ובתרי עסר ירחין הוא ירח אדר בתלת עסר יומין ביה דמטא פתגם מלכא וגזירת דיניה לאתעבדא ביומא דחשיבו בעלי דבבין דיהודאין למשלוט בהון ואתהפיך מן שמיא בגין זכותא דאבהתא די ישלטון יהודאין אינון בסנאיהון:
bsnayhwn aynwn yhwdayn yshlTwn dy dabhtha zkwtha bgyn shmya mn wathhpyk bhwn lmshlwT dyhwdayn dbbyn bely dkhshybw bywma lathebda dynyh wgzyrth mlka pthgm dmTa byh ywmyn esr bthlth adr yrkh hwa yrkhyn esr wbthry
Now in the twelfth month, which is the month Adar, on the thirteenth day of the month, when the king’s commandment and his decree came near to be put in execution, on the day that the enemies of the Jews hoped to conquer them, (but it turned out that the opposite happened, that the Jews conquered those who hated them),

אתכנשו יהודאין בקירויהון בכל פלכי דמלכא אחשורוש לאושטא ידא בכל דתבעין בישתהון וגבר לא קם באפיהון ארום נפל פחדיהון על כל עממיא:
emmya kl el pkhdyhwn npl arwm bapyhwn qm la wgbr byshthhwn dthbeyn bkl yda lawshTa akhshwrwsh dmlka plky bkl bqyrwyhwn yhwdayn athknshw
the Jews gathered themselves together in their cities throughout all the provinces of the King Ahasuerus, to lay hands on those who wanted to harm them. No one could withstand them, because the fear of them had fallen on all the people.

וכל רבני פלכיא ואסטרטילוסין והיפרכין ועבדי עבידתא די למלכא ממנן עלויהון ית יהודאין ארום נפל פחדא דמרדכי עלויהון:
elwyhwn dmrdky pkhda npl arwm yhwdayn yth elwyhwn mmnn lmlka dy ebydtha webdy whyprkyn wasTrTylwsyn plkya rbny wkl
All the princes of the provinces, the local governors, the governors, and those who did the king’s business helped the Jews, because the fear of Mordecai had fallen on them.

ארום אפוטרופוס ורב וסרכן מרדכי בבית מלכא ומטבעיה נפק בכל פלכיא ארום גברא מרדכי רב בית אבא למלכא ואזיל ומתרברב:
wmthrbrb wazyl lmlka aba byth rb mrdky gbra arwm plkya bkl npq wmTbeyh mlka bbyth mrdky wsrkn wrb apwTrwpws arwm
For Mordecai was great in the king’s house, and his fame went out throughout all the provinces, for the man Mordecai grew greater and greater.

ומחו יהודאין בכל בעלי דבביהון מחת קטילת סיפא וקטילת גולמין גלפין והובד נפשתא ועבדו בסנאיהון כרעותהון:
krewthhwn bsnayhwn webdw npshtha whwbd glpyn gwlmyn wqTylth sypa qTylth mkhth dbbyhwn bely bkl yhwdayn wmkhw
The Jews struck all their enemies with the stroke of the sword, and with slaughter and destruction, and did what they wanted to those who hated them.

ובשושן בירנתא קטלו יהודאין והובידו חמש מאה גוברין כולהון רופילין מדבית עמלק:
emlq mdbyth rwpylyn kwlhwn gwbryn mah khmsh whwbydw yhwdayn qTlw byrntha wbshwshn
In the citadel of Susa, the Jews killed and destroyed five hundred men.

וית פרשנדתא וית דלפון וית אספתא:
asptha wyth dlpwn wyth prshndtha wyth
They killed Parshandatha, Dalphon, Aspatha,

וית פרמשתא וית אריסי וית ארידי וית ויזתא:
wyztha wyth arydy wyth arysy wyth prmshtha wyth
Parmashta, Arisai, Aridai, and Vaizatha,

עשרתי בנוי דהמן בר המדתא מעיקא דיהודאין קטלו ובעדאה לא אושיטו ית ידיהון:
ydyhwn yth awshyTw la wbedah qTlw dyhwdayn meyqa hmdtha br dhmn bnwy eshrthy
the ten sons of Haman the son of Hammedatha, the Jews’ enemy, but they didn’t lay their hand on the plunder.

ביומא ההוא עלא מנין קטילין בשושן ברנתא קדם מלכא:
mlka qdm brntha bshwshn qTylyn mnyn ela hhwa bywma
On that day, the number of those who were slain in the citadel of Susa was brought before the king.

ואמר מלכא לאסתר מלכתא בשושן בירנתא קטילו יהודאין והובדו חמש מאה גובריא רופילין דמזרעית עמלק וית עשרתי בנוי דהמן במשאר פלכי מלכא מה עבדו ומה שאלתך ותתיהב לך ומה בעותיך עוד ותתעבד: :
wththebd ewd bewthyk wmh lk wththyhb shalthk wmh ebdw mh mlka plky bmshar dhmn bnwy eshrthy wyth emlq dmzreyth rwpylyn gwbrya mah khmsh whwbdw yhwdayn qTylw byrntha bshwshn mlktha lasthr mlka wamr
The king said to Esther the queen, “The Jews have slain and destroyed five hundred men in the citadel of Susa, including the ten sons of Haman; what then have they done in the rest of the king’s provinces! Now what is your petition? It shall be granted you. What is your further request? It shall be done.”

ואמרת אסתר אין על מלכא שפיר יתיהב רשו אוף מחר ליהודאין די בשושן למעבד יומא טבא וחדיא כד חזי למעבד על יומא דניסא וית עסרתי בנוי דהמן יזדפקון על קיסא: :
qysa el yzdpqwn dhmn bnwy esrthy wyth dnysa ywma el lmebd khzy kd wkhdya Tba ywma lmebd bshwshn dy lyhwdayn mkhr awp rshw ythyhb shpyr mlka el ayn asthr wamrth
Then Esther said, “If it pleases the king, let it be granted to the Jews who are in Susa to do tomorrow also according to today’s decree, and let Haman’s ten sons be hanged on the gallows.”

ואמר מלכא לאתעבדא כדין ואתיהיבת גזירת דינא בשושן וית עשרתי בנוי דהמן צליבו: ודין סדור צליבתהון דאצטליבו עם המן אבוהון על קיסא דזמן למרדכי רומיה חמשין אמין תלת אמין הוה נעיץ בארעא וארבע אמין ופלגא הוה רחיק פרשנדתא מן ארעא ופרשנדתא הוה צליב בתלת אמין והוה רחיק מן דלפון פלגות אמתא. דלפון הוה צליב בתלת אמין והוה רחיק מן אספתא פלגות אמתא. אספתא הוה צליב בתלת אמין והוה רחיק מן פורתא פלגות אמתא. פורתא הוה צליב בתלת אמין והוה רחיק מן אדליא פלגות אמתא. אדליא הוה צליב בתלת אמין והוה רחיק מן ארידתא פלגות אמתא. ארידתא הוה צליב בתלת אמין והוה רחיק מן פרמשתא פלגות אמתא. פרמשתא הוה צליב בתלת אמין והוה רחיק מן אריסי פלגות אמתא. אריסי הוה צליב בתלת אמין והוה רחיק מן ארידי פלגות אמתא. ארידי הוה צליב בתלת אמין והוה רחיק מן ויזתא פלגות אמתא. ויזתא הוה צליב בתלת אמין והוה רחיק מן המן פלגות אמתא. המן הוה צליב בתלת אמין והוה רחיק על רישיה תלת אמין בגין דלא ייכול מניה עופא וזרש ערקת עם שבעין בנין דאישתארו להמן דהוו הדרין על תרעיא ומתפרנסין ושמשי ספרא אתקטיל בסייפא ומאה ותמניא מיתו עם חמש מאה גוברין דאיתקטילו בשושן דהוו איתמנן על אשקקי מלכא:
mlka ashqqy el aythmnn dhww bshwshn daythqTylw gwbryn mah khmsh em mythw wthmnya wmah bsyypa athqTyl spra wshmshy wmthprnsyn threya el hdryn dhww lhmn dayshtharw bnyn shbeyn em erqth wzrsh ewpa mnyh yykwl dla bgyn amyn thlth ryshyh el rkhyq whwh amyn bthlth tslyb hwh hmn amtha plgwth hmn mn rkhyq whwh amyn bthlth tslyb hwh wyztha amtha plgwth wyztha mn rkhyq whwh amyn bthlth tslyb hwh arydy amtha plgwth arydy mn rkhyq whwh amyn bthlth tslyb hwh arysy amtha plgwth arysy mn rkhyq whwh amyn bthlth tslyb hwh prmshtha amtha plgwth prmshtha mn rkhyq whwh amyn bthlth tslyb hwh arydtha amtha plgwth arydtha mn rkhyq whwh amyn bthlth tslyb hwh adlya amtha plgwth adlya mn rkhyq whwh amyn bthlth tslyb hwh pwrtha amtha plgwth pwrtha mn rkhyq whwh amyn bthlth tslyb hwh asptha amtha plgwth asptha mn rkhyq whwh amyn bthlth tslyb hwh dlpwn amtha plgwth dlpwn mn rkhyq whwh amyn bthlth tslyb hwh wprshndtha area mn prshndtha rkhyq hwh wplga amyn warbe barea neyts hwh amyn thlth amyn khmshyn rwmyh lmrdky dzmn qysa el abwhwn hmn em datsTlybw tslybthhwn sdwr wdyn tslybw dhmn bnwy eshrthy wyth bshwshn dyna gzyrth wathyhybth kdyn lathebda mlka wamr
The king commanded this to be done. A decree was given out in Susa; and they hanged Haman’s ten sons.

ואיתכנשו יהודאין די בשושן אוף ביומא ארבע עסר לירח אדר וקטלו בשושן תלת מאה גוברין מדבית עמלק ובעדאה לא אושיטו ית ידיהון:
ydyhwn yth awshyTw la wbedah emlq mdbyth gwbryn mah thlth bshwshn wqTlw adr lyrkh esr arbe bywma awp bshwshn dy yhwdayn waythknshw
The Jews who were in Susa gathered themselves together on the fourteenth day also of the month Adar, and killed three hundred men in Susa; but they didn’t lay their hand on the plunder.

ושאר יהודאין די בפלכי דמלכא אתכנשו וקימו ית נפשיהון ואשכחו ניחא מבעלי דבביהון וקטלו בסנאיהון שבעין וחמשא אלפין מדבית עמלק ובעדאה לא אושיטו ית ידיהון:
ydyhwn yth awshyTw la wbedah emlq mdbyth alpyn wkhmsha shbeyn bsnayhwn wqTlw dbbyhwn mbely nykha washkkhw npshyhwn yth wqymw athknshw dmlka bplky dy yhwdayn wshar
The other Jews who were in the king’s provinces gathered themselves together, defended their lives, had rest from their enemies, and killed seventy-five thousand of those who hated them; but they didn’t lay their hand on the plunder.

ביום תלת עסרי לירח אדר הוה קטול בזרעית דעמלק ונייחא הוה לישראל בארבע עשר ביה ומעבד יתיה יום משתיא וחדוא:
wkhdwa mshthya ywm ythyh wmebd byh eshr barbe lyshral hwh wnyykha demlq bzreyth qTwl hwh adr lyrkh esry thlth bywm
This was done on the thirteenth day of the month Adar; and on the fourteenth day of that month they rested and made it a day of feasting and gladness.

ויהודאין די בשושן אתכנשו לשיצאה ית בנוי דעמלק בתלת עשר ביה ובארבע עשר ביה ונחו בחמשא עשר ביה ומעבד יתיה יום משתיא וחדוא:
wkhdwa mshthya ywm ythyh wmebd byh eshr bkhmsha wnkhw byh eshr wbarbe byh eshr bthlth demlq bnwy yth lshytsah athknshw bshwshn dy wyhwdayn
But the Jews who were in Susa assembled together on the thirteenth and on the fourteenth days of the month; and on the fifteenth day of that month, they rested, and made it a day of feasting and gladness.

בגין כן יהודאין פציחאי דיתבין בקרוי פציחיא עבדין ית יום ארבע עשר לירח אדר חדותא ומשקיא ויומא טבא ומשדרין דורון גבר לחבריה:
lkhbryh gbr dwrwn wmshdryn Tba wywma wmshqya khdwtha adr lyrkh eshr arbe ywm yth ebdyn ptsykhya bqrwy dythbyn ptsykhay yhwdayn kn bgyn
Therefore the Jews of the villages, who live in the unwalled towns, make the fourteenth day of the month Adar a day of gladness and feasting, a holiday, and a day of sending presents of food to one another.

וכתב מרדכי ית פתגמיא האלין ושדר פטקין לות כל יהודאין די בכל פילכי דמלכא אחשורוש דקריבין ודרחיקין:
wdrkhyqyn dqrybyn akhshwrwsh dmlka pylky bkl dy yhwdayn kl lwth pTqyn wshdr halyn pthgmya yth mrdky wkthb
Mordecai wrote these things, and sent letters to all the Jews who were in all the provinces of the King Ahasuerus, both near and far,

לקיימא גזירת דינא עילויהון למהוי עבדין ית יום ארבע עשר לירח אדר וית חמשא עשר ביה בכל שתא ושתא:
wshtha shtha bkl byh eshr khmsha wyth adr lyrkh eshr arbe ywm yth ebdyn lmhwy eylwyhwn dyna gzyrth lqyyma
to enjoin them that they should keep the fourteenth and fifteenth days of the month Adar yearly,

כזמן יומיא די נחו בהון יהודאין מבעלי דבביהון ובירחא די אתהפך להון מדונא לחדוא ומאבלא ליומא טבא למעבד יתהון יום משתיא וחדוא ולשדרא דורון אנש לחבריה ומעהא דצדקתא מתנן דחשיכי:
dkhshyky mthnn dtsdqtha wmeha lkhbryh ansh dwrwn wlshdra wkhdwa mshthya ywm ythhwn lmebd Tba lywma wmabla lkhdwa mdwna lhwn athhpk dy wbyrkha dbbyhwn mbely yhwdayn bhwn nkhw dy ywmya kzmn
as the days in which the Jews had rest from their enemies, and the month which was turned to them from sorrow to gladness, and from mourning into a holiday; that they should make them days of feasting and gladness, and of sending presents of food to one another, and gifts to the needy.

וקבילו עלויהון כולהון יהודאין כחדא ית די שריאו למעבד וית די גזר כתב מרדכי בגינהון:
bgynhwn mrdky kthb gzr dy wyth lmebd shryaw dy yth kkhda yhwdayn kwlhwn elwyhwn wqbylw
The Jews accepted the custom that they had begun, as Mordecai had written to them,

ארום המן בר המדתא דמן יחוס דאגג מעיק כל יהודאין חשיב על יהודאין להובדותהון צבע פיסא איהו הוא עדבא לשגושיהון ולהובדיהון:
wlhwbdyhwn lshgwshyhwn edba hwa ayhw pysa tsbe lhwbdwthhwn yhwdayn el khshyb yhwdayn kl meyq dagg ykhws dmn hmdtha br hmn arwm
because Haman the son of Hammedatha, the Agagite, the enemy of all the Jews, had plotted against the Jews to destroy them, and had cast “Pur”, that is the lot, to consume them and to destroy them;

וכד עלת אסתר קדם מלכא אמר לה מלכא יתוב זמיוניה בישא דחשיב למעבד למרדכי וליהודאין על רישיה ויצלבון יתיה וית בנוי על קיסא:
qysa el bnwy wyth ythyh wytslbwn ryshyh el wlyhwdayn lmrdky lmebd dkhshyb bysha zmywnyh ythwb mlka lh amr mlka qdm asthr elth wkd
but when this became known to the king, he commanded by letters that his wicked plan, which he had planned against the Jews, should return on his own head, and that he and his sons should be hanged on the gallows.

בגין כן קרו ליומיא האלין פוריא על שום פיסא בגין כן נטרין ליה זמן שתא בשתא בגין כן דיפרסמון יומי נסיא ופתגמי מגלתא הדא לאשתמעא לכל עמא בית ישראל למהויהון ידעין מה חזו למקבע יומי פוריא האלין בגין כן דאתעביד בהון נסא למרדכי ואסתר וידעון פורקנא דמטת להון:
lhwn dmTth pwrqna wydewn wasthr lmrdky nsa bhwn dathebyd kn bgyn halyn pwrya ywmy lmqbe khzw mh ydeyn lmhwyhwn yshral byth ema lkl lashthmea hda mgltha wpthgmy nsya ywmy dyprsmwn kn bgyn bshtha shtha zmn lyh nTryn kn bgyn pysa shwm el pwrya halyn lywmya qrw kn bgyn
Therefore they called these days “Purim”, from the word “Pur.” Therefore because of all the words of this letter, and of that which they had seen concerning this matter, and that which had come to them,

קימו וקבילו יהודאין קימא עלויהון ועלוי בניהון ועלוי כל דירי דמתוספין עליהון ולא יעבר קימא די יהון עבדין ית תרין יומיא האלין למקרי ית מגלתא במכתב רושם עבראי בבית כנישתהון בחד עסר ותרי עסר ותלת עסר וארבע עסר ובחמשא עסר בגו פציחיא ולחיתא דפלכיא בקרויא כפום זמניהון:
zmnyhwn kpwm bqrwya dplkya wlkhytha ptsykhya bgw esr wbkhmsha esr warbe esr wthlth esr wthry esr bkhd knyshthhwn bbyth ebray rwshm bmkthb mgltha yth lmqry halyn ywmya thryn yth ebdyn yhwn dy qyma yebr wla elyhwn dmthwspyn dyry kl welwy bnyhwn welwy elwyhwn qyma yhwdayn wqbylw qymw
the Jews established and imposed on themselves, on their descendants, and on all those who joined themselves to them, so that it should not fail that they would keep these two days according to what was written and according to its appointed time every year;

ויומיא האלין אתחיבו למהוי להון דכרנא ולאתעבדא בהון משתיא בכל דרא ודרא יחוסא דכהני וליואי ויחוסא דכל בית ישראל דשרין בכל פלכא ופלכא ודירין בכל קרתא וקרתא ויומי פוריא האלין לא יעברון מגו יהודאין ודכרנהון לא ישתיצי מבניהון:
mbnyhwn yshthytsy la wdkrnhwn yhwdayn mgw yebrwn la halyn pwrya wywmy wqrtha qrtha bkl wdyryn wplka plka bkl dshryn yshral byth dkl wykhwsa wlyway dkhny ykhwsa wdra dra bkl mshthya bhwn wlathebda dkrna lhwn lmhwy athkhybw halyn wywmya
and that these days should be remembered and kept throughout every generation, every family, every province, and every city; and that these days of Purim should not fail from among the Jews, nor their memory perish from their offspring.

וכתבת אסתר מלכתא בת אביחיל ומרדכי היהודי ית כל מגלתא הדא ית תקפא דנסא לקימא ית אגרתא דפוריא הדא תניינותא:
thnyynwtha hda dpwrya agrtha yth lqyma dnsa thqpa yth hda mgltha kl yth hyhwdy wmrdky abykhyl bth mlktha asthr wkthbth
Then Esther the queen, the daughter of Abihail, and Mordecai the Jew wrote with all authority to confirm this second letter of Purim.

ושדר פטקין לות כל יהודאין למאה ועסרין ושבע פילכין מלכות אחשורוש פתגמי שלמא והימנותא:
whymnwtha shlma pthgmy akhshwrwsh mlkwth pylkyn wshbe wesryn lmah yhwdayn kl lwth pTqyn wshdr
He sent letters to all the Jews in the hundred twenty-seven provinces of the kingdom of Ahasuerus with words of peace and truth,

לקימא ית יומי פוריא האלין באדר בתראה בזמן עבורא היכמא דקים עליהון מרדכי יהודאי ואסתר מלכתא והיכמא דקימו יהודאי על נפשהון ועל בניהון למהויהון דכירין פתגמי צומיא וצלותהון:
wtslwthhwn tswmya pthgmy dkyryn lmhwyhwn bnyhwn wel npshhwn el yhwday dqymw whykma mlktha wasthr yhwday mrdky elyhwn dqym hykma ebwra bzmn bthrah badr halyn pwrya ywmy yth lqyma
to confirm these days of Purim in their appointed times, as Mordecai the Jew and Esther the queen had decreed, and as they had imposed upon themselves and their descendants in the matter of the fastings and their mourning.
