ארי ישתכח קטילא בארעא די יי אלהך יהב לך למירתה רמי בחקלא לא אתידע מן קטליה:
ary yshthkkh qTyla barea dy yy alhk yhb lk lmyrthh rmy bkhqla la athyde mn qTlyh
If someone is found slain in the land which Yahweh your God gives you to possess, lying in the field, and it isn’t known who has struck him,

ויפקון סביך ודיניך וימשחון לקרויא די סחרנות קטילא:
wypqwn sbyk wdynyk wymshkhwn lqrwya dy skhrnwth qTyla
then your elders and your judges shall come out, and they shall measure to the cities which are around him who is slain.

ותהי קרתא דקריבא לקטילא וידברון סבי קרתא ההיא עגלת תורי די לא אתפלח בה די לא נגידת בניר:
wthhy qrtha dqryba lqTyla wydbrwn sby qrtha hhya eglth thwry dy la athplkh bh dy la ngydth bnyr
It shall be that the elders of the city which is nearest to the slain man shall take a heifer of the herd, which hasn’t been worked with and which has not drawn in the yoke.

ויחתון סבי קרתא ההיא ית עגלתא לנחלא ביר די לא אתפלח ביה ולא יזדרע וינקפון תמן ית עגלתא בנחלא:
wykhthwn sby qrtha hhya yth egltha lnkhla byr dy la athplkh byh wla yzdre wynqpwn thmn yth egltha bnkhla
The elders of that city shall bring the heifer down to a valley with running water, which is neither plowed nor sown, and shall break the heifer’s neck there in the valley.

ויתקרבון כהניא בני לוי ארי בהון יתרעי יי אלהך לשמשותיה ולברכא בשמא דיי ועל מימרהון יהי כל דין וכל מכתש סגירו:
wythqrbwn khnya bny lwy ary bhwn ythrey yy alhk lshmshwthyh wlbrka bshma dyy wel mymrhwn yhy kl dyn wkl mkthsh sgyrw
The priests the sons of Levi shall come near, for them Yahweh your God has chosen to minister to him, and to bless in Yahweh’s name; and according to their word shall every controversy and every assault be decided.

וכל סבי קרתא ההיא דקריבין לקטילא יסחון ית ידיהון על עגלתא דנקפתא בנחלא:
wkl sby qrtha hhya dqrybyn lqTyla yskhwn yth ydyhwn el egltha dnqptha bnkhla
All the elders of that city which is nearest to the slain man shall wash their hands over the heifer whose neck was broken in the valley.

ויתיבון ויימרון ידנא לא אשדו ית דמא הדין ועיננא לא חזאה:
wythybwn wyymrwn ydna la ashdw yth dma hdyn weynna la khzah
They shall answer and say, “Our hands have not shed this blood, neither have our eyes seen it.
8
כהניא יימרון כפר לעמך ישראל די פרקתא יי ולא תתן חובת דם זכי בגו עמך ישראל ויתכפר להון על דמא:
khnya yymrwn kpr lemk yshral dy prqtha yy wla ththn khwbth dm zky bgw emk yshral wythkpr lhwn el dma
Forgive, Yahweh, your people Israel, whom you have redeemed, and don’t allow innocent blood among your people Israel.” The blood shall be forgiven them.

ואת תפלי אשדי דם זכי מבינך ארי תעבד דכשר קדם יי:
wath thply ashdy dm zky mbynk ary thebd dkshr qdm yy
So you shall put away the innocent blood from among you, when you shall do that which is right in Yahweh’s eyes.

ארי תפוק לאגחא קרבא על בעלי דבבך וימסרנון יי אלהך בידך ותשבי שביהון:
ary thpwq lagkha qrba el bely dbbk wymsrnwn yy alhk bydk wthshby shbyhwn
When you go out to battle against your enemies, and Yahweh your God delivers them into your hands and you carry them away captive,

ותחזי בשביה אתתא שפירת חזו ותתרעי בה ותסבה לך לאנתו:
wthkhzy bshbyh aththa shpyrth khzw wththrey bh wthsbh lk lanthw
and see among the captives a beautiful woman, and you are attracted to her, and desire to take her as your wife,
12
ותעלנה לגו ביתך ותגלח ית רישה ותרבי ית טופרנהא:
wthelnh lgw bythk wthglkh yth ryshh wthrby yth Twprnha
then you shall bring her home to your house. She shall shave her head and trim her nails.
13
ותעדי ית כסות שביה מנה ותיתב בביתך ותבכי ית אבוהא וית אמה ירח יומין ובתר כן תעול לותה ותבעלנה ותהי לך לאנתו:
wthedy yth kswth shbyh mnh wthythb bbythk wthbky yth abwha wyth amh yrkh ywmyn wbthr kn thewl lwthh wthbelnh wthhy lk lanthw
She shall take off the clothing of her captivity, and shall remain in your house, and bewail her father and her mother a full month. After that you shall go in to her and be her husband, and she shall be your wife.

ויהי אם לא תתרעי בה ותפטרנה לנפשה וזבנא לא תזבננה בכספא לא תתגר בה חלף די עניתה:
wyhy am la ththrey bh wthpTrnh lnpshh wzbna la thzbnnh bkspa la ththgr bh khlp dy enythh
It shall be, if you have no delight in her, then you shall let her go where she desires; but you shall not sell her at all for money. You shall not deal with her as a slave, because you have humbled her.

ארי תהוין לגבר תרתין נשין חדא רחמתא וחדא שניאתא וילידן ליה בנין רחמתא ושניאתא ויהי ברא בוכרא לשניאתא:
ary thhwyn lgbr thrthyn nshyn khda rkhmtha wkhda shnyatha wylydn lyh bnyn rkhmtha wshnyatha wyhy bra bwkra lshnyatha
If a man has two wives, the one beloved and the other hated, and they have borne him children, both the beloved and the hated, and if the firstborn son is hers who was hated,

ויהי ביומא דיחסן לבנוהי ית די יהי ליה לית ליה רשו לבכרא ית בר רחמתא על אפי בר שניאתא בוכרא:
wyhy bywma dykhsn lbnwhy yth dy yhy lyh lyth lyh rshw lbkra yth br rkhmtha el apy br shnyatha bwkra
then it shall be, in the day that he causes his sons to inherit that which he has, that he may not give the son of the beloved the rights of the firstborn before the son of the hated, who is the firstborn;

ארי ית בוכרא בר שניאתא יפרש למתן ליה תרתין חלקין בכל די ישתכח ליה ארי הוא ריש תקפיה ליה חזיא בכרותא:
ary yth bwkra br shnyatha yprsh lmthn lyh thrthyn khlqyn bkl dy yshthkkh lyh ary hwa rysh thqpyh lyh khzya bkrwtha
but he shall acknowledge the firstborn, the son of the hated, by giving him a double portion of all that he has; for he is the beginning of his strength. The right of the firstborn is his.

ארי יהי לגבר בר סטי ומרי ליתוהי מקבל למימר אבוהי ולמימר אמיה ומלפן יתיה ולא יקבל מנהון:
ary yhy lgbr br sTy wmry lythwhy mqbl lmymr abwhy wlmymr amyh wmlpn ythyh wla yqbl mnhwn
If a man has a stubborn and rebellious son who will not obey the voice of his father or the voice of his mother, and though they chasten him, will not listen to them,

ויחדון ביה אבוהי ואמיה ויפקון יתיה לקדם סבי קרתיה ולתרע בית דין אתריה:
wykhdwn byh abwhy wamyh wypqwn ythyh lqdm sby qrthyh wlthre byth dyn athryh
then his father and his mother shall take hold of him and bring him out to the elders of his city and to the gate of his place.

ויימרון לסבי קרתיה בננא דין סטי ומרי ליתוהי מקבל למימרנא זלל בסר וסבי חמר:
wyymrwn lsby qrthyh bnna dyn sTy wmry lythwhy mqbl lmymrna zll bsr wsby khmr
They shall tell the elders of his city, “This our son is stubborn and rebellious. He will not obey our voice. He is a glutton and a drunkard.”

וירגמניה כל גברי קרתיה באבניא וימות ותפלי עבד דביש מבינך וכל ישראל ישמעון וידחלון:
wyrgmnyh kl gbry qrthyh babnya wymwth wthply ebd dbysh mbynk wkl yshral yshmewn wydkhlwn
All the men of his city shall stone him to death with stones. So you shall remove the evil from among you. All Israel shall hear, and fear.

וארי יהי בגבר חובת דין דקטול ויתקטל ותצלוב יתיה על צליבא:
wary yhy bgbr khwbth dyn dqTwl wythqTl wthtslwb ythyh el tslyba
If a man has committed a sin worthy of death, and he is put to death, and you hang him on a tree,
23
לא תבית נבלתיה על צליבא ארי מקבר תקברניה ביומא ההוא ארי על דחב קדם יי אצטלב ולא תסאב ית ארעך די יי אלהך יהב לך אחסנא:
la thbyth nblthyh el tslyba ary mqbr thqbrnyh bywma hhwa ary el dkhb qdm yy atsTlb wla thsab yth arek dy yy alhk yhb lk akhsna
his body shall not remain all night on the tree, but you shall surely bury him the same day; for he who is hanged is accursed of God. Don’t defile your land which Yahweh your God gives you for an inheritance.
