מסוף שבע שנין תעבד שמטתא:
mswp shbe shnyn thebd shmTtha
At the end of every seven years, you shall cancel debts.

ודין פתגם שמטתא דתשמט כל גבר מרי רשו די ירשי בחבריה לא יתבע מן חבריה ומן אחוהי ארי קרא שמטתא קדם יי:
wdyn pthgm shmTtha dthshmT kl gbr mry rshw dy yrshy bkhbryh la ythbe mn khbryh wmn akhwhy ary qra shmTtha qdm yy
This is the way it shall be done: every creditor shall release that which he has lent to his neighbor. He shall not require payment from his neighbor and his brother, because Yahweh’s release has been proclaimed.

מן בר עממין תתבע ודי יהי לך עם אחוך תשמט ידך:
mn br emmyn ththbe wdy yhy lk em akhwk thshmT ydk
Of a foreigner you may require it; but whatever of yours is with your brother, your hand shall release.

לחוד ארי לא יהי בך מסכנא ארי ברכא יברכנך יי בארעא די יי אלהך יהב לך אחסנא למירתה:
lkhwd ary la yhy bk mskna ary brka ybrknk yy barea dy yy alhk yhb lk akhsna lmyrthh
However there will be no poor with you (for Yahweh will surely bless you in the land which Yahweh your God gives you for an inheritance to possess)

לחוד אם קבלא תקבל למימרא דיי אלהך למטר למעבד ית כל תפקדתא הדא די אנא מפקדך יומא דין:
lkhwd am qbla thqbl lmymra dyy alhk lmTr lmebd yth kl thpqdtha hda dy ana mpqdk ywma dyn
if only you diligently listen to Yahweh your God’s voice, to observe to do all this commandment which I command you today.

ארי יי אלהך ברכך כמא די מליל לך ותוזף לעממין סגיאין ואת לא תזוף ותשלוט בעממין סגיאין ובך לא ישלטון:
ary yy alhk brkk kma dy mlyl lk wthwzp lemmyn sgyayn wath la thzwp wthshlwT bemmyn sgyayn wbk la yshlTwn
For Yahweh your God will bless you, as he promised you. You will lend to many nations, but you will not borrow. You will rule over many nations, but they will not rule over you.

ארי יהי בך מסכנא חד מאחיך בחדא מקרויך בארעך דיי אלהך יהב לך לא תתקף ית לבך ולא תקפץ ית ידך מאחוך מסכנא:
ary yhy bk mskna khd makhyk bkhda mqrwyk barek dyy alhk yhb lk la ththqp yth lbk wla thqpts yth ydk makhwk mskna
If a poor man, one of your brothers, is with you within any of your gates in your land which Yahweh your God gives you, you shall not harden your heart, nor shut your hand from your poor brother;

אלא מפתח תפתח ית ידך ליה ואוזפא תוזפניה כמסת חסרוניה דיחסיר ליה:
ala mpthkh thpthkh yth ydk lyh wawzpa thwzpnyh kmsth khsrwnyh dykhsyr lyh
but you shall surely open your hand to him, and shall surely lend him sufficient for his need, which he lacks.

אסתמר לך דילמא יהי פתגם עם לבך ברשע למימר קריבא שתא שביעתא שתא דשמטתא ותבאש עינך באחוך מסכנא ולא תתן ליה ויקרי עלך קדם יי ויהי בך חובא:
asthmr lk dylma yhy pthgm em lbk brshe lmymr qryba shtha shbyetha shtha dshmTtha wthbash eynk bakhwk mskna wla ththn lyh wyqry elk qdm yy wyhy bk khwba
Beware that there not be a wicked thought in your heart, saying, “The seventh year, the year of release, is at hand,” and your eye be evil against your poor brother and you give him nothing; and he cry to Yahweh against you, and it be sin to you.

מתן תתן ליה ולא יבאש לבך במתנך ליה ארי בדיל פתגמא הדין יברכנך יי אלהך בכל עובדך ובכל אושטות ידך:
mthn ththn lyh wla ybash lbk bmthnk lyh ary bdyl pthgma hdyn ybrknk yy alhk bkl ewbdk wbkl awshTwth ydk
You shall surely give, and your heart shall not be grieved when you give to him, because it is for this thing Yahweh your God will bless you in all your work and in all that you put your hand to.

ארי לא יפסוק מסכנא מגו ארעא על כן אנא מפקדך למימר מפתח תפתח ית ידך לאחוך לעניך ולמסכנך בארעך:
ary la ypswq mskna mgw area el kn ana mpqdk lmymr mpthkh thpthkh yth ydk lakhwk lenyk wlmsknk barek
For the poor will never cease out of the land. Therefore I command you to surely open your hand to your brother, to your needy, and to your poor, in your land.

ארי יזדבן לך אחוך בר ישראל או בת ישראל ויפלחנך שית שנין ובשתא שביעתא תפטרניה בר חורין מעמך:
ary yzdbn lk akhwk br yshral aw bth yshral wyplkhnk shyth shnyn wbshtha shbyetha thpTrnyh br khwryn memk
If your brother, a Hebrew man, or a Hebrew woman, is sold to you and serves you six years, then in the seventh year you shall let him go free from you.

וארי תפטרניה בר חורין מעמך לא תפטרניה ריקן:
wary thpTrnyh br khwryn memk la thpTrnyh ryqn
When you let him go free from you, you shall not let him go empty.
14
אפרשא תפרש ליה מענך ומאדרך וממעצרתך די ברכך יי אלהך תתן ליה:
aprsha thprsh lyh menk wmadrk wmmetsrthk dy brkk yy alhk ththn lyh
You shall furnish him liberally out of your flock, out of your threshing floor, and out of your wine press. As Yahweh your God has blessed you, you shall give to him.

ותדכר ארי עבדא הויתא בארעא דמצרים ופרקך יי אלהך על כן אנא מפקדך ית פתגמא הדין יומא דין:
wthdkr ary ebda hwytha barea dmtsrym wprqk yy alhk el kn ana mpqdk yth pthgma hdyn ywma dyn
You shall remember that you were a slave in the land of Egypt, and Yahweh your God redeemed you. Therefore I command you this thing today.

ויהי ארי יימר לך לא אפוק מעמך ארי רחמך וית אנש ביתך ארי טב ליה עמך:
wyhy ary yymr lk la apwq memk ary rkhmk wyth ansh bythk ary Tb lyh emk
It shall be, if he tells you, “I will not go out from you,” because he loves you and your house, because he is well with you,

ותסב ית מרצעא ותתן באדניה ובדשא ויהי לך עבד פלח לעלם ואף לאמתך תעבד כן:
wthsb yth mrtsea wththn badnyh wbdsha wyhy lk ebd plkh lelm wap lamthk thebd kn
then you shall take an awl, and thrust it through his ear to the door, and he shall be your servant forever. Also to your female servant you shall do likewise.

לא יקשי בעינך במפטרך יתיה בר חורין מעמך ארי על חד תרין כאגר אגירא פלחך שית שנין ויברכנך יי אלהך בכל די תעבד:
la yqshy beynk bmpTrk ythyh br khwryn memk ary el khd thryn kagr agyra plkhk shyth shnyn wybrknk yy alhk bkl dy thebd
It shall not seem hard to you when you let him go free from you, for he has been double the value of a hired hand as he served you six years. Yahweh your God will bless you in all that you do.

כל בוכרא די יתיליד בתורך ובענך דכרין תקדש קדם יי אלהך לא תפלח בבוכרא דתורך ולא תגוז בוכרא דענך
kl bwkra dy ythylyd bthwrk wbenk dkryn thqdsh qdm yy alhk la thplkh bbwkra dthwrk wla thgwz bwkra denk
You shall dedicate all the firstborn males that are born of your herd and of your flock to Yahweh your God. You shall do no work with the firstborn of your herd, nor shear the firstborn of your flock.

קדם יי אלהך תיכלניה שתא בשתא באתרא די יתרעי יי את ואנש ביתך:
qdm yy alhk thyklnyh shtha bshtha bathra dy ythrey yy ath wansh bythk
You shall eat it before Yahweh your God year by year in the place which Yahweh shall choose, you and your household.

וארי יהי ביה מומא חגיר או עויר כל מום ביש לא תכסניה קדם יי אלהך:
wary yhy byh mwma khgyr aw ewyr kl mwm bysh la thksnyh qdm yy alhk
If it has any defect—is lame or blind, or has any defect whatever, you shall not sacrifice it to Yahweh your God.

בקרויך תיכלניה מסאבא ודכיא כחדא כבסר טביא ואילא:
bqrwyk thyklnyh msaba wdkya kkhda kbsr Tbya wayla
You shall eat it within your gates. The unclean and the clean shall eat it alike, as the gazelle and as the deer.
23
לחוד ית דמיה לא תיכול על ארעא תשדניה כמיא:
lkhwd yth dmyh la thykwl el area thshdnyh kmya
Only you shall not eat its blood. You shall pour it out on the ground like water.
