ܡܢܘ ܐܝܟ ܚܟܝܡܐ ܘܡ̇ܢ ܝܕܥ ܦܫܪܗ̇ ܕܡܠܬܐ ܚܟܡܬܗ ܕܓܒܪܐ ܬܢܗܪ ܐ̈ܦܘܗܝ ܘܕܚ̈ܨܝܦܢ ܐ̈ܦܘܗܝ ܢܣܬܢܐ
mnw 'yk khkym' wmn yde pshrh dmlth' khkmthh dgbr' thnhr 'pwhy wdkhtsypn 'pwhy nsthn'
Who is like the wise man? And who knows the interpretation of a thing? A man’s wisdom makes his face shine, and the hardness of his face is changed.

ܦܘܡܗ ܕܡܠܟܐ ܛܪ ܘܥܠ ܡܠܬ ܡܘܡ̈ܬܐ ܕܐܠܗܐ
pwmh dmlk' Tr wel mlth mwmth' d'lh'
I say, “Keep the king’s command!” because of the oath to God.

ܠܐ ܬܣܬܪܗܒ ܡܢ ܩܕܡܘܗܝ ܙܠ ܘܠܐ ܬܩܘܡ ܒܦܬܓܡ ܒܝܫ ܡܛܠ ܕܟܠ ܕܢܨܒܐ ܢܥܒܕ
l' thsthrhb mn qdmwhy zl wl' thqwm bpthgm bysh mTl dkl dntsb' nebd
Don’t be hasty to go out of his presence. Don’t persist in an evil thing, for he does whatever pleases him,

ܐܝܟܢܐ ܕܡܡܠܠ ܡܠܟܐ ܫܠܝܛ ܘܡܢܘ ܢܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܡܢܐ ܥܒܕ ܐܢܬ
'ykn' dmmll mlk' shlyT wmnw n'mr lh mn' ebd 'nth
for the king’s word is supreme. Who can say to him, “What are you doing?”

ܕܢܛܪ ܦܘܩܕܢܐ ܠܐ ܝܕܥ ܡܠܬܐ ܒܝܫܬܐ ܘܙܒܢܐ ܘܕܝܢܐ ܝܕܥ ܠܒܗ ܕܚܟܝܡܐ
dnTr pwqdn' l' yde mlth' byshth' wzbn' wdyn' yde lbh dkhkym'
Whoever keeps the commandment shall not come to harm, and his wise heart will know the time and procedure.

ܡܛܠ ܕܠܟܠ ܨܒܘ ܐܝܬ ܙܒܢܐ ܘܕܝܢܐ ܡܛܠ ܕܒܝܫܬܗ ܕܒܪܢܫܐ ܣܓܝܐܐ ܥܠܘܗܝ
mTl dlkl tsbw 'yth zbn' wdyn' mTl dbyshthh dbrnsh' sgy'' elwhy
For there is a time and procedure for every purpose, although the misery of man is heavy on him.

ܡܛܠ ܕܠܝܬ ܕܝܕܥ ܠܡܐ ܕܗܘܐ ܘܡܢܐ ܢܗܘܐ ܡܢ ܒܬܪܗ ܡܢܘ ܡܚܘܐ ܠܗ
mTl dlyth dyde lm' dhw' wmn' nhw' mn bthrh mnw mkhw' lh
For he doesn’t know that which will be; for who can tell him how it will be?

ܠܝܬ ܐܢܫ ܕܫܠܝܛ ܒܪܘܚܐ ܠܡܟܠܐ ܪܘܚܐ ܘܠܝܬ ܫܘܠܛܢܐ ܒܝܘܡܐ ܕܡܘܬܐ ܘܠܝܬ ܦܘܠܛܐ ܒܝܘܡܐ ܕܩܪܒܐ ܘܠܐ ܡܫܘܙܒ ܪܘܫܥܐ ܠܡܪ̈ܘܗܝ
lyth 'nsh dshlyT brwkh' lmkl' rwkh' wlyth shwlTn' bywm' dmwth' wlyth pwlT' bywm' dqrb' wl' mshwzb rwshe' lmrwhy
There is no man who has power over the spirit to contain the spirit; neither does he have power over the day of death. There is no discharge in war; neither shall wickedness deliver those who practice it.

ܘܝܬ ܟܠ ܗܢܐ ܚܙܝܬ ܘܝܗܒܬ ܠܒܝ ܠܡܕܥ ܟܠ ܥܒܕ ܕܡܬܥܒܕ ܬܚܝܬ ܫܡܫܐ ܘܙܒܢܐ ܕܐܫܬܠܛ ܒܪ ܐܢܫܐ ܒܒܪܢܫܐ ܠܡܒܐܫܘ ܠܗ
wyth kl hn' khzyth wyhbth lby lmde kl ebd dmthebd thkhyth shmsh' wzbn' d'shthlT br 'nsh' bbrnsh' lmb'shw lh
All this I have seen, and applied my mind to every work that is done under the sun. There is a time in which one man has power over another to his hurt.

ܘܗܝܕܝܢ ܚܙܝܬ ܪ̈ܫܝܥܐ ܕܩܒܝܪ̈ܝܢ ܘܐܬܝܢ ܘܡܢ ܐܬܪܐ ܕܩܘܕܫܐ ܐܙܠܘ ܘܐܬܛܥܝܘ ܒܡܕܝܢܬܐ ܕܗܟܢܐ ܥܒܕܘ ܘܐܦ ܗܢܐ ܗܒܠܐ
whydyn khzyth rshye' dqbyryn w'thyn wmn 'thr' dqwdsh' 'zlw w'thTeyw bmdynth' dhkn' ebdw w'p hn' hbl'
So I saw the wicked buried. Indeed they came also from holiness. They went and were forgotten in the city where they did this. This also is vanity.

ܡܛܠ ܕܠܐ ܡܬܥܒܕܐ ܬܒܥܬܐ ܡܢ ܥ̇ܒ̈ܕܝ ܒܝܫ̈ܬܐ ܒܥܓܠ ܡܛܠ ܗܢܐ ܐܬܡܠܝ ܠܒܐ ܕܒܢ̈ܝܢܫܐ ܒܗܘܢ ܠܡܥܒܕ ܕܒܝܫ
mTl dl' mthebd' thbeth' mn ebdy byshth' begl mTl hn' 'thmly lb' dbnynsh' bhwn lmebd dbysh
Because sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil.

ܡ̇ܢ ܕܚܛܐ ܥܒܕ ܒܝܫ̈ܬܐ ܡܐܐ ܘܡܓܪ ܠܗ ܘܝܕܥ ܐܢܐ ܕܢܗܘܐ ܛܒ ܠܕܚ̈ܠܘܗܝ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܕܢܕܚܠܘܢ ܡܢ ܩܕܡܘܗܝ
mn dkhT' ebd byshth' m'' wmgr lh wyde 'n' dnhw' Tb ldkhlwhy dmry' dndkhlwn mn qdmwhy
Though a sinner commits crimes a hundred times, and lives long, yet surely I know that it will be better with those who fear God, who are reverent before him.

ܘܛܒܬܐ ܠܐ ܬܗܘܐ ܠܪܫܝܥܐ ܘܠܐ ܢܓܪ ܝܘܡ̈ܬܐ ܐܝܟ ܛܠܠܐ ܡܛܘܠ ܕܠܐ ܐܝܬܘܗܝ ܕܚܠ ܡܢ ܩܕܡ ܐܠܗܐ
wTbth' l' thhw' lrshye' wl' ngr ywmth' 'yk Tll' mTwl dl' 'ythwhy dkhl mn qdm 'lh'
But it shall not be well with the wicked, neither shall he lengthen days like a shadow, because he doesn’t fear God.

ܐܝܬ ܗܒܠܐ ܕܐܬܥܒܕ ܥܠ ܐܪܥܐ ܡܛܠ ܕܐܝܬ ܙܕܝܩ̈ܐ ܕܡܛܐ ܠܘܬܗܘܢ ܐܝܟ ܥ̇ܒܕܐ ܕܪ̈ܫܝܥܐ ܘܐܝܬ ܪ̈ܫܝܥܐ ܕܡܛܐ ܠܘܬܗܘܢ ܐܝܟ ܥ̇ܒܕܐ ܕܙܕ̈ܝܩܐ ܘܐܡܪܬ ܕܐܦ ܗܢܐ ܗܒܠܐ
'yth hbl' d'thebd el 're' mTl d'yth zdyq' dmT' lwthhwn 'yk ebd' drshye' w'yth rshye' dmT' lwthhwn 'yk ebd' dzdyq' w'mrth d'p hn' hbl'
There is a vanity which is done on the earth, that there are righteous men to whom it happens according to the work of the wicked. Again, there are wicked men to whom it happens according to the work of the righteous. I said that this also is vanity.

ܘܫܒܚܬ ܐܢܐ ܝܬ ܚܕܘܬܐ ܕܠܝܬ ܕܛܒ ܠܒܪܢܫܐ ܬܚܝܬ ܫܡܫܐ ܐܠܐ ܠܡܐܟܠ ܘܠܡܫܬܐ ܘܠܡܚܕܐ ܘܗܘ ܠܘܐ ܠܗ ܒܥܡܠܗ ܟܠ ܝܘ̈ܡܝ ܚܝ̈ܘܗܝ ܕܝܗܒ ܠܗ ܐܠܗܐ ܬܚܝܬ ܫܡܫܐ
wshbkhth 'n' yth khdwth' dlyth dTb lbrnsh' thkhyth shmsh' 'l' lm'kl wlmshth' wlmkhd' whw lw' lh bemlh kl ywmy khywhy dyhb lh 'lh' thkhyth shmsh'
Then I commended mirth, because a man has no better thing under the sun than to eat, to drink, and to be joyful: for that will accompany him in his labor all the days of his life which God has given him under the sun.

ܡܛܠ ܗܢܐ ܝܗܒܬ ܠܒܝ ܠܡܕܥ ܚܟܡܬܐ ܘܠܡܚܙܐ ܥܢܝܢܐ ܕܐܬܥܒܕ ܥܠ ܐܪܥܐ ܡܛܠ ܕܒܐܝܡܡܐ ܘܒܠܠܝܐ ܫܢܬܐ ܒܥܝ̈ܢܘܗܝ ܠܐ ܚܙܐ
mTl hn' yhbth lby lmde khkmth' wlmkhz' enyn' d'thebd el 're' mTl db'ymm' wblly' shnth' beynwhy l' khz'
When I applied my heart to know wisdom, and to see the business that is done on the earth (even though eyes see no sleep day or night),

ܘܚܙܝܬ ܐܢܐ ܟܠ ܥ̇ܒܕܐ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܡܛܠ ܕܠܐ ܢܬܡܨܐ ܒܪܢܫܐ ܝܬ ܥ̇ܒܕܐ ܕܐܬܥܒܕ ܬܚܝܬ ܫܡܫܐ ܟܠ ܕܥܡܠ ܒܪܢܫܐ ܕܢܒܥܐ ܠܐ ܢܫܟܚ ܘܟܠ ܕܢܐܡܪ ܚܟܝܡܐ ܠܡܕܥ ܠܐ ܢܬܡܨܐ ܠܡܫܟܚܘ
wkhzyth 'n' kl ebd' d'lh' mTl dl' nthmts' brnsh' yth ebd' d'thebd thkhyth shmsh' kl deml brnsh' dnbe' l' nshkkh wkl dn'mr khkym' lmde l' nthmts' lmshkkhw
then I saw all the work of God, that man can’t find out the work that is done under the sun, because however much a man labors to seek it out, yet he won’t find it. Yes even though a wise man thinks he can comprehend it, he won’t be able to find it.
