ונטלו מאילם ואתו כל כנשתא דבני ישראל למדברא דסין די בין אילם ובין סיני בחמשא עסרא יומא לירחא תנינא למפקהון מארעא דמצרים:
dmtsrym marea lmpqhwn thnyna lyrkha ywma esra bkhmsha syny wbyn aylm byn dy dsyn lmdbra yshral dbny knshtha kl wathw maylm wnTlw
They took their journey from Elim, and all the congregation of the children of Israel came to the wilderness of Sin, which is between Elim and Sinai, on the fifteenth day of the second month after their departing out of the land of Egypt.

ואתרעמו כל כנשתא דבני ישראל על משה ועל אהרן במדברא:
bmdbra ahrn wel mshh el yshral dbny knshtha kl wathremw
The whole congregation of the children of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron in the wilderness;

ואמרו להון בני ישראל לוי דמיתנא קדם יי בארעא דמצרים כד הוינא יתבין על דודי בסרא כד הוינא אכלין לחמא ושבעין ארי אפקתון יתנא למדברא הדין לקטלא ית כל קהלא הדין בכפנא:
bkpna hdyn qhla kl yth lqTla hdyn lmdbra ythna apqthwn ary wshbeyn lkhma aklyn hwyna kd bsra dwdy el ythbyn hwyna kd dmtsrym barea yy qdm dmythna lwy yshral bny lhwn wamrw
and the children of Israel said to them, “We wish that we had died by Yahweh’s hand in the land of Egypt, when we sat by the meat pots, when we ate our fill of bread, for you have brought us out into this wilderness to kill this whole assembly with hunger.”

ואמר יי למשה הא אנא מחית לכון לחמא מן שמיא ויפקון עמא וילקטון פתגם יום ביומה בדיל דאנסנון היהכון באוריתי אם לא:
la am bawrythy hyhkwn dansnwn bdyl bywmh ywm pthgm wylqTwn ema wypqwn shmya mn lkhma lkwn mkhyth ana ha lmshh yy wamr
Then Yahweh said to Moses, “Behold, I will rain bread from the sky for you, and the people shall go out and gather a day’s portion every day, that I may test them, whether they will walk in my law or not.

ויהי ביומא שתיתאה ויתקנון ית דייתון ויהי על חד תרין על דילקטון יום יום:
ywm ywm dylqTwn el thryn khd el wyhy dyythwn yth wythqnwn shthythah bywma wyhy
It shall come to pass on the sixth day, that they shall prepare that which they bring in, and it shall be twice as much as they gather daily.”

ואמר משה ואהרן לכל בני ישראל ברמשא ותדעון ארי יי אפיק יתכון מארעא דמצרים:
dmtsrym marea ythkwn apyq yy ary wthdewn brmsha yshral bny lkl wahrn mshh wamr
Moses and Aaron said to all the children of Israel, “At evening, you shall know that Yahweh has brought you out from the land of Egypt.

ובצפרא ותחזון ית יקרא דיי כד שמיע ית תרעמותכון על מימרא דיי ונחנא מא ארי אתרעמתון עלנא:
elna athremthwn ary ma wnkhna dyy mymra el thremwthkwn yth shmye kd dyy yqra yth wthkhzwn wbtspra
In the morning, you shall see Yahweh’s glory; because he hears your murmurings against Yahweh. Who are we, that you murmur against us?”

ואמר משה בדיתן יי לכון ברמשא בסרא למיכל ולחמא בצפרא למשבע בדשמיע קדם יי ית תרעמותכון די אתון מתרעמין עלוהי ונחנא מא לא עלנא תרעמותכון אלהן על מימרא דיי:
dyy mymra el alhn thremwthkwn elna la ma wnkhna elwhy mthremyn athwn dy thremwthkwn yth yy qdm bdshmye lmshbe btspra wlkhma lmykl bsra brmsha lkwn yy bdythn mshh wamr
Moses said, “Now Yahweh will give you meat to eat in the evening, and in the morning bread to satisfy you, because Yahweh hears your murmurings which you murmur against him. And who are we? Your murmurings are not against us, but against Yahweh.”

ואמר משה לאהרן אמר לכל כנשתא דבני ישראל קריבו קדם יי ארי שמיען קדמוהי ית תרעמותכון:
thremwthkwn yth qdmwhy shmyen ary yy qdm qrybw yshral dbny knshtha lkl amr lahrn mshh wamr
Moses said to Aaron, “Tell all the congregation of the children of Israel, ‘Come close to Yahweh, for he has heard your murmurings.’”

והוה כד מליל אהרן עם כל כנשתא דבני ישראל ואתפניו למדברא והא יקרא דיי אתגלי בעננא:
benna athgly dyy yqra wha lmdbra wathpnyw yshral dbny knshtha kl em ahrn mlyl kd whwh
As Aaron spoke to the whole congregation of the children of Israel, they looked toward the wilderness, and behold, Yahweh’s glory appeared in the cloud.

שמיע קדמי ית תרעמת בני ישראל מליל עמהון למימר בין שמשיא תיכלון בסרא ובצפרא תשבעון לחמא ותדעון ארי אנא יי אלהכון:
alhkwn yy ana ary wthdewn lkhma thshbewn wbtspra bsra thyklwn shmshya byn lmymr emhwn mlyl yshral bny thremth yth qdmy shmye
“I have heard the murmurings of the children of Israel. Speak to them, saying, ‘At evening you shall eat meat, and in the morning you shall be filled with bread. Then you will know that I am Yahweh your God.’”

והוה ברמשא וסליקת סליו וחפת ית משריתא ובצפרא הות נחתת טלא סחור סחור למשריתא:
lmshrytha skhwr skhwr Tla nkhthth hwth wbtspra mshrytha yth wkhpth slyw wslyqth brmsha whwh
In the evening, quail came up and covered the camp; and in the morning the dew lay around the camp.

וסליקת נחתת טלא והא על אפי מדברא דעדק מקלף דעדק כגיר כגלידא על ארעא:
area el kglyda kgyr dedq mqlp dedq mdbra apy el wha Tla nkhthth wslyqth
When the dew that lay had gone, behold, on the surface of the wilderness was a small round thing, small as the frost on the ground.

וחזו בני ישראל ואמרו גבר לאחוהי מנא הוא ארי לא ידעו מה הוא ואמר משה להון הוא לחמא די יהב יי לכון למיכל:
lmykl lkwn yy yhb dy lkhma hwa lhwn mshh wamr hwa mh ydew la ary hwa mna lakhwhy gbr wamrw yshral bny wkhzw
When the children of Israel saw it, they said to one another, “What is it?” For they didn’t know what it was. Moses said to them, “It is the bread which Yahweh has given you to eat.

דין פתגמא די פקיד יי לקוטו מנה גבר לפום מיכלה עמרא לגלגלתא מנין נפשתיכון גבר לדי במשכנה תסבון:
thsbwn bmshknh ldy gbr npshthykwn mnyn lglgltha emra myklh lpwm gbr mnh lqwTw yy pqyd dy pthgma dyn
This is the thing which Yahweh has commanded: ‘Gather of it everyone according to his eating; an omer a head, according to the number of your persons, you shall take it, every man for those who are in his tent.’”

ועבדו כן בני ישראל ולקטו דאסגי ודאזער:
wdazer dasgy wlqTw yshral bny kn webdw
The children of Israel did so, and some gathered more, some less.

וכלו בעומרא ולא אותר דאסגי ודאזער לא חסיר גבר לפום מיכלה לקטו:
lqTw myklh lpwm gbr khsyr la wdazer dasgy awthr wla bewmra wklw
When they measured it with an omer, he who gathered much had nothing over, and he who gathered little had no lack. They each gathered according to his eating.

ואמר משה להון אנש לא ישאר מנה עד צפרא:
tspra ed mnh yshar la ansh lhwn mshh wamr
Moses said to them, “Let no one leave of it until the morning.”
20
ולא קבילו מן משה ואשארו גבריא מנה עד צפרא ורחש ריחשא וסרי ורגז עליהון משה:
mshh elyhwn wrgz wsry rykhsha wrkhsh tspra ed mnh gbrya washarw mshh mn qbylw wla
Notwithstanding they didn’t listen to Moses, but some of them left of it until the morning, so it bred worms and became foul; and Moses was angry with them.

ולקטו יתה בצפר בצפר גבר לפום מיכלה ומה דמשתאר מנה על אפי חקלא כד חמא עלוהי שמשא פשר:
pshr shmsha elwhy khma kd khqla apy el mnh dmshthar wmh myklh lpwm gbr btspr btspr ythh wlqTw
They gathered it morning by morning, everyone according to his eating. When the sun grew hot, it melted.

והוה ביומא שתיתאה לקטו לחמא על חד תרין תרין עמרין לחד ואתו כל רברבי כנשתא וחויאו למשה:
lmshh wkhwyaw knshtha rbrby kl wathw lkhd emryn thryn thryn khd el lkhma lqTw shthythah bywma whwh
On the sixth day, they gathered twice as much bread, two omers for each one; and all the rulers of the congregation came and told Moses.

ואמר להון הוא די מליל יי שבתא שבת קודשא קדם יי מחר ית די אתון עתידין למפא אפו וית די אתון עתידין לבשלא בשילו וית כל מותרא אצנעו לכון למטרא עד צפרא:
tspra ed lmTra lkwn atsnew mwthra kl wyth bshylw lbshla ethydyn athwn dy wyth apw lmpa ethydyn athwn dy yth mkhr yy qdm qwdsha shbth shbtha yy mlyl dy hwa lhwn wamr
He said to them, “This is that which Yahweh has spoken, ‘Tomorrow is a solemn rest, a holy Sabbath to Yahweh. Bake that which you want to bake, and boil that which you want to boil; and all that remains over lay up for yourselves to be kept until the morning.’”

ואצנעו יתה עד צפרא כמא דפקיד משה ולא סרי וריחשא לא הוה בה:
bh hwh la wrykhsha sry wla mshh dpqyd kma tspra ed ythh watsnew
They laid it up until the morning, as Moses ordered, and it didn’t become foul, and there were no worms in it.

ואמר משה אכלוהי יומא דין ארי שבתא יומא דין קדם יי יומא דין לא תשכחנה בחקלא:
bkhqla thshkkhnh la dyn ywma yy qdm dyn ywma shbtha ary dyn ywma aklwhy mshh wamr
Moses said, “Eat that today, for today is a Sabbath to Yahweh. Today you shall not find it in the field.

שתא יומין תלקטנה וביומא שביעאה שבתא לא יהי בה:
bh yhy la shbtha shbyeah wbywma thlqTnh ywmyn shtha
Six days you shall gather it, but on the seventh day is the Sabbath. In it there shall be none.”
27
והוה ביומא שביעאה נפקו מן עמא למלקט ולא אשכחו:
ashkkhw wla lmlqT ema mn npqw shbyeah bywma whwh
On the seventh day, some of the people went out to gather, and they found none.
28
ואמר יי למשה עד אימתי אתון מסרבין למטר פקודי ואוריתי:
wawrythy pqwdy lmTr msrbyn athwn aymthy ed lmshh yy wamr
Yahweh said to Moses, “How long do you refuse to keep my commandments and my laws?

חזו ארי יי יהב לכון שבתא על כן הוא יהב לכון ביומא שתיתאה לחם תרין יומין תיבו אנש תחותוהי לא יפוק אנש מאתרה ביומא שביעאה
shbyeah bywma mathrh ansh ypwq la thkhwthwhy ansh thybw ywmyn thryn lkhm shthythah bywma lkwn yhb hwa kn el shbtha lkwn yhb yy ary khzw
Behold, because Yahweh has given you the Sabbath, therefore he gives you on the sixth day the bread of two days. Everyone stay in his place. Let no one go out of his place on the seventh day.”

וקרו בית ישראל ית שמה מן והוא כבר זרע גדא חור וטעמה כאסקריטון בדבש:
bdbsh kasqryTwn wTemh khwr gda zre kbr whwa mn shmh yth yshral byth wqrw
The house of Israel called its name “Manna”, and it was like coriander seed, white; and its taste was like wafers with honey.

ואמר משה דין פתגמא די פקיד יי מלי עמרא מנה למטרא לדריכון בדיל דיחזון ית לחמא די אוכלית יתכון במדברא באפקותי יתכון מארעא דמצרים:
dmtsrym marea ythkwn bapqwthy bmdbra ythkwn awklyth dy lkhma yth dykhzwn bdyl ldrykwn lmTra mnh emra mly yy pqyd dy pthgma dyn mshh wamr
Moses said, “This is the thing which Yahweh has commanded, ‘Let an omer-full of it be kept throughout your generations, that they may see the bread with which I fed you in the wilderness, when I brought you out of the land of Egypt.’”

ואמר משה לאהרן סב צלוחית חדא והב תמן מלי עמרא מן ואצנע יתה קדם יי למטרא לדריכון:
ldrykwn lmTra yy qdm ythh watsne mn emra mly thmn whb khda tslwkhyth sb lahrn mshh wamr
Moses said to Aaron, “Take a pot, and put an omer-full of manna in it, and lay it up before Yahweh, to be kept throughout your generations.”

כמא די פקיד יי למשה ואצנעה אהרן קדם סהדותא למטרא:
lmTra shdwtha qdm ahrn watsneh lmshh yy pqyd dy kma
As Yahweh commanded Moses, so Aaron laid it up before the Testimony, to be kept.
35
ובני ישראל אכלו ית מנא ארבעין שנין עד דמיתיהון לארעא יתבתא ית מנא אכלו עד דאתו לסיפי ארעא דכנען:
dknen area lsypy dathw ed aklw mna yth ythbtha larea dmythyhwn ed shnyn arbeyn mna yth aklw yshral wbny
The children of Israel ate the manna forty years, until they came to an inhabited land. They ate the manna until they came to the borders of the land of Canaan.
