Now when the day of Pentecost had come, they were all with one accord in one place.

ܗܘܐ ܡܢ ܫܠܝܐ ܡܢ ܫܡܝܐ ܩܠܐ ܐܝܟ ܪܘܚܐ ܥܙܝܙܬܐ ܘܐܬܡܠܝ ܗܘܐ ܡܢܗ ܟܠܗ ܒܝܬܐ ܗܘ ܕܒܗ ܝܬܒܝܢ ܗܘܘ

Suddenly there came from the sky a sound like the rushing of a mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.

ܘܐܬܚܙܝܘ ܠܗܘܢ ܠܫܢܐ ܕܡܬܦܠܓܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܐܝܟ ܢܘܪܐ ܘܝܬܒܘ ܥܠ ܚܕ ܚܕ ܡܢܗܘܢ

Tongues like fire appeared and were distributed to them, and one sat on each of them.

ܘܐܬܡܠܝܘ ܟܠܗܘܢ ܒܪܘܚܐ ܕܩܘܕܫܐ ܘܐܩܦܘ ܗܘܘ ܠܡܡܠܠܘ ܒܠܫܢ ܠܫܢ ܐܝܟ ܡܐ ܕܪܘܚܐ ܝܗܒ ܗܘܐ ܠܗܘܢ ܠܡܡܠܠܘ
lmmllw lhwn hw' yhb drwkh' m' 'yk lshn blshn lmmllw hww w'qpw dqwdsh' brwkh' klhwn w'thmlyw
They were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and began to speak with other languages, as the Spirit gave them the ability to speak.

Now there were dwelling in Jerusalem Jews, devout men, from every nation under the sky.

ܘܟܕ ܗܘܐ ܩܠܐ ܗܘ ܟܢܫ ܟܠܗ ܥܡܐ ܘܐܫܬܓܫ ܡܛܠ ܕܫܡܥ ܗܘܐ ܐܢܫ ܐܢܫ ܡܢܗܘܢ ܕܡܡܠܠܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܒܠܫܢܝܗܘܢ

When this sound was heard, the multitude came together, and were bewildered, because everyone heard them speaking in his own language.

They were all amazed and marveled, saying to one another, “Behold, aren’t all these who speak Galileans?

ܘܕܡܢ ܩܪܛܐ ܘܥܪܒܝܐ ܗܐ ܫܡܥܝܢ ܚܢܢ ܡܢܗܘܢ ܕܡܡܠܠܝܢ ܒܠܫܢܝܢ ܕܝܠܢ ܬܕܡܪܬܗ ܕܐܠܗܐ

Cretans and Arabians: we hear them speaking in our languages the mighty works of God!”

ܡܬܕܡܪܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܕܝܢ ܟܠܗܘܢ ܘܬܘܝܪܝܢ ܟܕ ܐܡܪܝܢ ܚܕ ܠܚܕ ܕܡܢܐ ܗܝ ܗܕܐ ܨܒܘܬܐ

They were all amazed, and were perplexed, saying to one another, “What does this mean?”

ܐܚܪܢܐ ܕܝܢ ܡܡܝܩܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܒܗܘܢ ܟܕ ܐܡܪܝܢ ܗܠܝܢ ܡܐܪܝܬܐ ܐܫܬܝܘ ܘܪܘܝܘ

Others, mocking, said, “They are filled with new wine.”

ܒܬܪܟܢ ܩܡ ܫܡܥܘܢ ܟܐܦܐ ܥܡ ܚܕܥܣܪ ܫܠܝܚܝܢ ܘܐܪܝܡ ܩܠܗ ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܓܒܪܐ ܝܗܘܕܝܐ ܘܟܠܗܘܢ ܕܥܡܪܝܢ ܒܐܘܪܫܠܡ ܗܕܐ ܬܬܝܕܥ ܠܟܘܢ ܘܨܘܬܘ ܡܠܝ

But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and spoke out to them, “You men of Judea, and all you who dwell at Jerusalem, let this be known to you, and listen to my words.

sheyn 'nyn thlth lhsh' edm' dh' rwyn hlyn sbryn d'nthwn 'ykn' gyr l'
For these aren’t drunken, as you suppose, seeing it is only the third hour of the day.

ܐܠܐ ܗܕܐ ܗܝ ܕܐܡܝܪܐ ܒܝܘܐܝܠ ܢܒܝܐ

But this is what has been spoken through the prophet Joel:

ܢܗܘܐ ܒܝܘܡܬܐ ܐܚܪܝܐ ܐܡܪ ܐܠܗܐ ܐܫܘܕ ܪܘܚܝ ܥܠ ܟܠ ܒܣܪ ܘܢܬܢܒܘܢ ܒܢܝܟܘܢ ܘܒܢܬܟܘܢ ܘܓܕܘܕܝܟܘܢ ܚܙܘܢܐ ܢܚܙܘܢ ܘܩܫܝܫܝܟܘܢ ܚܠܡܐ ܢܚܠܡܘܢ
nkhlmwn khlm' wqshyshykwn nkhzwn khzwn' wgdwdykwn wbnthkwn bnykwn wnthnbwn bsr kl el rwkhy 'shwd 'lh' 'mr 'khry' bywmth' nhw'
‘It will be in the last days, says God, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh. Your sons and your daughters will prophesy. Your young men will see visions. Your old men will dream dreams.

ܘܥܠ ܥܒܕܝ ܘܥܠ ܐܡܗܬܝ ܐܫܘܕ ܪܘܚܝ ܒܝܘܡܬܐ ܗܢܘܢ ܘܢܬܢܒܘܢ
wnthnbwn hnwn bywmth' rwkhy 'shwd 'mhthy wel ebdy wel
Yes, and on my servants and on my handmaidens in those days, I will pour out my Spirit, and they will prophesy.

ܘܐܬܠ ܐܬܘܬܐ ܒܫܡܝܐ ܘܓܒܪܘܬܐ ܥܠ ܐܪܥܐ ܕܡܐ ܘܢܘܪܐ ܘܥܛܪܐ ܕܬܢܢܐ

I will show wonders in the sky above, and signs on the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and billows of smoke.

ܫܡܫܐ ܢܬܚܠܦ ܒܥܡܛܢܐ ܘܣܗܪܐ ܒܕܡܐ ܥܕܠܐ ܢܐܬܐ ܝܘܡܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܪܒܐ ܘܕܚܝܠܐ
wdkhyl' rb' dmry' ywmh n'th' edl' bdm' wshr' bemTn' nthkhlp shmsh'
The sun will be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and glorious day of the Lord comes.

ܘܢܗܘܐ ܟܠ ܕܢܩܪܐ ܫܡܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܢܚܐ
nkh' dmry' shmh dnqr' kl wnhw'
It will be that whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved.’

ܓܒܪܐ ܒܢܝ ܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܫܡܥܘ ܡܠܐ ܗܠܝܢ ܝܫܘܥ ܢܨܪܝܐ ܓܒܪܐ ܕܡܢ ܐܠܗܐ ܐܬܚܙܝ ܠܘܬܟܘܢ ܒܚܝܠܐ ܘܒܐܬܘܬܐ ܘܒܓܒܪܘܬܐ ܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܥܒܕ ܒܝܢܬܟܘܢ ܒܐܝܕܗ ܐܝܟ ܕܐܢܬܘܢ ܝܕܥܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ

“Men of Israel, hear these words! Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved by God to you by mighty works and wonders and signs which God did by him among you, even as you yourselves know,

ܠܗܢܐ ܕܦܪܝܫ ܗܘܐ ܠܗ ܠܗܕܐ ܒܡܩܕܡܘܬ ܝܕܥܬܗ ܘܒܨܒܝܢܗ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܐܫܠܡܬܘܢܝܗܝ ܒܐܝܕܝ ܪܫܝܥܐ ܘܙܩܦܬܘܢ ܘܩܛܠܬܘܢ

him, being delivered up by the determined counsel and foreknowledge of God, you have taken by the hand of lawless men, crucified and killed;

whom God raised up, having freed him from the agony of death, because it was not possible that he should be held by it.

ܕܘܝܕ ܓܝܪ ܐܡܪ ܥܠܘܗܝ ܡܩܕܡ ܗܘܝܬ ܚܙܐ ܠܡܪܝ ܒܟܠܙܒܢ ܕܥܠ ܝܡܝܢܝ ܗܘ ܕܠܐ ܐܙܘܥ

For David says concerning him, ‘I saw the Lord always before my face, For he is on my right hand, that I should not be moved.

ܡܛܠ ܗܢܐ ܐܬܒܣܡ ܠܒܝ ܘܪܘܙܬ ܬܫܒܘܚܬܝ ܘܐܦ ܦܓܪܝ ܢܓܢ ܥܠ ܣܒܪܐ

Therefore my heart was glad, and my tongue rejoiced. Moreover my flesh also will dwell in hope;

ܡܛܠ ܕܠܐ ܫܒܩ ܐܢܬ ܠܢܦܫܝ ܒܫܝܘܠ ܘܠܐ ܝܗܒ ܐܢܬ ܠܚܣܝܟ ܕܢܚܙܐ ܚܒܠܐ
khbl' dnkhz' lkhsyk 'nth yhb wl' bshywl lnpshy 'nth shbq dl' mTl
because you will not leave my soul in Hades, neither will you allow your Holy One to see decay.

ܓܠܝܬ ܠܝ ܐܘܪܚܐ ܕܚܝܐ ܬܡܠܝܢܝ ܒܣܝܡܘܬܐ ܥܡ ܦܪܨܘܦܟ

You made known to me the ways of life. You will make me full of gladness with your presence.’

ܓܒܪܐ ܐܚܝܢ ܡܦܣ ܠܡܐܡܪ ܥܝܢ ܒܓܠܐ ܠܘܬܟܘܢ ܥܠ ܪܝܫ ܐܒܗܬܐ ܕܘܝܕ ܕܡܝܬ ܘܐܦ ܐܬܩܒܪ ܘܒܝܬ ܩܒܘܪܗ ܐܝܬܘܗܝ ܠܘܬܢ ܥܕܡܐ ܠܝܘܡܢܐ

“Brothers, I may tell you freely of the patriarch David, that he both died and was buried, and his tomb is with us to this day.

ܢܒܝܐ ܗܘܐ ܓܝܪ ܘܝܕܥ ܗܘܐ ܕܡܘܡܬܐ ܝܡܐ ܠܗ ܐܠܗܐ ܕܡܢ ܦܐܪܐ ܕܟܪܣܟ ܐܘܬܒ ܥܠ ܟܘܪܣܝܟ

Therefore, being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him that of the fruit of his body, according to the flesh, he would raise up the Christ to sit on his throne,

ܘܩܕܡ ܚܙܐ ܘܡܠܠ ܥܠ ܩܝܡܬܗ ܕܡܫܝܚܐ ܕܠܐ ܐܫܬܒܩ ܒܫܝܘܠ ܐܦܠܐ ܦܓܪܗ ܚܙܐ ܚܒܠܐ
khbl' khz' pgrh 'pl' bshywl 'shthbq dl' dmshykh' qymthh el wmll khz' wqdm
he foreseeing this spoke about the resurrection of the Christ, that his soul wasn’t left in Hades, and his flesh didn’t see decay.

ܠܗܢܐ ܝܫܘܥ ܐܩܝܡ ܐܠܗܐ ܘܚܢܢ ܟܠܢ ܣܗܕܘܗܝ

This Jesus God raised up, to which we all are witnesses.

ܘܗܘܝܘ ܕܒܝܡܝܢܗ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܐܬܬܪܝܡ ܘܢܣܒ ܡܢ ܐܒܐ ܫܘܘܕܝܐ ܕܥܠ ܪܘܚܐ ܕܩܘܕܫܐ ܘܐܫܕ ܡܘܗܒܬܐ ܗܕܐ ܕܗܐ ܚܙܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܘܫܡܥܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ

Being therefore exalted by the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, he has poured out this, which you now see and hear.

ܠܐ ܗܘܐ ܓܝܪ ܕܘܝܕ ܣܠܩ ܠܫܡܝܐ ܡܛܠ ܕܗܘ ܐܡܪ ܕܐܡܪ ܡܪܝܐ ܠܡܪܝ ܬܒ ܠܟ ܡܢ ܝܡܝܢܝ

For David didn’t ascend into the heavens, but he says himself, ‘The Lord said to my Lord, “Sit by my right hand,

until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet.”’

ܫܪܝܪܐܝܬ ܗܟܝܠ ܢܕܥ ܟܠܗ ܒܝܬ ܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܘܡܫܝܚܐ ܥܒܕܗ ܐܠܗܐ ܠܗܢܐ ܝܫܘܥ ܕܐܢܬܘܢ ܙܩܦܬܘܢ
zqpthwn d'nthwn yshwe lhn' 'lh' ebdh wmshykh' dmry' 'ysryl byth klh nde hkyl shryr'yth
“Let all the house of Israel therefore know certainly that God has made him both Lord and Christ, this Jesus whom you crucified.”

ܘܟܕ ܫܡܥܘ ܗܠܝܢ ܐܬܓܢܚܘ ܒܠܒܗܘܢ ܘܐܡܪܘ ܠܫܡܥܘܢ ܘܠܫܪܟܐ ܕܫܠܝܚܐ ܡܢܐ ܢܥܒܕ ܐܚܝܢ

Now when they heard this, they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Brothers, what shall we do?”

ܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܫܡܥܘܢ ܬܘܒܘ ܘܥܡܕܘ ܐܢܫ ܐܢܫ ܡܢܟܘܢ ܒܫܡܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܝܫܘܥ ܠܫܘܒܩܢ ܚܛܗܐ ܕܬܩܒܠܘܢ ܡܘܗܒܬܐ ܕܪܘܚܐ ܕܩܘܕܫܐ
dqwdsh' drwkh' mwhbth' dthqblwn khTh' lshwbqn yshwe dmry' bshmh mnkwn 'nsh 'nsh wemdw thwbw shmewn lhwn 'mr
Peter said to them, “Repent, and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

ܠܟܘܢ ܓܝܪ ܗܘܐ ܫܘܘܕܝܐ ܘܠܒܢܝܟܘܢ ܘܠܟܠܗܘܢ ܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܪܚܝܩܝܢ ܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܗܘ ܐܠܗܐ ܢܩܪܐ ܐܢܘܢ
'nwn nqr' 'lh' dhw 'ylyn drkhyqyn 'ylyn wlklhwn wlbnykwn shwwdy' hw' gyr lkwn
For the promise is to you, and to your children, and to all who are far off, even as many as the Lord our God will call to himself.”

ܘܒܡܠܐ ܐܚܪܢܝܬܐ ܣܓܝܐܬܐ ܡܣܗܕ ܗܘܐ ܠܗܘܢ ܘܒܥܐ ܗܘܐ ܡܢܗܘܢ ܟܕ ܐܡܪ ܚܝܘ ܡܢ ܫܪܒܬܐ ܗܕܐ ܡܥܩܡܬܐ
meqmth' hd' shrbth' mn khyw 'mr kd mnhwn hw' wbe' lhwn hw' mshd sgy'th' 'khrnyth' wbml'
With many other words he testified, and exhorted them, saying, “Save yourselves from this crooked generation!”

ܘܐܢܫܝܢ ܡܢܗܘܢ ܥܬܝܕܐܝܬ ܩܒܠܘ ܡܠܬܗ ܘܗܝܡܢܘ ܘܥܡܕܘ ܘܐܬܬܘܣܦܘ ܒܗܘ ܝܘܡܐ ܐܝܟ ܬܠܬܐ ܐܠܦܝܢ ܢܦܫܢ

Then those who gladly received his word were baptized. There were added that day about three thousand souls.

ܘܐܡܝܢܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܒܝܘܠܦܢܐ ܕܫܠܝܚܐ ܘܡܫܬܘܬܦܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܒܨܠܘܬܐ ܘܒܩܨܝܐ ܕܐܘܟܪܣܛܝܐ

ܘܗܘܝܐ ܗܘܬ ܕܚܠܬܐ ܠܟܠ ܢܦܫ ܘܐܬܘܬܐ ܣܓܝܐܬܐ ܘܓܒܪܘܬܐ ܗܘܝܢ ܗܘܝ ܒܝܕ ܫܠܝܚܐ ܒܐܘܪܫܠܡ
b'wrshlm shlykh' byd hwy hwyn wgbrwth' sgy'th' w'thwth' npsh lkl dkhlth' hwth whwy'
Fear came on every soul, and many wonders and signs were done through the apostles.

ܘܟܠܗܘܢ ܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܗܝܡܢܘ ܗܘܘ ܐܟܚܕܐ ܗܘܘ ܘܟܠܡܕܡ ܕܐܝܬ ܗܘܐ ܠܗܘܢ ܕܓܘܐ ܗܘܐ
hw' dgw' lhwn hw' d'yth wklmdm hww 'kkhd' hww dhymnw 'ylyn wklhwn
All who believed were together, and had all things in common.

ܘܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܐܝܬ ܗܘܐ ܠܗܘܢ ܩܢܝܢܐ ܡܙܒܢܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܠܗ ܘܡܦܠܓܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܠܐܢܫ ܐܢܫ ܐܝܟ ܡܕܡ ܕܣܢܝܩ ܗܘܐ
hw' dsnyq mdm 'yk 'nsh l'nsh hww wmplgyn lh hww mzbnyn qnyn' lhwn hw' d'yth w'ylyn
They sold their possessions and goods, and distributed them to all, according as anyone had need.

ܘܟܠܝܘܡ ܐܡܝܢܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܒܗܝܟܠܐ ܒܚܕܐ ܢܦܫ ܘܒܒܝܬܐ ܩܨܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܦܪܝܣܬܐ ܘܡܩܒܠܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܣܝܒܪܬܐ ܟܕ ܪܘܙܝܢ ܘܒܒܪܝܪܘܬܐ ܕܠܒܗܘܢ
dlbhwn wbbryrwth' rwzyn kd sybrth' hww wmqblyn prysth' hww qtsyn wbbyth' npsh bkhd' bhykl' hww 'mynyn wklywm
Day by day, continuing steadfastly with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread at home, they took their food with gladness and singleness of heart,

ܡܫܒܚܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܠܐܠܗܐ ܟܕ ܝܗܝܒܝܢ ܒܪܚܡܐ ܩܕܡ ܟܠܗ ܥܡܐ ܘܡܪܢ ܡܘܣܦ ܗܘܐ ܟܠܝܘܡ ܠܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܚܐܝܢ ܒܥܕܬܐ
bedth' dkh'yn l'ylyn klywm hw' mwsp wmrn em' klh qdm brkhm' yhybyn kd l'lh' hww mshbkhyn
praising God, and having favor with all the people. The Lord added to the assembly day by day those who were being saved.
