29 verses
1
לא תחזי ית תורא דאחוך או ית אמריה דטען ותתכבש מנהון אתבא תתבנון לאחוך:
lakhwk ththbnwn athba mnhwn wththkbsh dTen amryh yth aw dakhwk thwra yth thkhzy la
You shall not see your brother’s ox or his sheep go astray and hide yourself from them. You shall surely bring them again to your brother.

ואם לא קרב אחוך לותך ולא ידעת ליה ותכנשניה לגו ביתך ויהי עמך עד דיתבע אחוך יתיה ותתיבניה ליה:
lyh wththybnyh ythyh akhwk dythbe ed emk wyhy bythk lgw wthknshnyh lyh ydeth wla lwthk akhwk qrb la wam
If your brother isn’t near to you, or if you don’t know him, then you shall bring it home to your house, and it shall be with you until your brother comes looking for it, and you shall restore it to him.

וכן תעבד לחמריה וכן תעבד לכסותיה וכן תעבד לכל אבדת אחוך די תיבד מניה ותשכחנה לית לך רשו לאתכסאה:
lathksah rshw lk lyth wthshkkhnh mnyh thybd dy akhwk abdth lkl thebd wkn lkswthyh thebd wkn lkhmryh thebd wkn
So you shall do with his donkey. So you shall do with his garment. So you shall do with every lost thing of your brother’s, which he has lost and you have found. You may not hide yourself.

לא תחזי ית חמרא דאחוך או תוריה רמן בארחא ותתכבש מנהון אקמא תקים עמיה:
emyh thqym aqma mnhwn wththkbsh barkha rmn thwryh aw dakhwk khmra yth thkhzy la
You shall not see your brother’s donkey or his ox fallen down by the way, and hide yourself from them. You shall surely help him to lift them up again.

לא יהי תקון זין דגבר על אתתא ולא יתקן גבר בתקוני אתתא ארי מרחק קדם יי אלהך כל עבד אלין:
alyn ebd kl alhk yy qdm mrkhq ary aththa bthqwny gbr ythqn wla aththa el dgbr zyn thqwn yhy la
A woman shall not wear men’s clothing, neither shall a man put on women’s clothing; for whoever does these things is an abomination to Yahweh your God.

ארי יערע קנא דצפרא קדמך בארחא בכל אילן או על ארעא אפרחין או ביעין ואמא רבעא על אפרחין או על ביעין לא תסב אמא על בניא:
bnya el ama thsb la byeyn el aw aprkhyn el rbea wama byeyn aw aprkhyn area el aw ayln bkl barkha qdmk dtspra qna yere ary
If you come across a bird’s nest on the way, in any tree or on the ground, with young ones or eggs, and the hen sitting on the young, or on the eggs, you shall not take the hen with the young.

שלחא תשלח ית אמא וית בניא תסב לך בדיל דייטב לך ותוריך יומין:
ywmyn wthwryk lk dyyTb bdyl lk thsb bnya wyth ama yth thshlkh shlkha
You shall surely let the hen go, but the young you may take for yourself, that it may be well with you, and that you may prolong your days.

ארי תבני ביתא חדתא ותעבד תיקא לאגרך ולא תשוי חובת דין דקטול בביתך ארי יפל דנפל מניה:
mnyh dnpl ypl ary bbythk dqTwl dyn khwbth thshwy wla lagrk thyqa wthebd khdtha bytha thbny ary
When you build a new house, then you shall make a railing around your roof, so that you don’t bring blood on your house if anyone falls from there.

לא תזרע כרמך ערובין דילמא תסתאב דמעת זרעא די תזרע ועללת כרמא:
krma wellth thzre dy zrea dmeth thsthab dylma erwbyn krmk thzre la
You shall not sow your vineyard with two kinds of seed, lest all the fruit be defiled, the seed which you have sown, and the increase of the vineyard.

לא תרדי בתורא ובחמרא כחדא:
kkhda wbkhmra bthwra thrdy la
You shall not plow with an ox and a donkey together.
11
לא תלבש שעטנזא עמר וכתן מחבר כחדא:
kkhda mkhbr wkthn emr sheTnza thlbsh la
You shall not wear clothes of wool and linen woven together.
12
כרספדין תעבד לך על ארבע כנפי כסותך די תכסי בה:
bh thksy dy kswthk knpy arbe el lk thebd krspdyn
You shall make yourselves fringes on the four corners of your cloak with which you cover yourself.

ארי יסב גבר אתתא ויעול לותה ויסננה:
wysnnh lwthh wyewl aththa gbr ysb ary
If any man takes a wife, and goes in to her, hates her,

וישוי לה תסקופי מלין ויפק עלה שום ביש ויימר ית אתתא הדא נסבית ועלית לותה ולא אשכחית לה בתולין:
bthwlyn lh ashkkhyth wla lwthh welyth nsbyth hda aththa yth wyymr bysh shwm elh wypq mlyn thsqwpy lh wyshwy
accuses her of shameful things, gives her a bad name, and says, “I took this woman, and when I came near to her, I didn’t find in her the tokens of virginity;”

ויסב אבוהא דעולמתא ואמה ויפקון ית בתולי עולמתא לקדם סבי קרתא לתרע בית דין אתרא:
athra dyn byth lthre qrtha sby lqdm ewlmtha bthwly yth wypqwn wamh dewlmtha abwha wysb
then the young lady’s father and mother shall take and bring the tokens of the young lady’s virginity to the elders of the city in the gate.

ויימר אבוהא דעולמתא לסביא ית ברתי יהבית לגברא הדין לאנתו וסננה:
wsnnh lanthw hdyn lgbra yhbyth brthy yth lsbya dewlmtha abwha wyymr
The young lady’s father shall tell the elders, “I gave my daughter to this man as his wife, and he hates her.

והא הוא שוי תסקופי מלין למימר לא אשכחית לברתך בתולין ואלין בתולי ברתי ויפרסון שושיפא קדם סבי קרתא:
qrtha sby qdm shwshypa wyprswn brthy bthwly walyn bthwlyn lbrthk ashkkhyth la lmymr mlyn thsqwpy shwy hwa wha
Behold, he has accused her of shameful things, saying, ‘I didn’t find in your daughter the tokens of virginity;’ and yet these are the tokens of my daughter’s virginity.” They shall spread the cloth before the elders of the city.

וידברון סבי קרתא ההיא ית גברא וילקון יתיה:
ythyh wylqwn gbra yth hhya qrtha sby wydbrwn
The elders of that city shall take the man and chastise him.
19
ויגבון מניה מאה סלעין דכסף ויתנון לאבוהא דעולמתא ארי אפק שום ביש על בתולתא דישראל וליה תהי לאנתו לית ליה רשו למפטרה כל יומוהי:
ywmwhy kl lmpTrh rshw lyh lyth lanthw thhy wlyh dyshral bthwltha el bysh shwm apq ary dewlmtha labwha wythnwn dksp sleyn mah mnyh wygbwn
They shall fine him one hundred shekels of silver, and give them to the father of the young lady, because he has given a bad name to a virgin of Israel. She shall be his wife. He may not put her away all his days.
20
ואם קשטא הוה פתגמא הדין לא אשתכחו בתולין לעולמתא:
lewlmtha bthwlyn ashthkkhw la hdyn pthgma hwh qshTa wam
But if this thing is true, that the tokens of virginity were not found in the young lady,
21
ויפקון ית עולמתא לתרע בית אבוהא וירגמנה אנשי קרתה באבניא ותמות ארי עבדת קלנא בישראל לזנאה בית אבוהא ותפלי עבד דביש מבינך:
mbynk dbysh ebd wthply abwha byth lznah byshral qlna ebdth ary wthmwth babnya qrthh anshy wyrgmnh abwha byth lthre ewlmtha yth wypqwn
then they shall bring out the young lady to the door of her father’s house, and the men of her city shall stone her to death with stones, because she has done folly in Israel, to play the prostitute in her father’s house. So you shall remove the evil from among you.

ארי ישתכח גבר דשכב עם אתתא אתת גבר ויתקטלון אף תרויהון גברא דשכב עם אתתא ואתתא ותפלי עבד דביש מישראל:
myshral dbysh ebd wthply waththa aththa em dshkb gbra thrwyhwn ap wythqTlwn gbr athth aththa em dshkb gbr yshthkkh ary
If a man is found lying with a woman married to a husband, then they shall both die, the man who lay with the woman and the woman. So you shall remove the evil from Israel.
23
ארי תהי עולמתא בתלתא דמארסא לגבר וישכחנה גבר בקרתא וישכוב עמה:
emh wyshkwb bqrtha gbr wyshkkhnh lgbr dmarsa bthltha ewlmtha thhy ary
If there is a young lady who is a virgin pledged to be married to a husband, and a man finds her in the city, and lies with her,

ותפקון ית תרויהון לתרע קרתא ההיא ותרגמון יתהון באבניא וימותון ית עולמתא על עסק די לא צוחת בקרתא וית גברא על עסק דעני ית אתת חבריה ותפלי עבד דביש מבינך:
mbynk dbysh ebd wthply khbryh athth yth deny esq el gbra wyth bqrtha tswkhth la dy esq el ewlmtha yth wymwthwn babnya ythhwn wthrgmwn hhya qrtha lthre thrwyhwn yth wthpqwn
then you shall bring them both out to the gate of that city, and you shall stone them to death with stones; the lady, because she didn’t cry, being in the city; and the man, because he has humbled his neighbor’s wife. So you shall remove the evil from among you.
25
ואם בחקלא ישכח גבר ית עולמתא דמארסא ויתקף בה גברא וישכוב עמה ויתקטל גברא דשכב עמה בלחודוהי:
blkhwdwhy emh dshkb gbra wythqTl emh wyshkwb gbra bh wythqp dmarsa ewlmtha yth gbr yshkkh bkhqla wam
But if the man finds the lady who is pledged to be married in the field, and the man forces her and lies with her, then only the man who lay with her shall die;

ולעולמתא לא תעבד מדעם לית לעולמתא חובת דין דקטול ארי כמא דיקום גברא על חבריה ויקטלניה נפש כן פתגמא הדין:
hdyn pthgma kn npsh wyqTlnyh khbryh el gbra dyqwm kma ary dqTwl dyn khwbth lewlmtha lyth mdem thebd la wlewlmtha
but to the lady you shall do nothing. There is in the lady no sin worthy of death; for as when a man rises against his neighbor and kills him, even so is this matter;
27
ארי בחקלא אשכחה צוחת עולמתא דמארסא ולית דפריק לה:
lh dpryq wlyth dmarsa ewlmtha tswkhth ashkkhh bkhqla ary
for he found her in the field, the pledged to be married lady cried, and there was no one to save her.
28
ארי ישכח גבר עולמתא בתלתא די לא מארסא ויחדנה וישכוב עמה וישתכחון:
wyshthkkhwn emh wyshkwb wykhdnh marsa la dy bthltha ewlmtha gbr yshkkh ary
If a man finds a lady who is a virgin, who is not pledged to be married, grabs her and lies with her, and they are found,

ויתן גברא דישכב עמה לאבוהא דעולמתא חמשין סלעין דכסף וליה תהי לאנתו חלף די עניה לית ליה רשו למפטרה כל יומוהי:
ywmwhy kl lmpTrh rshw lyh lyth enyh dy khlp lanthw thhy wlyh dksp sleyn khmshyn dewlmtha labwha emh dyshkb gbra wythn
then the man who lay with her shall give to the lady’s father fifty shekels of silver. She shall be his wife, because he has humbled her. He may not put her away all his days.
