוק מגן בלא כסף:
ksp bla mgn wthpwq lh yebd la alyn thlth wam
If he doesn’t do these three things for her, she may go free without paying any money.

דימחי לאנש ויקטלנה אתקטלא יתקטל:
ythqTl athqTla wyqTlnh lansh dymkhy
“One who strikes a man so that he dies shall surely be put to death,
13
ודלא כמן לה ומן קדם יי אתמסר לידה ואשוי לך אתר די יערוק לתמן:
lthmn yerwq dy athr lk washwy lydh athmsr yy qdm wmn lh kmn wdla
but not if it is unintentional, but God allows it to happen; then I will appoint you a place where he shall flee.

וארי ירשע גבר על חברה למקטלה בנכילו מן מדבחי תדברנה לממת:
lmmth thdbrnh mdbkhy mn bnkylw lmqTlh khbrh el gbr yrshe wary
If a man schemes and comes presumptuously on his neighbor to kill him, you shall take him from my altar, that he may die.

ודימחי אבוהי ואמה אתקטלא יתקטל:
ythqTl athqTla wamh abwhy wdymkhy
“Anyone who attacks his father or his mother shall be surely put to death.
16
ודיגנוב נפשא מן בני ישראל ויזבננה וישתכח בידה אתקטלא יתקטל:
ythqTl athqTla bydh wyshthkkh wyzbnnh yshral bny mn npsha wdygnwb
“Anyone who kidnaps someone and sells him, or if he is found in his hand, he shall surely be put to death.

ודילוט אבוהי ואמה אתקטלא יתקטל:
ythqTl athqTla wamh abwhy wdylwT
“Anyone who curses his father or his mother shall surely be put to death.
18
וארי ינצון גברין וימחי גבר ית חברה באבנא או בכורמיזא ולא ימות ויפול לבוטלן:
lbwTln wypwl ymwth wla bkwrmyza aw babna khbrh yth gbr wymkhy gbryn yntswn wary
“If men quarrel and one strikes the other with a stone, or with his fist, and he doesn’t die, but is confined to bed;

אם יקום ויהליך בברא על בוריה ויהי זכאה מחיא לחוד בוטלנה יתן ואגר אסיא ישלם:
yshlm asya wagr ythn bwTlnh lkhwd mkhya zkah wyhy bwryh el bbra wyhlyk yqwm am
if he rises again and walks around with his staff, then he who struck him shall be cleared; only he shall pay for the loss of his time, and shall provide for his healing until he is thoroughly healed.
20
וארי ימחי גבר ית עבדה או ית אמתה בשלטן וימות תחות ידה אתדנא יתדן:
ythdn athdna ydh thkhwth wymwth bshlTn amthh yth aw ebdh yth gbr ymkhy wary
“If a man strikes his servant or his maid with a rod, and he dies under his hand, the man shall surely be punished.

ברם אם יומא או תרין יומין יתקים לא יתדן ארי כספה הוא:
hwa ksph ary ythdn la ythqym ywmyn thryn aw ywma am brm
Notwithstanding, if his servant gets up after a day or two, he shall not be punished, for the servant is his property.
22
וארי ינצון גברין וימחון אתתא מעדיא ויפקון ולדהא ולא יהי מותא אתגבאה יתגבי כמא די ישוי עלוהי בעלה דאתתא ויתן על מימר דיניא:
dynya mymr el wythn daththa belh elwhy yshwy dy kma ythgby athgbah mwtha yhy wla wldha wypqwn medya aththa wymkhwn gbryn yntswn wary
“If men fight and hurt a pregnant woman so that she gives birth prematurely, and yet no harm follows, he shall be surely fined as much as the woman’s husband demands and the judges allow.

ואם מותא יהא ותתן נפשא חלף נפשא:
npsha khlp npsha wththn yha mwtha wam
But if any harm follows, then you must take life for life,
24
עינא חלף עינא שנא חלף שנא ידא חלף ידא רגלא חלף רגלא:
rgla khlp rgla yda khlp yda shna khlp shna eyna khlp eyna
eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot,
25
כואה חלף כואה פדעא חלף פדעא משקופי חלף משקופי:
mshqwpy khlp mshqwpy pdea khlp pdea kwah khlp kwah
burning for burning, wound for wound, and bruise for bruise.
26
וארי ימחי גבר ית עינא דעבדה או ית עינא דאמתה ויחבלנה לבר חורין יפטרנה חלף עינה:
eynh khlp ypTrnh khwryn lbr wykhblnh damthh eyna yth aw debdh eyna yth gbr ymkhy wary
“If a man strikes his servant’s eye, or his maid’s eye, and destroys it, he shall let him go free for his eye’s sake.
27
ואם שנא דעבדה או שנא דאמתה יפל לבר חורין יפטרנה חלף שנה:
shnh khlp ypTrnh khwryn lbr ypl damthh shna aw debdh shna wam
If he strikes out his male servant’s tooth, or his female servant’s tooth, he shall let the servant go free for his tooth’s sake.

וארי יגח תורא ית גברא או ית אתתא וימות אתרגמא יתרגם תורא ולא יתאכל ית בסרה ומרה דתורא יהי זכאה:
zkah yhy dthwra wmrh bsrh yth ythakl wla thwra ythrgm athrgma wymwth aththa yth aw gbra yth thwra ygkh wary
“If a bull gores a man or a woman to death, the bull shall surely be stoned, and its meat shall not be eaten; but the owner of the bull shall not be held responsible.

ואם תור נגח הוא מאתמלי ומדקמוהי ויתסהד במרה ולא נטרה ויקטול גברא או אתתא תורא יתרגם ואף מרה יתקטל:
ythqTl mrh wap ythrgm thwra aththa aw gbra wyqTwl nTrh wla bmrh wythshd wmdqmwhy mathmly hwa ngkh thwr wam
But if the bull had a habit of goring in the past, and this has been testified to its owner, and he has not kept it in, but it has killed a man or a woman, the bull shall be stoned, and its owner shall also be put to death.
30
אם ממון ישוון עלוהי ויתן פורקן נפשה ככל די ישוון עלוהי:
elwhy yshwwn dy kkl npshh pwrqn wythn elwhy yshwwn mmwn am
If a ransom is imposed on him, then he shall give for the redemption of his life whatever is imposed.
31
או לבר ישראל יגח תורא או לבת ישראל יגח כדינא הדין יתעבד לה:
lh ythebd hdyn kdyna ygkh yshral lbth aw thwra ygkh yshral lbr aw
Whether it has gored a son or has gored a daughter, according to this judgment it shall be done to him.
32
אם לעבדא יגח תורא או לאמתא כסף תלתין סלעין יתן לרבונה ותורא יתרגם:
ythrgm wthwra lrbwnh ythn sleyn thlthyn ksp lamtha aw thwra ygkh lebda am
If the bull gores a male servant or a female servant, thirty shekels of silver shall be given to their master, and the ox shall be stoned.
33
וארי יפתח גבר גוב או ארי יכרה גבר גוב ולא יכסנה ויפל תמן תורא או חמרא:
khmra aw thwra thmn wypl yksnh wla gwb gbr ykrh ary aw gwb gbr ypthkh wary
“If a man opens a pit, or if a man digs a pit and doesn’t cover it, and a bull or a donkey falls into it,

מרי דגבא ישלם כספא יתיב למרוהי ומיתא יהי דילה:
dylh yhy wmytha lmrwhy ythyb kspa yshlm dgba mry
the owner of the pit shall make it good. He shall give money to its owner, and the dead animal shall be his.
35
וארי יגוף תור דגבר ית תורא דחברה וימות ויזבנון ית תורא חיא ויפלגון ית כספה ואף ית דמי מיתא יפלגון:
yplgwn mytha dmy yth wap ksph yth wyplgwn khya thwra yth wyzbnwn wymwth dkhbrh thwra yth dgbr thwr ygwp wary
“If one man’s bull injures another’s, so that it dies, then they shall sell the live bull, and divide its price; and they shall also divide the dead animal.

או אתידע ארי תור נגח הוא מאתמלי ומדקמוהי ולא נטרה מרה שלמא ישלם תורא חלף תורא ומיתא יהא דילה:
dylh yha wmytha thwra khlp thwra yshlm shlma mrh nTrh wla wmdqmwhy mathmly hwa ngkh thwr ary athyde aw
Or if it is known that the bull was in the habit of goring in the past, and its owner has not kept it in, he shall surely pay bull for bull, and the dead animal shall be his own.
