ונטלו מאילם ואתו כל כנשתא דבני ישראל למדברא דסין די בין אילם ובין סיני בחמשא עסרא יומא לירחא תנינא למפקהון מארעא דמצרים:
wnTlw maylm wathw kl knshtha dbny yshral lmdbra dsyn dy byn aylm wbyn syny bkhmsha esra ywma lyrkha thnyna lmpqhwn marea dmtsrym
They took their journey from Elim, and all the congregation of the children of Israel came to the wilderness of Sin, which is between Elim and Sinai, on the fifteenth day of the second month after their departing out of the land of Egypt.

ואתרעמו כל כנשתא דבני ישראל על משה ועל אהרן במדברא:
wathremw kl knshtha dbny yshral el mshh wel ahrn bmdbra
The whole congregation of the children of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron in the wilderness;

ואמרו להון בני ישראל לוי דמיתנא קדם יי בארעא דמצרים כד הוינא יתבין על דודי בסרא כד הוינא אכלין לחמא ושבעין ארי אפקתון יתנא למדברא הדין לקטלא ית כל קהלא הדין בכפנא:
wamrw lhwn bny yshral lwy dmythna qdm yy barea dmtsrym kd hwyna ythbyn el dwdy bsra kd hwyna aklyn lkhma wshbeyn ary apqthwn ythna lmdbra hdyn lqTla yth kl qhla hdyn bkpna
and the children of Israel said to them, “We wish that we had died by Yahweh’s hand in the land of Egypt, when we sat by the meat pots, when we ate our fill of bread, for you have brought us out into this wilderness to kill this whole assembly with hunger.”

ואמר יי למשה הא אנא מחית לכון לחמא מן שמיא ויפקון עמא וילקטון פתגם יום ביומה בדיל דאנסנון היהכון באוריתי אם לא:
wamr yy lmshh ha ana mkhyth lkwn lkhma mn shmya wypqwn ema wylqTwn pthgm ywm bywmh bdyl dansnwn hyhkwn bawrythy am la
Then Yahweh said to Moses, “Behold, I will rain bread from the sky for you, and the people shall go out and gather a day’s portion every day, that I may test them, whether they will walk in my law or not.

ויהי ביומא שתיתאה ויתקנון ית דייתון ויהי על חד תרין על דילקטון יום יום:
wyhy bywma shthythah wythqnwn yth dyythwn wyhy el khd thryn el dylqTwn ywm ywm
It shall come to pass on the sixth day, that they shall prepare that which they bring in, and it shall be twice as much as they gather daily.”

ואמר משה ואהרן לכל בני ישראל ברמשא ותדעון ארי יי אפיק יתכון מארעא דמצרים:
wamr mshh wahrn lkl bny yshral brmsha wthdewn ary yy apyq ythkwn marea dmtsrym
Moses and Aaron said to all the children of Israel, “At evening, you shall know that Yahweh has brought you out from the land of Egypt.

ובצפרא ותחזון ית יקרא דיי כד שמיע ית תרעמותכון על מימרא דיי ונחנא מא ארי אתרעמתון עלנא:
wbtspra wthkhzwn yth yqra dyy kd shmye yth thremwthkwn el mymra dyy wnkhna ma ary athremthwn elna
In the morning, you shall see Yahweh’s glory; because he hears your murmurings against Yahweh. Who are we, that you murmur against us?”

ואמר משה בדיתן יי לכון ברמשא בסרא למיכל ולחמא בצפרא למשבע בדשמיע קדם יי ית תרעמותכון די אתון מתרעמין עלוהי ונחנא מא לא עלנא תרעמותכון אלהן על מימרא דיי:
wamr mshh bdythn yy lkwn brmsha bsra lmykl wlkhma btspra lmshbe bdshmye qdm yy yth thremwthkwn dy athwn mthremyn elwhy wnkhna ma la elna thremwthkwn alhn el mymra dyy
Moses said, “Now Yahweh will give you meat to eat in the evening, and in the morning bread to satisfy you, because Yahweh hears your murmurings which you murmur against him. And who are we? Your murmurings are not against us, but against Yahweh.”

ואמר משה לאהרן אמר לכל כנשתא דבני ישראל קריבו קדם יי ארי שמיען קדמוהי ית תרעמותכון:
wamr mshh lahrn amr lkl knshtha dbny yshral qrybw qdm yy ary shmyen qdmwhy yth thremwthkwn
Moses said to Aaron, “Tell all the congregation of the children of Israel, ‘Come close to Yahweh, for he has heard your murmurings.’”

והוה כד מליל אהרן עם כל כנשתא דבני ישראל ואתפניו למדברא והא יקרא דיי אתגלי בעננא:
whwh kd mlyl ahrn em kl knshtha dbny yshral wathpnyw lmdbra wha yqra dyy athgly benna
As Aaron spoke to the whole congregation of the children of Israel, they looked toward the wilderness, and behold, Yahweh’s glory appeared in the cloud.

שמיע קדמי ית תרעמת בני ישראל מליל עמהון למימר בין שמשיא תיכלון בסרא ובצפרא תשבעון לחמא ותדעון ארי אנא יי אלהכון:
shmye qdmy yth thremth bny yshral mlyl emhwn lmymr byn shmshya thyklwn bsra wbtspra thshbewn lkhma wthdewn ary ana yy alhkwn
“I have heard the murmurings of the children of Israel. Speak to them, saying, ‘At evening you shall eat meat, and in the morning you shall be filled with bread. Then you will know that I am Yahweh your God.’”

והוה ברמשא וסליקת סליו וחפת ית משריתא ובצפרא הות נחתת טלא סחור סחור למשריתא:
whwh brmsha wslyqth slyw wkhpth yth mshrytha wbtspra hwth nkhthth Tla skhwr skhwr lmshrytha
In the evening, quail came up and covered the camp; and in the morning the dew lay around the camp.

וסליקת נחתת טלא והא על אפי מדברא דעדק מקלף דעדק כגיר כגלידא על ארעא:
wslyqth nkhthth Tla wha el apy mdbra dedq mqlp dedq kgyr kglyda el area
When the dew that lay had gone, behold, on the surface of the wilderness was a small round thing, small as the frost on the ground.

וחזו בני ישראל ואמרו גבר לאחוהי מנא הוא ארי לא ידעו מה הוא ואמר משה להון הוא לחמא די יהב יי לכון למיכל:
wkhzw bny yshral wamrw gbr lakhwhy mna hwa ary la ydew mh hwa wamr mshh lhwn hwa lkhma dy yhb yy lkwn lmykl
When the children of Israel saw it, they said to one another, “What is it?” For they didn’t know what it was. Moses said to them, “It is the bread which Yahweh has given you to eat.

דין פתגמא די פקיד יי לקוטו מנה גבר לפום מיכלה עמרא לגלגלתא מנין נפשתיכון גבר לדי במשכנה תסבון:
dyn pthgma dy pqyd yy lqwTw mnh gbr lpwm myklh emra lglgltha mnyn npshthykwn gbr ldy bmshknh thsbwn
This is the thing which Yahweh has commanded: ‘Gather of it everyone according to his eating; an omer a head, according to the number of your persons, you shall take it, every man for those who are in his tent.’”

ועבדו כן בני ישראל ולקטו דאסגי ודאזער:
webdw kn bny yshral wlqTw dasgy wdazer
The children of Israel did so, and some gathered more, some less.
18
וכלו בעומרא ולא אותר דאסגי ודאזער לא חסיר גבר לפום מיכלה לקטו:
wklw bewmra wla awthr dasgy wdazer la khsyr gbr lpwm myklh lqTw
When they measured it with an omer, he who gathered much had nothing over, and he who gathered little had no lack. They each gathered according to his eating.

ואמר משה להון אנש לא ישאר מנה עד צפרא:
wamr mshh lhwn ansh la yshar mnh ed tspra
Moses said to them, “Let no one leave of it until the morning.”
20
ולא קבילו מן משה ואשארו גבריא מנה עד צפרא ורחש ריחשא וסרי ורגז עליהון משה:
wla qbylw mn mshh washarw gbrya mnh ed tspra wrkhsh rykhsha wsry wrgz elyhwn mshh
Notwithstanding they didn’t listen to Moses, but some of them left of it until the morning, so it bred worms and became foul; and Moses was angry with them.

ולקטו יתה בצפר בצפר גבר לפום מיכלה ומה דמשתאר מנה על אפי חקלא כד חמא עלוהי שמשא פשר:
wlqTw ythh btspr btspr gbr lpwm myklh wmh dmshthar mnh el apy khqla kd khma elwhy shmsha pshr
They gathered it morning by morning, everyone according to his eating. When the sun grew hot, it melted.

והוה ביומא שתיתאה לקטו לחמא על חד תרין תרין עמרין לחד ואתו כל רברבי כנשתא וחויאו למשה:
whwh bywma shthythah lqTw lkhma el khd thryn thryn emryn lkhd wathw kl rbrby knshtha wkhwyaw lmshh
On the sixth day, they gathered twice as much bread, two omers for each one; and all the rulers of the congregation came and told Moses.

ואמר להון הוא די מליל יי שבתא שבת קודשא קדם יי מחר ית די אתון עתידין למפא אפו וית די אתון עתידין לבשלא בשילו וית כל מותרא אצנעו לכון למטרא עד צפרא:
wamr lhwn hwa dy mlyl yy shbtha shbth qwdsha qdm yy mkhr yth dy athwn ethydyn lmpa apw wyth dy athwn ethydyn lbshla bshylw wyth kl mwthra atsnew lkwn lmTra ed tspra
He said to them, “This is that which Yahweh has spoken, ‘Tomorrow is a solemn rest, a holy Sabbath to Yahweh. Bake that which you want to bake, and boil that which you want to boil; and all that remains over lay up for yourselves to be kept until the morning.’”
24
ואצנעו יתה עד צפרא כמא דפקיד משה ולא סרי וריחשא לא הוה בה:
watsnew ythh ed tspra kma dpqyd mshh wla sry wrykhsha la hwh bh
They laid it up until the morning, as Moses ordered, and it didn’t become foul, and there were no worms in it.

ואמר משה אכלוהי יומא דין ארי שבתא יומא דין קדם יי יומא דין לא תשכחנה בחקלא:
wamr mshh aklwhy ywma dyn ary shbtha ywma dyn qdm yy ywma dyn la thshkkhnh bkhqla
Moses said, “Eat that today, for today is a Sabbath to Yahweh. Today you shall not find it in the field.

שתא יומין תלקטנה וביומא שביעאה שבתא לא יהי בה:
shtha ywmyn thlqTnh wbywma shbyeah shbtha la yhy bh
Six days you shall gather it, but on the seventh day is the Sabbath. In it there shall be none.”
27
והוה ביומא שביעאה נפקו מן עמא למלקט ולא אשכחו:
whwh bywma shbyeah npqw mn ema lmlqT wla ashkkhw
On the seventh day, some of the people went out to gather, and they found none.
28
ואמר יי למשה עד אימתי אתון מסרבין למטר פקודי ואוריתי:
wamr yy lmshh ed aymthy athwn msrbyn lmTr pqwdy wawrythy
Yahweh said to Moses, “How long do you refuse to keep my commandments and my laws?
29
חזו ארי יי יהב לכון שבתא על כן הוא יהב לכון ביומא שתיתאה לחם תרין יומין תיבו אנש תחותוהי לא יפוק אנש מאתרה ביומא שביעאה
khzw ary yy yhb lkwn shbtha el kn hwa yhb lkwn bywma shthythah lkhm thryn ywmyn thybw ansh thkhwthwhy la ypwq ansh mathrh bywma shbyeah
Behold, because Yahweh has given you the Sabbath, therefore he gives you on the sixth day the bread of two days. Everyone stay in his place. Let no one go out of his place on the seventh day.”

ונחו עמא ביומא שביעאה:
wnkhw ema bywma shbyeah
So the people rested on the seventh day.
31
וקרו בית ישראל ית שמה מן והוא כבר זרע גדא חור וטעמה כאסקריטון בדבש:
wqrw byth yshral yth shmh mn whwa kbr zre gda khwr wTemh kasqryTwn bdbsh
The house of Israel called its name “Manna”, and it was like coriander seed, white; and its taste was like wafers with honey.

ואמר משה דין פתגמא די פקיד יי מלי עמרא מנה למטרא לדריכון בדיל דיחזון ית לחמא די אוכלית יתכון במדברא באפקותי יתכון מארעא דמצרים:
wamr mshh dyn pthgma dy pqyd yy mly emra mnh lmTra ldrykwn bdyl dykhzwn yth lkhma dy awklyth ythkwn bmdbra bapqwthy ythkwn marea dmtsrym
Moses said, “This is the thing which Yahweh has commanded, ‘Let an omer-full of it be kept throughout your generations, that they may see the bread with which I fed you in the wilderness, when I brought you out of the land of Egypt.’”

ואמר משה לאהרן סב צלוחית חדא והב תמן מלי עמרא מן ואצנע יתה קדם יי למטרא לדריכון:
wamr mshh lahrn sb tslwkhyth khda whb thmn mly emra mn watsne ythh qdm yy lmTra ldrykwn
Moses said to Aaron, “Take a pot, and put an omer-full of manna in it, and lay it up before Yahweh, to be kept throughout your generations.”

כמא די פקיד יי למשה ואצנעה אהרן קדם סהדותא למטרא:
kma dy pqyd yy lmshh watsneh ahrn qdm shdwtha lmTra
As Yahweh commanded Moses, so Aaron laid it up before the Testimony, to be kept.
35
ובני ישראל אכלו ית מנא ארבעין שנין עד דמיתיהון לארעא יתבתא ית מנא אכלו עד דאתו לסיפי ארעא דכנען:
wbny yshral aklw yth mna arbeyn shnyn ed dmythyhwn larea ythbtha yth mna aklw ed dathw lsypy area dknen
The children of Israel ate the manna forty years, until they came to an inhabited land. They ate the manna until they came to the borders of the land of Canaan.
36
ועמרא חד מן עסרא בתלת סאין הוא:
wemra khd mn esra bthlth sayn hwa
Now an omer is one tenth of an ephah.
