1
מסוף שבע שנין תעבד שמטתא:
shmTtha thebd shnyn shbe mswp
At the end of every seven years, you shall cancel debts.

ודין פתגם שמטתא דתשמט כל גבר מרי רשו די ירשי בחבריה לא יתבע מן חבריה ומן אחוהי ארי קרא שמטתא קדם יי:
yy qdm shmTtha qra ary akhwhy wmn khbryh mn ythbe la bkhbryh yrshy dy rshw mry gbr kl dthshmT shmTtha pthgm wdyn
This is the way it shall be done: every creditor shall release that which he has lent to his neighbor. He shall not require payment from his neighbor and his brother, because Yahweh’s release has been proclaimed.

מן בר עממין תתבע ודי יהי לך עם אחוך תשמט ידך:
ydk thshmT akhwk em lk yhy wdy ththbe emmyn br mn
Of a foreigner you may require it; but whatever of yours is with your brother, your hand shall release.

לחוד ארי לא יהי בך מסכנא ארי ברכא יברכנך יי בארעא די יי אלהך יהב לך אחסנא למירתה:
lmyrthh akhsna lk yhb alhk yy dy barea yy ybrknk brka ary mskna bk yhy la ary lkhwd
However there will be no poor with you (for Yahweh will surely bless you in the land which Yahweh your God gives you for an inheritance to possess)

לחוד אם קבלא תקבל למימרא דיי אלהך למטר למעבד ית כל תפקדתא הדא די אנא מפקדך יומא דין:
dyn ywma mpqdk ana dy hda thpqdtha kl yth lmebd lmTr alhk dyy lmymra thqbl qbla am lkhwd
if only you diligently listen to Yahweh your God’s voice, to observe to do all this commandment which I command you today.

ארי יי אלהך ברכך כמא די מליל לך ותוזף לעממין סגיאין ואת לא תזוף ותשלוט בעממין סגיאין ובך לא ישלטון:
yshlTwn la wbk sgyayn bemmyn wthshlwT thzwp la wath sgyayn lemmyn wthwzp lk mlyl dy kma brkk alhk yy ary
For Yahweh your God will bless you, as he promised you. You will lend to many nations, but you will not borrow. You will rule over many nations, but they will not rule over you.

ארי יהי בך מסכנא חד מאחיך בחדא מקרויך בארעך דיי אלהך יהב לך לא תתקף ית לבך ולא תקפץ ית ידך מאחוך מסכנא:
mskna makhwk ydk yth thqpts wla lbk yth ththqp la lk yhb alhk dyy barek mqrwyk bkhda makhyk khd mskna bk yhy ary
If a poor man, one of your brothers, is with you within any of your gates in your land which Yahweh your God gives you, you shall not harden your heart, nor shut your hand from your poor brother;

אלא מפתח תפתח ית ידך ליה ואוזפא תוזפניה כמסת חסרוניה דיחסיר ליה:
lyh dykhsyr khsrwnyh kmsth thwzpnyh wawzpa lyh ydk yth thpthkh mpthkh ala
but you shall surely open your hand to him, and shall surely lend him sufficient for his need, which he lacks.

אסתמר לך דילמא יהי פתגם עם לבך ברשע למימר קריבא שתא שביעתא שתא דשמטתא ותבאש עינך באחוך מסכנא ולא תתן ליה ויקרי עלך קדם יי ויהי בך חובא:
khwba bk wyhy yy qdm elk wyqry lyh ththn wla mskna bakhwk eynk wthbash dshmTtha shtha shbyetha shtha qryba lmymr brshe lbk em pthgm yhy dylma lk asthmr
Beware that there not be a wicked thought in your heart, saying, “The seventh year, the year of release, is at hand,” and your eye be evil against your poor brother and you give him nothing; and he cry to Yahweh against you, and it be sin to you.

מתן תתן ליה ולא יבאש לבך במתנך ליה ארי בדיל פתגמא הדין יברכנך יי אלהך בכל עובדך ובכל אושטות ידך:
ydk awshTwth wbkl ewbdk bkl alhk yy ybrknk hdyn pthgma bdyl ary lyh bmthnk lbk ybash wla lyh ththn mthn
You shall surely give, and your heart shall not be grieved when you give to him, because it is for this thing Yahweh your God will bless you in all your work and in all that you put your hand to.

ארי לא יפסוק מסכנא מגו ארעא על כן אנא מפקדך למימר מפתח תפתח ית ידך לאחוך לעניך ולמסכנך בארעך:
barek wlmsknk lenyk lakhwk ydk yth thpthkh mpthkh lmymr mpqdk ana kn el area mgw mskna ypswq la ary
For the poor will never cease out of the land. Therefore I command you to surely open your hand to your brother, to your needy, and to your poor, in your land.

ארי יזדבן לך אחוך בר ישראל או בת ישראל ויפלחנך שית שנין ובשתא שביעתא תפטרניה בר חורין מעמך:
memk khwryn br thpTrnyh shbyetha wbshtha shnyn shyth wyplkhnk yshral bth aw yshral br akhwk lk yzdbn ary
If your brother, a Hebrew man, or a Hebrew woman, is sold to you and serves you six years, then in the seventh year you shall let him go free from you.

וארי תפטרניה בר חורין מעמך לא תפטרניה ריקן:
ryqn thpTrnyh la memk khwryn br thpTrnyh wary
When you let him go free from you, you shall not let him go empty.
14
אפרשא תפרש ליה מענך ומאדרך וממעצרתך די ברכך יי אלהך תתן ליה:
lyh ththn alhk yy brkk dy wmmetsrthk wmadrk menk lyh thprsh aprsha
You shall furnish him liberally out of your flock, out of your threshing floor, and out of your wine press. As Yahweh your God has blessed you, you shall give to him.
15
ותדכר ארי עבדא הויתא בארעא דמצרים ופרקך יי אלהך על כן אנא מפקדך ית פתגמא הדין יומא דין:
dyn ywma hdyn pthgma yth mpqdk ana kn el alhk yy wprqk dmtsrym barea hwytha ebda ary wthdkr
You shall remember that you were a slave in the land of Egypt, and Yahweh your God redeemed you. Therefore I command you this thing today.

ויהי ארי יימר לך לא אפוק מעמך ארי רחמך וית אנש ביתך ארי טב ליה עמך:
emk lyh Tb ary bythk ansh wyth rkhmk ary memk apwq la lk yymr ary wyhy
It shall be, if he tells you, “I will not go out from you,” because he loves you and your house, because he is well with you,

ותסב ית מרצעא ותתן באדניה ובדשא ויהי לך עבד פלח לעלם ואף לאמתך תעבד כן:
kn thebd lamthk wap lelm plkh ebd lk wyhy wbdsha badnyh wththn mrtsea yth wthsb
then you shall take an awl, and thrust it through his ear to the door, and he shall be your servant forever. Also to your female servant you shall do likewise.

לא יקשי בעינך במפטרך יתיה בר חורין מעמך ארי על חד תרין כאגר אגירא פלחך שית שנין ויברכנך יי אלהך בכל די תעבד:
thebd dy bkl alhk yy wybrknk shnyn shyth plkhk agyra kagr thryn khd el ary memk khwryn br ythyh bmpTrk beynk yqshy la
It shall not seem hard to you when you let him go free from you, for he has been double the value of a hired hand as he served you six years. Yahweh your God will bless you in all that you do.
19
כל בוכרא די יתיליד בתורך ובענך דכרין תקדש קדם יי אלהך לא תפלח בבוכרא דתורך ולא תגוז בוכרא דענך
denk bwkra thgwz wla dthwrk bbwkra thplkh la alhk yy qdm thqdsh dkryn wbenk bthwrk ythylyd dy bwkra kl
You shall dedicate all the firstborn males that are born of your herd and of your flock to Yahweh your God. You shall do no work with the firstborn of your herd, nor shear the firstborn of your flock.
20
קדם יי אלהך תיכלניה שתא בשתא באתרא די יתרעי יי את ואנש ביתך:
bythk wansh ath yy ythrey dy bathra bshtha shtha thyklnyh alhk yy qdm
You shall eat it before Yahweh your God year by year in the place which Yahweh shall choose, you and your household.
21
וארי יהי ביה מומא חגיר או עויר כל מום ביש לא תכסניה קדם יי אלהך:
alhk yy qdm thksnyh la bysh mwm kl ewyr aw khgyr mwma byh yhy wary
If it has any defect—is lame or blind, or has any defect whatever, you shall not sacrifice it to Yahweh your God.
22
בקרויך תיכלניה מסאבא ודכיא כחדא כבסר טביא ואילא:
wayla Tbya kbsr kkhda wdkya msaba thyklnyh bqrwyk
You shall eat it within your gates. The unclean and the clean shall eat it alike, as the gazelle and as the deer.
