ܟܬܒܐ ܩܕܡܝܐ ܟܬܒܬ ܐܘ ܬܐܘܦܝܠܐ ܥܠ ܟܠܗܝܢ ܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܫܪܝ ܡܪܢ ܝܫܘܥ ܡܫܝܚܐ ܠܡܥܒܕ ܘܠܡܠܦܘ
wlmlpw lmebd mshykh' yshwe mrn dshry 'ylyn klhyn el th'wpyl' 'w kthbth qdmy' kthb'
The first book I wrote, Theophilus, concerned all that Jesus began both to do and to teach,

ܥܕܡܐ ܠܝܘܡܐ ܗܘ ܕܒܗ ܐܣܬܠܩ ܡܢ ܒܬܪ ܕܦܩܕ ܗܘܐ ܐܢܘܢ ܠܫܠܝܚܐ ܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܓܒܐ ܒܪܘܚܐ ܕܩܘܕܫܐ

until the day in which he was received up, after he had given commandment through the Holy Spirit to the apostles whom he had chosen.

ܗܢܘܢ ܕܐܦ ܚܘܝ ܠܗܘܢ ܢܦܫܗ ܟܕ ܚܝ ܡܢ ܒܬܪ ܕܚܫ ܒܐܬܘܬܐ ܣܓܝܐܬܐ ܒܝܘܡܝܢ ܐܪܒܥܝܢ ܟܕ ܡܬܚܙܐ ܗܘܐ ܠܗܘܢ ܘܐܡܪ ܥܠ ܡܠܟܘܬܐ ܕܐܠܗܐ

To these he also showed himself alive after he suffered, by many proofs, appearing to them over a period of forty days, and speaking about God’s Kingdom.

ܘܟܕ ܐܟܠ ܥܡܗܘܢ ܠܚܡܐ ܦܩܕ ܐܢܘܢ ܕܡܢ ܐܘܪܫܠܡ ܠܐ ܢܦܪܩܘܢ ܐܠܐ ܕܢܩܘܘܢ ܠܫܘܘܕܝܗ ܕܐܒܐ ܗܘ ܕܫܡܥܬܘܢ ܡܢܝ
mny dshmethwn hw d'b' lshwwdyh dnqwwn 'l' nprqwn l' 'wrshlm dmn 'nwn pqd lkhm' emhwn 'kl wkd
Being assembled together with them, he commanded them,
“Don’t depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which you heard from me.

ܕܝܘܚܢܢ ܐܥܡܕ ܒܡܝܐ ܘܐܢܬܘܢ ܬܥܡܕܘܢ ܒܪܘܚܐ ܕܩܘܕܫܐ ܠܐ ܒܬܪ ܝܘܡܬܐ ܣܓܝܐܐ
sgy'' ywmth' bthr l' dqwdsh' brwkh' themdwn w'nthwn bmy' 'emd dywkhnn
For John indeed baptized in water, but you will be baptized in the Holy Spirit not many days from now.”

ܗܢܘܢ ܕܝܢ ܟܕ ܟܢܝܫܝܢ ܫܐܠܘܗܝ ܘܐܡܪܝܢ ܠܗ ܡܪܢ ܐܢ ܒܗܢܐ ܙܒܢܐ ܡܦܢܐ ܐܢܬ ܡܠܟܘܬܐ ܠܐܝܣܪܝܠ

Therefore when they had come together, they asked him, “Lord, are you now restoring the kingdom to Israel?”

ܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܗܘ ܠܐ ܗܘܬ ܕܝܠܟܘܢ ܗܕܐ ܠܡܕܥ ܙܒܢܐ ܐܘ ܙܒܢܐ ܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܐܒܐ ܣܡ ܐܢܘܢ ܒܫܘܠܛܢܐ ܕܢܦܫܗ

He said to them,
“It isn’t for you to know times or seasons which the Father has set within his own authority.

ܐܠܐ ܟܕ ܬܐܬܐ ܪܘܚܐ ܕܩܘܕܫܐ ܥܠܝܟܘܢ ܬܩܒܠܘܢ ܚܝܠܐ ܘܬܗܘܘܢ ܠܝ ܣܗܕܐ ܒܐܘܪܫܠܡ ܘܒܟܠܗ ܝܗܘܕ ܘܐܦ ܒܝܬ ܫܡܪܝܐ ܘܥܕܡܐ ܠܣܘܦܝܗ ܕܐܪܥܐ
d're' lswpyh wedm' shmry' byth w'p yhwd wbklh b'wrshlm shd' ly wthhwwn khyl' thqblwn elykwn dqwdsh' rwkh' th'th' kd 'l'
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you. You will be witnesses to me in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the uttermost parts of the earth.”

ܘܟܕ ܗܠܝܢ ܐܡܪ ܟܕ ܚܙܝܢ ܠܗ ܐܣܬܠܩ ܘܥܢܢܐ ܩܒܠܬܗ ܘܐܬܟܣܝ ܡܢ ܥܝܢܝܗܘܢ
eynyhwn mn w'thksy qblthh wenn' 'sthlq lh khzyn kd 'mr hlyn wkd
When he had said these things, as they were looking, he was taken up, and a cloud received him out of their sight.

ܘܟܕ ܚܝܪܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܒܫܡܝܐ ܟܕ ܗܘ ܐܙܠ ܗܘܐ ܐܫܬܟܚܘ ܬܪܝܢ ܓܒܪܝܢ ܩܝܡܝܢ ܠܘܬܗܘܢ ܒܠܒܘܫܐ ܚܘܪܐ
khwr' blbwsh' lwthhwn qymyn gbryn thryn 'shthkkhw hw' 'zl hw kd bshmy' hww khyryn wkd
While they were looking steadfastly into the sky as he went, behold, two men stood by them in white clothing,

ܘܐܡܪܝܢ ܠܗܘܢ ܓܒܪܐ ܓܠܝܠܝܐ ܡܢܐ ܩܝܡܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܘܚܝܪܝܢ ܒܫܡܝܐ ܗܢܐ ܝܫܘܥ ܕܐܣܬܠܩ ܡܢܟܘܢ ܠܫܡܝܐ ܗܟܢܐ ܢܐܬܐ ܐܝܟ ܡܐ ܕܚܙܝܬܘܢܝܗܝ ܕܣܠܩ ܠܫܡܝܐ
lshmy' dslq dkhzythwnyhy m' 'yk n'th' hkn' lshmy' mnkwn d'sthlq yshwe hn' bshmy' wkhyryn 'nthwn qymyn mn' glyly' gbr' lhwn w'mryn
who also said, “You men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into the sky? This Jesus, who was received up from you into the sky, will come back in the same way as you saw him going into the sky.”

ܘܡܢ ܒܬܪܟܢ ܗܦܟܘ ܠܗܘܢ ܠܐܘܪܫܠܡ ܡܢ ܛܘܪܐ ܕܡܬܩܪܐ ܕܒܝܬ ܙܝܬܐ ܕܐܝܬܘܗܝ ܥܠ ܓܢܒ ܐܘܪܫܠܡ ܘܦܪܝܩ ܡܢܗ ܐܝܟ ܫܒܥܐ ܐܣܛܕܘܢ
'sTdwn shbe' 'yk mnh wpryq 'wrshlm gnb el d'ythwhy zyth' dbyth dmthqr' Twr' mn l'wrshlm lhwn hpkw bthrkn wmn
Then they returned to Jerusalem from the mountain called Olivet, which is near Jerusalem, a Sabbath day’s journey away.

ܘܡܢ ܒܬܪ ܕܥܠܘ ܣܠܩܘ ܠܗܘܢ ܠܥܠܝܬܐ ܗܝ ܕܗܘܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܒܗ ܦܛܪܘܣ ܘܝܘܚܢܢ ܘܝܥܩܘܒ ܘܐܢܕܪܐܘܣ ܘܦܝܠܝܦܘܣ ܘܬܐܘܡܐ ܘܡܬܝ ܘܒܪ-ܬܘܠܡܝ ܘܝܥܩܘܒ ܒܪ ܚܠܦܝ ܘܫܡܥܘܢ ܛܢܢܐ ܘܝܗܘܕܐ ܒܪ ܝܥܩܘܒ

When they had come in, they went up into the upper room, where they were staying; that is Peter, John, James, Andrew, Philip, Thomas, Bartholomew, Matthew, James the son of Alphaeus, Simon the Zealot, and Judas the son of James.

ܗܠܝܢ ܟܠܗܘܢ ܐܟܚܕܐ ܐܡܝܢܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܒܨܠܘܬܐ ܒܚܕܐ ܢܦܫ ܥܡ ܢܫܐ ܘܥܡ ܡܪܝܡ ܐܡܗ ܕܝܫܘܥ ܘܥܡ ܐܚܘܗܝ
'khwhy wem dyshwe 'mh mrym wem nsh' em npsh bkhd' btslwth' hww 'mynyn 'kkhd' klhwn hlyn
All these with one accord continued steadfastly in prayer and supplication, along with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brothers.

ܘܒܗܘܢ ܒܝܘܡܬܐ ܗܢܘܢ ܩܡ ܫܡܥܘܢ ܟܐܦܐ ܡܨܥܬ ܬܠܡܝܕܐ ܐܝܬ ܗܘܐ ܕܝܢ ܬܡܢ ܟܢܫܐ ܕܐܢܫܐ ܐܝܟ ܡܐܐ ܘܥܣܪܝܢ ܘܐܡܪ
w'mr wesryn m'' 'yk d'nsh' knsh' thmn dyn hw' 'yth thlmyd' mtseth k'p' shmewn qm hnwn bywmth' wbhwn
In these days, Peter stood up in the middle of the disciples (and the number of names was about one hundred twenty), and said,

ܓܒܪܐ ܐܚܝܢ ܙܕܩ ܗܘܐ ܕܢܬܡܠܐ ܟܬܒܐ ܐܝܢܐ ܕܩܕܡ ܐܡܪ ܪܘܚܐ ܕܩܘܕܫܐ ܒܦܘܡܗ ܕܕܘܝܕ ܥܠ ܝܗܘܕܐ ܗܘ ܕܗܘܐ ܡܕܒܪܢܐ ܠܗܢܘܢ ܕܐܚܕܘ ܠܝܫܘܥ
lyshwe d'khdw lhnwn mdbrn' dhw' hw yhwd' el ddwyd bpwmh dqwdsh' rwkh' 'mr dqdm 'yn' kthb' dnthml' hw' zdq 'khyn gbr'
“Brothers, it was necessary that this Scripture should be fulfilled, which the Holy Spirit spoke before by the mouth of David concerning Judas, who was guide to those who took Jesus.

ܡܛܠ ܕܡܢܐ ܗܘܐ ܥܡܢ ܘܐܝܬ ܗܘܐ ܠܗ ܦܣܐ ܒܬܫܡܫܬܐ ܗܕܐ
hd' bthshmshth' ps' lh hw' w'yth emn hw' dmn' mTl
For he was counted with us, and received his portion in this ministry.

ܗܢܘ ܕܩܢܐ ܠܗ ܩܪܝܬܐ ܡܢ ܐܓܪܐ ܕܚܛܝܬܐ ܘܢܦܠ ܥܠ ܐܦܘܗܝ ܥܠ ܐܪܥܐ ܘܐܬܦܪܬ ܡܢ ܡܨܥܬܗ ܘܐܬܐܫܕ ܟܠܗ ܓܘܝܗ
gwyh klh w'th'shd mtsethh mn w'thprth 're' el 'pwhy el wnpl dkhTyth' 'gr' mn qryth' lh dqn' hnw
Now this man obtained a field with the reward for his wickedness, and falling headlong, his body burst open, and all his intestines gushed out.

ܘܗܝ ܗܕܐ ܐܬܝܕܥܬ ܠܟܠܗܘܢ ܕܥܡܪܝܢ ܒܐܘܪܫܠܡ ܘܗܟܢܐ ܐܬܩܪܝܬ ܩܪܝܬܐ ܗܝ ܒܠܫܢܗ ܕܐܬܪܐ ܚܩܠ ܕܡܐ ܕܐܝܬܘܗܝ ܬܘܪܓܡܗ ܩܘܪܝܬ ܕܡ
dm qwryth thwrgmh d'ythwhy dm' khql d'thr' blshnh hy qryth' 'thqryth whkn' b'wrshlm demryn lklhwn 'thydeth hd' why
It became known to everyone who lived in Jerusalem that in their language that field was called ‘Akeldama,’ that is, ‘The field of blood.’

ܟܬܝܒ ܓܝܪ ܒܣܦܪܐ ܕܡܙܡܘܪܐ ܕܕܝܪܗ ܬܗܘܐ ܚܪܒܐ ܘܥܡܘܪ ܠܐ ܢܗܘܐ ܒܗ ܘܬܫܡܫܬܗ ܢܣܒ ܐܚܪܝܢ
'khryn nsb wthshmshthh bh nhw' l' wemwr khrb' thhw' ddyrh dmzmwr' bspr' gyr kthyb
For it is written in the book of Psalms,
‘Let his habitation be made desolate.
Let no one dwell therein;’
and,
‘Let another take his office.’

ܘܠܝܐ ܗܝ ܗܟܝܠ ܠܚܕ ܡܢ ܗܠܝܢ ܓܒܪܐ ܕܗܘܘ ܥܡܢ ܒܗܢܐ ܙܒܢܐ ܟܠܗ ܕܒܗ ܥܠ ܘܢܦܩ ܥܠܝܢ ܡܪܢ ܝܫܘܥ
yshwe mrn elyn wnpq el dbh klh zbn' bhn' emn dhww gbr' hlyn mn lkhd hkyl hy wly'
“Of the men therefore who have accompanied us all the time that the Lord Jesus went in and out among us,

ܕܐܩܦ ܡܢ ܡܥܡܘܕܝܬܗ ܕܝܘܚܢܢ ܥܕܡܐ ܠܝܘܡܐ ܕܐܣܬܠܩ ܡܢ ܠܘܬܢ ܕܗܘ ܢܗܘܐ ܥܡܢ ܣܗܕܐ ܕܩܝܡܬܗ
dqymthh shd' emn nhw' dhw lwthn mn d'sthlq lywm' edm' dywkhnn memwdythh mn d'qp
beginning from the baptism of John, to the day that he was received up from us, of these one must become a witness with us of his resurrection.”

ܘܐܩܝܡܘ ܬܪܝܢ ܠܝܘܣܦ ܕܡܬܩܪܐ ܒܪܫܒܐ ܕܐܫܬܡܝ ܝܘܣܛܘܣ ܘܠܡܬܝܐ

They put forward two, Joseph called Barsabbas, who was also called Justus, and Matthias.

ܘܟܕ ܨܠܝܘ ܐܡܪܘ ܐܢܬ ܡܪܝܐ ܝܕܥ ܕܒܠܒܘܬܐ ܕܟܠ ܚܘܐ ܚܕ ܐܝܢܐ ܕܓܒܐ ܐܢܬ ܡܢ ܗܠܝܢ ܬܪܝܗܘܢ
thryhwn hlyn mn 'nth dgb' 'yn' khd khw' dkl dblbwth' yde mry' 'nth 'mrw tslyw wkd
They prayed, and said, “You, Lord, who know the hearts of all men, show which one of these two you have chosen

ܕܗܘ ܢܩܒܠ ܦܣܐ ܕܬܫܡܫܬܐ ܘܫܠܝܚܘܬܐ ܕܡܢܗ ܦܪܩ ܝܗܘܕܐ ܕܢܐܙܠ ܠܗ ܠܐܬܪܗ

to take part in this ministry and apostleship from which Judas fell away, that he might go to his own place.”
