ܗܟܢܐ ܚܘܝܢܝ ܡܪܐ ܡܪ̈ܘܬܐ ܒܪܝܬܐ ܕܩܡܨܐ ܒܪܝܫ ܡܘܥܝܬܐ ܕܠܩܫܐ ܘܗܘ ܠܩܫܐ ܒܬܪ ܓܙܐ ܗܘܐ ܕܡܠܟܐ
dmlk' hw' gz' bthr lqsh' whw dlqsh' mweyth' brysh dqmts' bryth' mrwth' mr' khwyny hkn'
Thus the Lord Yahweh showed me: behold, he formed locusts in the beginning of the shooting up of the latter growth; and behold, it was the latter growth after the king’s harvest.

ܘܟܕ ܓܡܪ ܠܡܐܟܠܗ ܠܥܣܒܐ ܕܐܪܥܐ ܐܡܪܬ ܡܪܐ ܡܪ̈ܘܬܐ ܚܣܢܝ ܡܢܘ ܢܩܝܡܝܘܗܝ ܠܝܥܩܘܒ ܡܛܠ ܕܙܥܘܪ ܗܘ
hw dzewr mTl lyeqwb nqymywhy mnw khsny mrwth' mr' 'mrth d're' lesb' lm'klh gmr wkd
When they finished eating the grass of the land, then I said, “Lord Yahweh, forgive, I beg you! How could Jacob stand? For he is small.”

ܐܗܦܟܝܗ̇ ܡܪܝܐ ܠܗܕܐ ܘܠܐ ܬܗܘܐ

Yahweh relented concerning this. “It shall not be,” says Yahweh.

ܗܟܢܐ ܚܘܝܢܝ ܡܪܐ ܡܪ̈ܘܬܐ ܘܗܐ ܩܪܐ ܠܡܕܢ ܒܢܘܪܐ ܡܪܐ ܡܪ̈ܘܬܐ ܘܐܟܠܬ ܠܬܗܘܡܐ ܪܒܐ ܘܐܟܠܬ ܠܦܠܓܘܬܐ
lplgwth' w'klth rb' lthhwm' w'klth mrwth' mr' bnwr' lmdn qr' wh' mrwth' mr' khwyny hkn'
Thus the Lord Yahweh showed me: behold, the Lord Yahweh called for judgment by fire; and it dried up the great deep, and would have devoured the land.

ܘܐܡܪܬ ܡܪܐ ܡܪ̈ܘܬܐ ܚܣܢܝ ܡܢܘ ܢܩܝܡܝܘܗܝ ܠܝܥܩܘܒ ܡܛܠ ܕܙܥܘܪ ܗܘ

Then I said, “Lord Yahweh, stop, I beg you! How could Jacob stand? For he is small.”

ܐܗܦܟܝܗ̇ ܡܪܝܐ ܠܗܕܐ ܘܐܦ ܗܝ ܠܐ ܬܗܘܐ
thhw' l' hy w'p lhd' mry' 'hpkyh
Yahweh relented concerning this. “This also shall not be,” says the Lord Yahweh.

ܗܟܢܐ ܚܘܝܢܝ ܘܗܐ ܡܪܝܐ ܩܐܡ ܥܠ ܫܘܪܐ ܕܐܕܡܘܣ ܘܒܐܝܕܗ ܐܕܡܘܣ
'dmws wb'ydh d'dmws shwr' el q'm mry' wh' khwyny hkn'
Thus he showed me: behold, the Lord stood beside a wall made by a plumb line, with a plumb line in his hand.

ܘܐܡܪ ܠܝ ܡܪܝܐ ܡܢܐ ܚܙܝܬ ܥܡܘܣ ܘܐܡܪܬ ܐܕܡܘܣ ܘܐܡܪ ܠܝ ܡܪܝܐ ܗܐ ܐܢܐ ܣܐܡ ܐܢܐ ܐܕܡܘܣ ܒܓܘ ܥܡܝ ܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܘܠܐ ܐܘܣܦ ܬܘܒ ܕܐܥܒܪ ܐܢܘܢ
'nwn d'ebr thwb 'wsp wl' 'ysryl emy bgw 'dmws 'n' s'm 'n' h' mry' ly w'mr 'dmws w'mrth emws khzyth mn' mry' ly w'mr
Yahweh said to me, “Amos, what do you see?” I said, “A plumb line.” Then the Lord said, “Behold, I will set a plumb line in the middle of my people Israel. I will not again pass by them any more.

ܘܢܚܪ̈ܒܢ ܦܪ̈ܟܐ ܕܓܘܚܟܐ ܘܡܩ̈ܕܫܐ ܕܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܢܚܪܒܘܢ ܘܐܩܘܡ ܥܠ ܒܝܬ ܝܘܪܒܥܡ ܒܚܪܒܐ
bkhrb' ywrbem byth el w'qwm nkhrbwn d'ysryl wmqdsh' dgwkhk' prk' wnkhrbn
The high places of Isaac will be desolate, the sanctuaries of Israel will be laid waste; and I will rise against the house of Jeroboam with the sword.”

ܘܫܠܚ ܐܡܘܨܝܐ ܟܘܡܪܐ ܕܒܝܬ ܐܝܠ ܠܘܬ ܝܘܪܒܥܡ ܡܠܟܐ ܕܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܡܪܕ ܥܠܝܟ ܥܡܘܣ ܒܓܘ ܒܝܬ ܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܘܠܐ ܡܫܟܚܐ ܐܪܥܐ ܠܡܣܝܒܪܘ ܡ̈ܠܘܗܝ
mlwhy lmsybrw 're' mshkkh' wl' 'ysryl byth bgw emws elyk mrd lh w'mr d'ysryl mlk' ywrbem lwth 'yl dbyth kwmr' 'mwtsy' wshlkh
Then Amaziah the priest of Bethel sent to Jeroboam king of Israel, saying, “Amos has conspired against you in the middle of the house of Israel. The land is not able to bear all his words.

ܡܛܠ ܕܗܟܢܐ ܐܡܪ ܥܡܘܣ ܕܒܚܪܒܐ ܢܬܩܛܠ ܝܘܪܒܥܡ ܘܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܒܫܒܝܐ ܢܫܬܒܐ ܡܢ ܐܪܥܗ
'reh mn nshthb' bshby' w'ysryl ywrbem nthqTl dbkhrb' emws 'mr dhkn' mTl
For Amos says, ‘Jeroboam will die by the sword, and Israel shall surely be led away captive out of his land.’”

ܘܐܡܪ ܐܡܘܨܝܐ ܠܥܡܘܣ ܚܙܝܐ ܥܪܘܩ ܙܠ ܠܟ ܠܐܪܥܐ ܕܝܗܘܕܐ ܘܐܟܘܠ ܬܡܢ ܠܚܡܐ ܘܬܡܢ ܬܬܢܒܐ
ththnb' wthmn lkhm' thmn w'kwl dyhwd' l're' lk zl erwq khzy' lemws 'mwtsy' w'mr
Amaziah also said to Amos, “You seer, go, flee away into the land of Judah, and there eat bread, and prophesy there,

ܘܒܝܬ ܐܝܠ ܠܐ ܬܘܣܦ ܬܘܒ ܠܡܬܢܒܝܘ ܡܛܠ ܕܡܩܕܫܐ ܗܘ ܕܡܠܟܐ ܘܒܝܬ ܡܠܟܘܬܐ ܗܘ
hw mlkwth' wbyth dmlk' hw dmqdsh' mTl lmthnbyw thwb thwsp l' 'yl wbyth
but don’t prophesy again any more at Bethel; for it is the king’s sanctuary, and it is a royal house!”

ܘܥܢܐ ܥܡܘܣ ܘܐܡܪ ܠܐܡܘܨܝܐ ܐܢܐ ܠܐ ܗܘܝܬ ܢܒܝܐ ܐܦ ܠܐ ܒܪ ܢܒ̈ܝܐ ܐܠܐ ܪܥܝܐ ܐܢܐ ܘܠܩܛ ܫܩ̈ܡܐ

Then Amos answered Amaziah, “I was no prophet, neither was I a prophet’s son, but I was a herdsman, and a farmer of sycamore figs;

ܘܕܒܪܢܝ ܡܪܝܐ ܡܢ ܒܣܬܪ ܥܢܐ ܘܐܡܪ ܠܝ ܡܪܝܐ ܙܠ ܐܬܢܒܐ ܥܠ ܥܡܝ ܐܝܣܪܝܠ
'ysryl emy el 'thnb' zl mry' ly w'mr en' bsthr mn mry' wdbrny
and Yahweh took me from following the flock, and Yahweh said to me, ‘Go, prophesy to my people Israel.’

ܡܟܝܠ ܫܡܥ ܡܠܬܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܐܢܬ ܐܡܪܬ ܕܠܐ ܬܬܢܒܐ ܥܠ ܕܒܝܬ ܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܘܠܐ ܬܠܦ ܠܕܒܝܬ ܐܝܣܚܩ
'yskhq ldbyth thlp wl' 'ysryl dbyth el ththnb' dl' 'mrth 'nth dmry' mlthh shme mkyl
Now therefore listen to Yahweh’s word: ‘You say, Don’t prophesy against Israel, and don’t preach against the house of Isaac.’

ܡܛܠ ܗܢܐ ܗܟܢܐ ܐܡܪ ܡܪܝܐ ܐܢܬܬܟ ܒܡܕܝܢܬܟ ܬܙܢܐ ܘܒܢܝ̈ܟ ܘܒܢ̈ܬܟ ܒܚܪܒܐ ܢܦܠܘܢ ܘܐܪܥܟ ܒܫܘܝܬܐ ܬܬܦܠܓ ܘܐܢܬ ܒܐܪܥܐ ܛܡܐܬܐ ܬܡܘܬ ܘܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܒܫܒܝܐ ܢܫܬܒܐ ܡܢ ܐܪܥܗ

Therefore Yahweh says: ‘Your wife shall be a prostitute in the city, and your sons and your daughters shall fall by the sword, and your land shall be divided by line; and you yourself shall die in a land that is unclean, and Israel shall surely be led away captive out of his land.’”
