מאן הוא חכימא דיכיל למיקם קביל חוכמתא דיי ולמדע פשר מליא בנביאיא חוכמתא דגבר חכים תנהר זיו אפוהי ביני צדיקיא וחציף אפין מתחלפן כל אורחתיה מטב לביש:
lbysh mTb awrkhthyh kl mthkhlpn apyn wkhtsyp tsdyqya byny apwhy zyw thnhr khkym dgbr khwkmtha bnbyaya mlya pshr wlmde dyy khwkmtha qbyl lmyqm dykyl khkyma hwa man
Who is like the wise man? And who knows the interpretation of a thing? A man’s wisdom makes his face shine, and the hardness of his face is changed.

הוי זהיר ית פומך על גזירת מלכא למיטר מה די פקדנך ועל עיסק מומהא דיי אזדהר דלא תימי בשום מימריה על מגן:
mgn el mymryh bshwm thymy dla azdhr dyy mwmha eysq wel pqdnk dy mh lmyTr mlka gzyrth el pwmk yth zhyr hwy
I say, “Keep the king’s command!” because of the oath to God.

ובעדן רוגזא דיי לא תנוח לצלאה קדמוהי אתבהיל קדמוהי איזיל וצלי ותבעי רחמין מניה בגין דלא תקום בפתגם ביש ארום רבון כל עלמיא יי כל דיצבי יעביד:
yebyd dytsby kl yy elmya kl rbwn arwm bysh bpthgm thqwm dla bgyn mnyh rkhmyn wthbey wtsly ayzyl qdmwhy athbhyl qdmwhy ltslah thnwkh la dyy rwgza wbedn
Don’t be hasty to go out of his presence. Don’t persist in an evil thing, for he does whatever pleases him,

באתר דאית גזירת מימרא דמלכא דשליט על כל עלמא מתעבדא בבהילו ומן הוא גברא דמחי בידיה ויימר ליה מה עבדתא:
ebdtha mh lyh wyymr bydyh dmkhy gbra hwa wmn bbhylw mthebda elma kl el dshlyT dmlka mymra gzyrth dayth bathr
for the king’s word is supreme. Who can say to him, “What are you doing?”

גבר די נטיר פקודיא דיי לא ינדע מדעם ביש לעלמא דאתי ועדן צלותא ודין וקשוט אשתמודע בלב חכימיא:
khkymya blb ashthmwde wqshwT wdyn tslwtha wedn dathy lelma bysh mdem ynde la dyy pqwdya nTyr dy gbr
Whoever keeps the commandment shall not come to harm, and his wise heart will know the time and procedure.

ארום לכל עסקא אית עדן טב וביש ועל דין וקשוט אתדן כל עלמא וכד אתגזר מן קדם יי למהוי פורענותא בעלמא על חובת אנשין עבדי בישא דסגיאין עלויהון:
elwyhwn dsgyayn bysha ebdy anshyn khwbth el belma pwrenwtha lmhwy yy qdm mn athgzr wkd elma kl athdn wqshwT dyn wel wbysh Tb edn ayth esqa lkl arwm
For there is a time and procedure for every purpose, although the misery of man is heavy on him.

ארום ליתוי חכים מה דעתיד למהוי בסופיה עלוהי ארום בעדן די יהי רעוא מן קדם יי לאבאשא ליה מאן הוא די יחוי ליה:
lyh ykhwy dy hwa man lyh labasha yy qdm mn rewa yhy dy bedn arwm elwhy bswpyh lmhwy dethyd mh khkym lythwy arwm
For he doesn’t know that which will be; for who can tell him how it will be?

לית אנש דישלוט ברוח נשמתא לממנע ית נשמתא דחיי בגין דלא יפסוק מן גופא דאנשא ולית שלטונא ביום מותא לשיזבא גבר לחבריה ולית מני זינא מסיען בקרבא ולא ישיזיב חוב ית מרוהי ביום דינא רבא:
rba dyna bywm mrwhy yth khwb yshyzyb wla bqrba msyen zyna mny wlyth lkhbryh gbr lshyzba mwtha bywm shlTwna wlyth dansha gwpa mn ypswq dla bgyn dkhyy nshmtha yth lmmne nshmtha brwkh dyshlwT ansh lyth
There is no man who has power over the spirit to contain the spirit; neither does he have power over the day of death. There is no discharge in war; neither shall wickedness deliver those who practice it.

ית כל דין חזית די הוה בעלמא ויהבית ית לבבי למדע ית כל עובדא דאתעביד בעלמא תחות שמשא בעדן די ישלוט אנש באנש לאבאשא ליה:
lyh labasha bansh ansh yshlwT dy bedn shmsha thkhwth belma dathebyd ewbda kl yth lmde lbby yth wyhbyth belma hwh dy khzyth dyn kl yth
All this I have seen, and applied my mind to every work that is done under the sun. There is a time in which one man has power over another to his hurt.

ובקושטא חזית חיביא דאתקברו ואשתיציאו מעלמא מאתר קדיש דצדיקיא שרין תמן ואזלו לאתוקדא בגיהנם ואתנשין מבין יתבי קרתא והיכמא דעבדו אתעביד להון אף דין הבלו:
hblw dyn ap lhwn athebyd debdw whykma qrtha ythby mbyn wathnshyn bgyhnm lathwqda wazlw thmn shryn dtsdyqya qdysh mathr melma washthytsyaw dathqbrw khybya khzyth wbqwshTa
So I saw the wicked buried. Indeed they came also from holiness. They went and were forgotten in the city where they did this. This also is vanity.

ומן בגלל דלית מתעביד פתגם ביש פורענות רשיעא בפריע על עובדיהון בישיא בגין כן אתמלי לבא דבני אנשא בהון למעבד ביש בעלמא הדין:
hdyn belma bysh lmebd bhwn ansha dbny lba athmly kn bgyn byshya ewbdyhwn el bprye rshyea pwrenwth bysh pthgm mthebyd dlyth bgll wmn
Because sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil.

ובזמן דחיבא יעביד ביש מאה שנין ומן קדם יי אתיהיבת ליה ארכא בגין דיתוב ארום אתגלי ליה ברוח קודשא וידעית אנא דיהי טב לעלמא דאתי לדחליא דיי דדחלין מן קדמוהי ועבדין רעותיה:
rewthyh webdyn qdmwhy mn ddkhlyn dyy ldkhlya dathy lelma Tb dyhy ana wydeyth qwdsha brwkh lyh athgly arwm dythwb bgyn arka lyh athyhybth yy qdm wmn shnyn mah bysh yebyd dkhyba wbzmn
Though a sinner commits crimes a hundred times, and lives long, yet surely I know that it will be better with those who fear God, who are reverent before him.

וטב לא יהי לרשיעא ולא יהי ליה ארכא לעלמא דאתי ובעלמא הדין אתקטעון יומי חיוהי ויערקון ויחלפון כטללא בגין דליתוהי דחיל מן קדם יי:
yy qdm mn dkhyl dlythwhy bgyn kTlla wykhlpwn wyerqwn khywhy ywmy athqTewn hdyn wbelma dathy lelma arka lyh yhy wla lrshyea yhy la wTb
But it shall not be well with the wicked, neither shall he lengthen days like a shadow, because he doesn’t fear God.

אית הבלו דאתגזר למהוי מתעביד על אפי ארעא דאית צדיקיא דמטי להון ביש כאלו אנון עבדין כעובדי חיביא ואית חיבין דמטי להון טב כאילו אנון עבדין כעובדי צדיקיא וחזית ברוח קודשא דבישא דמטי לצדיקיא בעלמא הדין לא על חוביהון אלהן למגבי מנהון חובא קלילא למהוי אגריהון שלים לעלמא דאתי וטב דמטי לחיביא בעלמא הדין לא על זכותיהון אלא למפרע להון אגרא על זכותיא קלילא דעבדו למהויהון אכלין אגריהון בעלמא הדין ולהובדא חולקיהון לעלמא דאתי אמרית במימרי דאף דין הבלו:
hblw dyn dap bmymry amryth dathy lelma khwlqyhwn wlhwbda hdyn belma agryhwn aklyn lmhwyhwn debdw qlyla zkwthya el agra lhwn lmpre ala zkwthyhwn el la hdyn belma lkhybya dmTy wTb dathy lelma shlym agryhwn lmhwy qlyla khwba mnhwn lmgby alhn khwbyhwn el la hdyn belma ltsdyqya dmTy dbysha qwdsha brwkh wkhzyth tsdyqya kewbdy ebdyn anwn kaylw Tb lhwn dmTy khybyn wayth khybya kewbdy ebdyn anwn kalw bysh lhwn dmTy tsdyqya dayth area apy el mthebyd lmhwy dathgzr hblw ayth
There is a vanity which is done on the earth, that there are righteous men to whom it happens according to the work of the wicked. Again, there are wicked men to whom it happens according to the work of the righteous. I said that this also is vanity.

ושבחית אנא ית חדות אוריתא ארום לית טב לאנש בעלמא הדין תחות שמשא ארום אלהין למיכל ולמשתי ולמחדי בטורחיה ובחולקיה דאתיהיב ליה מן שמיא ולא יושיט ידיה בחטופין ואניסא והוא ילויניה לשלם לעלמא ההוא ויקביל אגר שלים על טורחיה די טרח בשלמותא כל יומי חיוהי דיהב ליה יי בעלמא הדין תחות שמשא:
shmsha thkhwth hdyn belma yy lyh dyhb khywhy ywmy kl bshlmwtha Trkh dy Twrkhyh el shlym agr wyqbyl hhwa lelma lshlm ylwynyh whwa wanysa bkhTwpyn ydyh ywshyT wla shmya mn lyh dathyhyb wbkhwlqyh bTwrkhyh wlmkhdy wlmshthy lmykl alhyn arwm shmsha thkhwth hdyn belma lansh Tb lyth arwm awrytha khdwth yth ana wshbkhyth
Then I commended mirth, because a man has no better thing under the sun than to eat, to drink, and to be joyful: for that will accompany him in his labor all the days of his life which God has given him under the sun.

כמא די יהבית ית לבבי למנדע חוכמת אוריתא ולמחזי ית גוון דאתעביד על ארעא ארום אף חכימא דיצבי למעסק באוריתא ולאשכחא חוכמתא טורחא הוה ליה ארום אף ביממא לא ינוח ובליליא שינתא בעינוהי לא חזי:
khzy la beynwhy shyntha wblylya ynwkh la bymma ap arwm lyh hwh Twrkha khwkmtha wlashkkha bawrytha lmesq dytsby khkyma ap arwm area el dathebyd gwwn yth wlmkhzy awrytha khwkmth lmnde lbby yth yhbyth dy kma
When I applied my heart to know wisdom, and to see the business that is done on the earth (even though eyes see no sleep day or night),

וחזית אנא ית כל עובד גבורתא דיי ארום דחילא הוא ולית ליה רשו לאנש לאשכחא ית עובד גבורתא דיי דאתעביד בעלמא הדין תחות שמשא כד יטרח אנש למתבע מה דעתיד למהוי ולא ישכח ואף אם יימר גבר חכים במימריה למנדע מה דעתיד למהוי בסוף יומיא לית ליה רשו למשכח:
lmshkkh rshw lyh lyth ywmya bswp lmhwy dethyd mh lmnde bmymryh khkym gbr yymr am wap yshkkh wla lmhwy dethyd mh lmthbe ansh yTrkh kd shmsha thkhwth hdyn belma dathebyd dyy gbwrtha ewbd yth lashkkha lansh rshw lyh wlyth hwa dkhyla arwm dyy gbwrtha ewbd kl yth ana wkhzyth
then I saw all the work of God, that man can’t find out the work that is done under the sun, because however much a man labors to seek it out, yet he won’t find it. Yes even though a wise man thinks he can comprehend it, he won’t be able to find it.
